@@Aightbuddtell me about it, first time I realised I was recalling something which happened when I was in high school, and that thing also happened over 20 years ago I had a mild existential crisis 😂
wars game 1313 was probably the spiritual sequel to Bounty Hunter but it got cancelled when Disney bought Star Wars and stopped every projects in development.
LucasArts underwent a change in management in 2004, which resulted in most ongoing projects being outsourced or cancelled. We only barely got Republic Commando, as an example, and the sequel, Imperial Commando, never made it out of the conceptual phase. It's possible they were making a Bounty Hunter sequel, but it would've been part of that 2004 cull. If you look, there's a slew of LucasArts-developed games for Episodes I and II, but not Episode III, as a consequence of this cull. LucasArts internally developed and released at least one Star Wars game every year between 1995 and 2002. Any project started in 2002 and 2003 would've been part of the 2004 cull, and so we only got Republic Commando in 2005 before the company restructuring was complete. All this and more is on the LucasArts Wikipedia page, very easy to find and read. Please keep in mind that I said "LucasArts-developed" games; this doesn't apply to games published or licensed by LucasArts but developed by somebody else, such as Battlefront.
I like that they made the bounty scan run on slow motion now, you can actually read why people are wanted. The original game made it very difficult to get all bounties, especially in certain levels like the prison where everyone was running around trying to kill you. Not to mention some folks would just run off cliffs or get eaten before you could get to them lol.
I have the exact same memories with my buddy except we played on PS2 and followed the paperback “strategy guide” to find all the bounties. There were no RU-vid walkthroughs available in 2002 🤣 good times and great memories
Because of the remaster I was finally able to finish this game for the first time yesterday! Besides some frustrating levels I had a blast and really really enjoyed my time with the game. And my thumb didn't fall off! Thank God for the modern controls lol.
I have fond memories of this game. Me and brothers yelling at each other on what to do next. And Our Ma taking our ps2 away from so we would stop yelling.
If you're planning on getting all bounties, keep in mind they will absolutely walk off ledges to their doom before you even see them. Look up a guide, or suffer like I suffered.
This was one of the few games I rented back in the day on Gamecube. I loved it so much. I'm definitely getting it on Switch for the portability. I played through the entirety of Episode 1 Racer in the bathroom lol.
@@radedgymantis it seems you don't know much about game development... As someone actually in the games industry as an environment artist AI upscaling has even been used in some modern AAA games, it's simply sometimes just quicker to upscale something at a later date than going through and doing it from scratch It was confirmed to have been used in Aspyrs remasters of the Knight of the old republic and their battlefront collection so we know Aspyr have used AI upscaling before (and they even left the artefacts of the upscale in Battlefront collection haha)
The use of AI upscale isnt a problem in itself. It s a great tool and it can save a lot of time to focus on other aspects of the game. The problem is when it's poorly done without any correction, cleaning artefacts or reworking the broken textures . Like we saw in GTA remasters at release.
0:05 I do remember that but not in Star Wars game but in GTA San Andreas lol. There is like a old mod back from 2011 or so for GTA San Andreas called GTA San Anderius, that takes GTA and puts it in the futuristic setting in the future, with flying cars and stuff. And since it is a mod for GTA San Andreas, you have a jetpack in there and that is where I remember doing it 😅
Great video! Ive gotten like three very weird AI videos about this remaster in my recommended and I actually thought this was another one from the thumbnail. Really cool to find a real person with good commentary and editing instead of ChatGPT with text-to-speech.
Like the idea that Jango is a psychopath who's coincidentally a bounty hunter, simply because some of the people he massacres just so happen to have a bounty on their heads.
considering the utter train wreck that was the Battlefront Collection, it is surprising to see how well this turned out. Sure this might not be an amazing remaster by any means but at least its serviceable...
Two completely different types of games. Plus they released a Tomb Raider remaster after Battlefront Collection which was also excellent. Most of their remasters are good.
@@michaelandreipalon359not entirely, it’s still sitting at the negatives it seems Not that it’s worth it, 50 GB for something that used to cost around 10 GB is absurd
@@ryon5174 That's probably because they haven't been rereviewed out of fear and misguided spite. Really, revisits should be worth it at times... anything that can finally eclipse those bloated EA Disney Alt-universe Battlefronts has to very much worth it nowadays.
Never had this game growing up due to having an Xbox, playing it now and I’m loving it. Cool to see the graphics comparison between the old version and remaster.
6:35 probably a little known fact from this chapter is that one of its last bounties is one Meeko Ghintee... and that something more could have been made from it (i.e. such as Jango encountering him elsewhere rather than with a gaggle of prisoners, having a cutscene or a VO play addressing the fact that Meeko still is alive, and Jango deliver a one-liner after Meeko is wasted) other that him being one of the few bounties that is worth more dead than alive.
lol what? Just no, The Jedi Fallen Order and Jedi Survivor games have been FANTASTIC and they've done an excellent job making brilliant star wars games with those two as they've reached mass critical acclaim and praise! And even tho it had a rough launch, Star Wars Battlefront 2 turned into a incredible multiplayer entirely so with a fantastic community that really turned that game around. What you're saying is just nonsense as people DO know how to make good to GREAT Star Wars games nowadays. What you're saying doesn't make any sense NOR true AT ALL. There is no "tHEy'rE liKe" because they DO know how to make incredible and fantastic Star Wars games these days.
