Companions' Reactions to Downed Tavs/Durges | Baldur's Gate 3 

Losing someone is pretty much common in Underdark. Minthy will move on after vangeance.

@@ladyselin35 What you mean side character main one? lol theres literally 8 'main characters' which is every party companion you can get otherwise besides DU or Halsin/Jaheira/Minsc and tbf Jaheira and Minsc were playable in other games,. Also if you look into it they cut out a ton of content with her, and shes not just a bandit leader mercenary btw, at all. If she joins your party and you find out her history shes a noble born drow Paladin

@@jefclark In Underdark. Whatever title she has in there has no weight topside. She might have rich history but game is out. Shes not a main character but someone you pity. She has no effect on story her death wont change anything. On the other hand youll lose actual main characters by adding her.

i like to think of it more like acting like close friends who often tease each other... but in the case of durge they dont want to risk angering the dark urge... or if your trying to go good path they truly wish to try to support you and help you resist this urge. they might seem to care more for the durge... but keep in mind that the durge definitely needs the support more (or they lose control and turn into a giant murder monster so yeah)

@@arcanumelite4853I don’t know if it’s because i befriended Astarion way more as a dark urge (one trying to be good) but he seems made to be their bestie/LI because as soon as I told him I was Bhaal’s offspring he was like “Hey Bhaal-babe! What’s good my man!” I guess he feels seen by the fellow bloodthirsty maniac

@@plaguedoctor2882 Or he sees it as a case where the Dark Urge is much like Astarion himself in the form of being the unwilling pawn of a more powerful being (Cazador for Astarion, and Bhaal for Dark Urge). So Astarion may see a Dark Urge who is actively trying to resist Bhaal's influence as a sort of kindred spirit.

If the fandom picked favorites based on who's the most traumatized, why hold the companions to a different standard?

If they do die bhaal gets a power boost (probably a large one since dark urge is really pure)

Durge is just cooler than Tav, I guess.

If you're resist Durge I guess it makes sense. Your companions get to know you more compared to when you are plain adventurer Tav, therefore a closer bond. That's why I like Durge over Tav is because you get extra longer dialogue and whatnot compared to Tav. Later in the game they start to worry about you over when the next time you will urge out and grow to trust you completely. Karlach showing the most support for Durge imo especially if you romanced her.

Durge has more personality to love 😂

I love how they not only love DUrge more but also are So pissed off at Tav. Like, if Tav falls, that’s on them.

Same tbh. Its cute that they start getting concerned even if you're just friends but it'd be extra sweet to have a different set of lines if their partner is downed. Same with Tav/Durge when their partner is downed, even if its the same line for all of them. Itd be such a nice touch; they're bringing back Karlach's actress already, I believe, so fingers crossed they bring in the rest for some more lines too.

They actually have a bunch recorded in the game files, u can find them on yt. For whatever reason they just weren't included with release :(

Mine yelled for Karlach in an absolutely heartbreaking voice, to the point where it really made me pause for a minute. And I mean, YELLED.

I heard that same voiceline but Wyll had just been pushed into a chasm by one of those hag thralls and it was so fucking funny, I couldn't stop laughing.

In fairness though, if you *have* to raise a party member from the dead in the middle of combat something has gone terribly wrong

For me, she only seemed to start reacting to me going down once she and I became official.

Durge, with the utmost sarcasm: "Oh, I'm only down for the count, teetering between life and death, all while my fucking deformed goblin butler keeps telling me to murder you all so I can please my god-daddy that I don't know /how/ to feel about, but sure, Jaheira. I'll consider 'just getting back up'."

My first Monk was a Tiefling Tav. I didn't quite understand what Monks were supposed to do other than smack people with a staff, so I tried to balance all of his stats rather than pool them into DEX and WIS. I always put him on the front line and he got his ass handed to him by the Gnolls. At that point he had really high approval with Astarion so Astarion yelled when he was down. Shart healed him, he rushed into battle, smacked a Gnoll in the face, was downed again, and Astarion yelled the same thing. Imagine watching the guy you kinda like get TKOed, healed, and then rush right back into danger.

SH at least has the same line with Tav

It kind of makes sense for his character - he hides his true feelings behind sarcasm, mockery or passive aggresion/aggression. It's very common for him to blurt our his true feelings and then immediately cover them up with nonchalant attitude (see the scene how he reacts if you romance him and then cheat on him with Mizora and he finds out. You ask him wether he's jealous, and he first angrily says "Of course I'm jealous" and then quickly adds "(because) you didn't invite me", since he doesn't want to admit/show that he is really hurt. Even when he yells "No! My sweet, bloodthirsty friend" you can hear it in his tone - the "No" sound legitimately worried, and then he adds the rest to cover up that worry. Not to mention he only says this if you have high relationship with him, so it's clear that he *does* care about you in these moments.

@@Deadpan_Snarker oh I could never cheat on him so I'll never hear that line in my game lol. You're right, of course. I'm just weird and wish these reactions felt a bit more genuine. Or maybe over time they become more sincere.
