Funny, I randomly came across this bar and bought it on a whim two weeks ago for $316 delivered to LA. Figured not much to lose for an all stainless bar for $316 and I wanted to see if the thin collars would be a problem since I’m looking at getting an eleiko bar. The bar is set to arrive tomorrow. This is the only review I’ve seen of it, written, video, or otherwise. Good to see it’s decent.

@@BasementBrandontried it yesterday, steep incline bench 60 degrees, 3 sets of 4 at 205. Only plan on using this bar for bench. Really good knurling for me. Felt like a sharper version of the Kabuki Nickel bar that I received last week. This might edge out the Kabuki for the best knurling and both are probably slightly better than the Griffin original stainless that was my favorite for two years. I don’t like overly aggressive knurling. The Ohio Power Bar is my least favorite because it’s not comfortable to hold even though it doesn’t really cause me problems. This bar didn’t cause any problems though. I like that the sleeves don’t spin much, sleeve spin is one of the things I hate the most when benching. I actually liked the Chewy bar for the knurling but it spin in my hand a few times so I haven’t used it since but maybe I was just unstable. The first barbell I bought was the Ohio Bar but I stopped using it because it spun too much and I was worried about hurting my wrists. The only thing I wish was slightly different would be the collars being slightly thicker, even around the size of Kabuki’s which are already thin, would be fine. They didn’t bother me during the lift like I thought they would though. Overall it’s an amazing bar at $316 delivered and definitely still worth it for $515 unless you have a sloppy walkout for squat or are very unstable with a wide rack for bench then the thin collars might be a problem.

Hey Brandon, I have a question (not relating to this video) regarding a new barbell I just received from American Barbell. For some reason they forgot to insert the sticker that goes into the end piece on both sides. They stated I could return it and they would send me a new one, however I basically destroyed the tube it came in as I do not have your expertise in opening Barbell boxes/tubing. LOL. Anyway's, I did not want to send it back as it's too difficult to pack up and ship, they did send me new stickers to put into the end pieces. I do not have experience inserting stickers into barbells, I do have experience sticking other things into things but that is another topic for another day! LOl. Did you happen to make a video of putting those stickers in the end of the barbell? Or any advice on how to do it? I do have needle nose pliers but I really don't want to go in blindly and end up wrecking my new barbell. I may need my wife to help if its something that takes fine coordination as that is not my strength unfortunately. Anyway's, thanks for your time, much appreciated. Nice video BTW.
@BasementBrandon
@BasementBrandon 7 месяцев назад
It somewhat depends on the type of bar you got from them. If it has a snap ring it's really easy. You could use needle nose pliers but snap ring pliers work much better. It's just a matter of getting the snap ring out, then tilting the bar so the metal cap falls out, place sticker on, reinsert cap, reinsert snap ring. You can kind of get an idea of it here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-bwdAYdIrkqk.html or you can likely find other videos that go more in depth.

This sparks my curiosity, can’t you just use a regular barbell for bench and deadlifts? What is the benefit of using a specialized deadlift bar?
@BasementBrandon
@BasementBrandon 7 месяцев назад
In the case of a deadlift bar, it is usually thinner, longer, and has more aggressive knurl. This leads to better grip and more bend in the bar under heavy load. This typically allows a better starting position, shorter ROM, and more weight to be added.

These bar definitely (99%) come from RUSER, they also have on shop a plate load that looks identical. I have from this factory (Nantong Lixing Machinery Manufacturing Co., Ltd) Squat bar and DLB (IMBA) - both made of stainless steel. Unfortunately, it has very poor knurling quality (chipped, cracked tops), a lack of selection is visible. As far as I know, all of their barbells have this problem. My squat bar also had a problem with the sleeve, but I fixed it, although it's still not perfect. Design flaw - they removed a small ring that is necessary for smooth rotation. They don't really know what they are doing, it's far from Samtek or EAKO.
@BasementBrandon
@BasementBrandon 7 месяцев назад
I don't doubt a lot of these come from the same manufacturing plant, but I'd say the knurl on this is actually nicer than some of the other inconsistent imports I've seen. We'll see how it holds up!
@kowalarcade
@kowalarcade 7 месяцев назад
The problem is not even the aesthetics themselves, but how do these cracks are created? I have seen bad raster starts, even depths, mowings but never a fragment cracked. This is the first barbell that has this defect. These flaws can be noticed even in the photos they share (on his webside and auction). I regret that I didn't notice this in the auctions. I wouldn't buy it... In your video also exist few points in close-up. If it's a faulty knurlling roll or the result of straightening the barbell with a hydraulic piston after production - can get over it. But if rod is knurling first and then harden it and that's where the losses come from, it's a big problem. The wrong sequence of the process causes the top layer to peel off. This is the beginning of micro-cracks. The barbell will be weakened and may break completely.

