We'll explore the three main strategies for increasing running speed: increasing your cadence, lengthening your stride, and combining both.

Running faster is the goal of many runners, but how can we achieve it? Today, we will analyze the three main strategies for increasing running speed: increasing cadence (steps per minute), lengthening your stride and combining both. Additionally, we will address the necessary balance between ground contact time and thrust force.
1. *Increase Cadence:*
Faster steps increase speed. For example, if we normally run at 160 strides per minute, we might try gradually increasing to 180 strides per minute.
Use metronome apps to track and adjust the cadence.
2. *Lengthen your stride:*
Instead of simply straightening the leg, we should focus on using a spring effect, propelling the body forward.
Exercises such as skipping and plyometrics help develop the strength necessary for an efficient push-up.
3. *Combination of Cadence and Stride:*
Increasing both cadence and stride length is ideal, but requires balance to avoid injuries and maintain efficiency.
Balancing your cadence and stride length is essential to running faster. We must ensure that the ground contact time is short enough to maintain speed, but long enough to provide effective momentum.

Acho que a biodinâmica do movimento e a própria cinesiologia são assuntos complexos e é muito difícil fazer com que o atleta esteja em ação pensando nesses detalhes. O ideal é levá-lo a fazer um movimento mais efeciente e produtivo através de treinos e atividades.

Verdade. Tenho de fazer alguns vídeos na rua a explicar melhor os conceitos. Fica bem dificil explicar só na teoria... 🙂 Fazer educativos de corrida acaba por ser fundamental para melhorar a postura na corrida.
