Dan C Bearded anyway to tell if the coconut oil is fractionated or unrefined as its popular in my butters (DGC,Grave before shave and fresh beards)? Looking for a light butter right now since I been dealing with some acne for first time. I also have Husky but don’t see coconut oil in there at all.. recommendations? I have plenty of different oils but that’s all for butters. Trying to stay on the light side of course.. I certainly know it’s not an exact science from person to person though!

Thanks for the video. It's nice to able to make informed decisions and questions through your videos. I am becoming aware of which oils my beard likes and which oils it doesn't. Like argan oil, my skin loves it. My beard absorbs it too readily. It eats it like you going through a bag of Reece's Pieces, leaving it feeling dry. I'm starting to shy away from oil that has it as their first carrier oil. As a caveat, the following carrier oils can change how the oil feels in my beard. Thanks again DanC.

I’ve started paying attention more and more to what ingredients go into all the oils I get, and I think that’s just one of the reasons I love the carrier oil series. Before I even look into a scent, I’m checking what it was in it. I know certain oils do extremely well in my beard, and others don’t live up to that. This is such an incredible video, because this is so crucial to know about. You don’t want to put something in your beard and especially on your face, that will kill the luster of having a beard.

Very thought provoking video, I have had all of those in different products with the exception of mineral oil. I have not had any issues. One that wasn't on the list was coconut oil, which I have found to make my beard feel dry so I try to avoid it. Fractionated seems ok. Is there a similar scale for how well an oil absorbs, that would be interesting too, help avoid greasiness. I really enjoy videos like this one, thanks Dan.

@leosigman7239
@leosigman7239 4 года назад
Outstanding! As a follow-up question, how do these interact? For example, would equal amounts of Shea and Cocoa Butters equal 2 on the scale? Staying with Balms for a moment, would the Carrier Oils rating also change the scale of the finished product? Similar question for oils. Does mixing them change the scale of the finished product? Would personal variances override differences between 1 and 2 on the scale?
@DanCBearded
@DanCBearded 4 года назад
Hey Leo! Loaded question there. The more clogging oils usually are dominate for the result. If you have equal parts 0 and 4. The overall product would likely measure a 4 with chances of clogging your pores. For balms, it is going to be the more solid ingredient that is going to matter the most. I hope that makes sense! Something I have studied pretty at great lengths in my journey with consulting for a company
@leosigman7239
@leosigman7239 4 года назад
Loaded to the pores😀! If I understood you, the thickest oil entails the most risk. But ingredients are listed from most to least without percentages, so consecutive carriers could be equal, or more/less. Your video puts most carriers from zero to two, so I suspect there is likely little risk for the vast majority of men considering the amounts involved. If there is a problem, get a product with all carriers equal to zero, or maybe one, on the scale. For Balms, I have to ask which is more solid: Shea or Cocoa Butter? What you wrote does indeed make sense, I'm looking to get more detail.

I have not, but I have avoided all products with any whiskey or wheat directly infused ingredients.

Where would coconut oil fall within the comedogenic scale?

Fractionated around a 1 and regular around a 4

I see a certain brand advertising a premium line of oils with far more ingredients than others and claiming that this will be a superior product for your beard. Surely your skin can only deal with/absorb so much at a time and less is more? Or maybe it's a subjective thing depending on the individual?
@DanCBearded
@DanCBearded 3 года назад
It is all about the blend and what works for you. Carriers are not all about absorbing though. Some ingredients should be designed to coat or seal. Finding the best balance is key

@@DanCBearded Coconut oil is that bad? I thought it worked as good as anything else in my beard. I got the same results with argan, jojoba, and almond oil as wit commercially prepared butters, and oils. Hempseed and castor oils smelled and felt too heavy.

That was quick.. U know ur beard game.. I'm the "diy-er" that wants to make and sell beard oil /butter / balm/wash.. Etc but in research phase now.. I'm the type that needs to know alot b4 I begin. Been binge watch ur channel. Watched ur vid about things to be cautious of if you diy.. I cant remember the title. But I knew all that so that's good yeah.. I'm looking for a video of urs (if u have) where u kind of can point me in the right direction.. From ur vids I know Argan is good and Jojoba but what other oils do u recommend I research before making products. My husband will be my tester and his 3 brothers.. Lol.. Oh and black seed I wanna add to.. But not number 1 on ingredient list as you advised its better if not the majority of the oils. 😁.. And I'm thinking also if I were to focus on 2 products do u suggest bear butter and beard oil.. Sorry if I'm overstepping but would like ur expertise.. Thanks for all the helpful vids.. Helping my research tons.. 👍🤓