I believe if you worked out with a partner your bench would be a lot higher. I too lift alone and prefer it, I can't stand to have to meet someone else's schedule. That being said you have got to increase your bench, with all the muscle on you and the years of lifting, you should leave 405 in the dust, I'm thinking at least 450 by now. It has been proven without a doubt the best program to increase one's bench is Westside's Conjugate Method. Louie proved it multiple times but it's hard to do without partners, however it can be done by yourself. My question to you is Why don't you utilize Westside's program? You compete so your Total is important Progressive overload and Periodization are good but only to a certain level. Westside's Conjugate Method is gonna take you to the Promised Land!!!!! Just a fan who is pulling for you to get your Total into the stratosphere Take Care
@BasementBrandon
@BasementBrandon 7 месяцев назад
I think for my size (6'3" and 225lbs) a 405lbs bench is still and extremely high number 😅

@@BasementBrandon Really, for a powerlifter that's been training for 10 years+ Okay, you missed the question altogether It was why mess around with cookie cutter programs designed specifically to sell to the masses. They are made so the writer will get rich so they are tract lined to attract all people. Westside conjugate is made to get strong, Period A junior high kid could've written juggernaut it is so basic, I tried to help not anger you but looks like I failed. This is the problem with social media, cannot have an intelligent conversation without one side getting angry, context is so misplaced on a text or on a computer Good Luck anyway Gonna need on juggernaut
@BasementBrandon
@BasementBrandon 7 месяцев назад
Sorry if you misread my response, I'm not mad at all. I always appreciate insight/suggestions from people who watch my content. I don't think you can equate training years with expected numbers. There are plenty of people who have trained longer and are of multiple shapes/sizes/backgrounds that still may not bench 405. I've dabbled in a lot of training methodologies over the years, including conjugate, and I can assure you Juggernaut is not a cookie cutter program. You may find some of the basics the same as other programs and that's more just due to the fact that they utilize the same documented fundamentals. My training for the main compounds vastly differ than a lot of the other people who are running juggernaut. In fact a lot of the top work and day to day stuff could be very similar to some of the max effort work prescribed in Conjugate style training. All strength programs should be made to get strong, the difficult process if finding the one that works best for you.

@@BasementBrandon I am not angry at all and I was glad you said you are not. I'm sorry if I overstepped, it's just that I enjoy your channel and I pull for you in your competitions and I just think Westsides system would get your Total even higher although your Total is very, very impressive. I see you using a reader to measure your velocity of the bar and that is great and got me thinking if Brandon knows he needs to speed up velocity of the bar to overcome sticking points then he's mirroring Westside so why not train full Westside as it's the best system to increase strength. Accommodating resistance and fighting overspeed eccentrics, along with accessory work are the key to increasing the size and number of muscle fibers. It's not bodybuilding, it's not for increasing the size of your sacromere or increase hypertrophy, well not much, but for strength it is the king. You are a cool guy and you deserve to be using the best so I just wanted to tell you the best system for strength is Westside, I know you did not know that Westside is the best way to train because you don't use it. This is not my opinion, it is a fact Take Care Only reason I wanted to put you onto Westside'd way is because you always talk about how bad your bench is, I thought it would not hurt your feelings when I sent my text but I see I did hurt your feelings, you got very defensive and I can only imagine what you called me. This is why most people dont leave comments and I shouldn't have. This is why social media, texting, all of it sucks.