@@Gadget-Walkmen My son, I shall not get angry with you, for you must not know the glory of 90's and early 2000's Star Wars games. Just typing Dark Forces and Jedi Knight makes me cry, and then theres Galactic Battlegrounds, X-Wing Alliance, Gungan Frontier, The Phantom Menace game, Force Commander, and yet more
Lucasfilm is making an effort to preserve some of their best licensed games, which is something most big studios like Disney and Warner Bros won't even do, and yet people are still trying to shit on them or the good games being released today like Fallen Order. Unbelievable man, people need to grow up. It's okay to shit on them when they do something bad, but it's also okay to praise them when they do something right. That's how giving good feedback works.
I loved this game so much as a kid and even bought it on my PS4 so I can't believe I never even heard this remaster was being made until I saw a video about it yesterday.
I literally just finished playing Bounty Hunter right before this was announced. Not going to replay it again just for a shinier Jango model and modern lighting. But the game was fun enough that if I decide to do a replay 10 years down the line I will pick up the remaster. Coruscant, Malastare and Tatooine levels were awesome. Oovo IV not so much. I love the jetpack gameplay and jumping and flipping around over enemies.
@@123mandalore777 oh that particular level was the worst for me in entire game, so... I'd rather pass chapter 3 again than have to deal with those tusken and their enemies
I remember following the paperback “strategy guide” to this game to find all the bounties. There were no RU-vid walkthroughs available in 2002 🤣 Great memories!
From what I've played so far, I actually think that the gameplay shines MORE with the modified controls (and the graphical improvements add a nice touch as well).
The “legacy controls” are still really weird, and I played the original version on Gamecube lots growing up. I wish Aspyr would let us remap them as we see fit with an update
I swear I remember reading somewhere yonks ago they had a sequel planned that focused on boba fett in his early years as a bounty hunter before it got culled?
@@bes5164 Yes and No. It would be an original story between episodes IV And V that would focus on Boba Fett before being hired by Vader to hunt down Han Solo.
This video couldn't come at a better time as I'm currently hyped on 00's nostalgia. As someone who doesn't own the original console, I'm really excited to have a PC release. Ive wanted to play this game since I saw your first video on it 😂
Half the time I try to run diagonally, Jango just walks instead. I've tried compensating for this by adjusting the deadzones on it but that didn't help. I've used this same controller for other games and haven't had an issue with those. Is anybody else experiencing this?
this game is one of my all-time favorites I remember owning and playing on the GameCube till I unfortunately lost it now I have the ps2 emulation game for the PS4 but it runs not so god
Never got to play this game when it first released but it’s cool it got a remastered version that is good. Pretty neat that you get to play as a mandalorian
Maybe it would have been a lot more work than I think but it would have been absolutely perfect for them to change his blasters to sound like they did in the movie
I have the Gamecube version. I enjoyed the fighting, scanning for bounties, and finding secrets. Exploring Curascant was really cool. I'd like to try the remaster, but I haven't had much free time since the Olympics started.
I can really see why people who grew up during the pre EA Star Wars games look fondly on thst era. Not only were there so many more games but they were both really good and had variety especially when you consider some of these games got multiple versions across consoles, pc and handhelds. If that isn't a technical accomplishment I don't know what is.
I'd assume the Hutt casts two shadows because Tattooine has two suns. I wonder if everything on Tattooine has two shadows. That'd be absolutely stellar attention to detail.
Imma be very honest here, this review, is so refreshing. This is honest to God. One of the better video content produced. I really like this format, you earned a sub brother! Keep at it 😜
this game is 15 gb on steam, this cant be the same team that made the battlefront classic collection, I refuse to believe these are the same people, they mustve fired everyone and hired actual game developers.
@@10011110011 oh my fucking god dude Im just saying that Im glad its not a 60 GB broken game like the classic collection. They finally got the bare minimum right its surreal, its like they hired actual game devs.
I still dream of a complete remaster of Jedi Power Battles. The game was janky and difficult on the platforming parts buy me and my cousin loved it and played it so many times through. Plo Koon was my guy, don't think I ever played as anyone else.
My childhood wouldn't be the same without jedi power battles, this game (bounty hunter) & the 2 great lord of the rings hack n slashes (two towers and rotk). Especially jedi power battles is particularly very overlooked/ underrated. I get why people hate/ hated it, I was right up there too, so many shouting matches with playing 2 co-op mode with family lol (mostly because the platforming is ridiculous, but is oddly charming). But hell of a solid & fun game, especially at the time, still definitely playable too
Keep in my mind folks, this isnt a remaster. nowhere on any product page is the word "remaster" mentioned even once. This is very simply a port with a few QOL changes added to make it feel a little more modern. Stop expecting raytracing with 4k textures and a brand new physics engine. its just a port, and a pretty decent one at that.
7:27 It took me *forever* to get through the death stick factory. It traumatized me so much that I have never played it again to this day (but you bet your ass I will now). Though it wasn't the slide section, it was those fucking Bando Gora dart snipers.
I mean it looks alright, idk. Tony Hawks 1+2 is to me the Gold standard of how to do a remaster. Alongside Crash Bandicoot and Spyro's remasters they really make an old game feel modern with the original game as a starting point. This feels like throwing a quick coat of paint on something and calling it a day.
The great thing about these old games is cheat codes, it doesn't look like there's an official code for infinite jetpack but I found a gameshark code for the PS2 version. It should work on pcsx2 as well, if you know how to add it. Not sure how easy the remaster is to mod but someone might be able to do it or make a cheat engine table.
@@mariodelgadogt I think that only supports the official cheat codes? I'm not sure tho. GameShark / Action Replay codes edit RAM while the game's running so there'd need to be a system to facilitate that.
Welp, you've sold me on it. I played it once or twice at a friend's house as a kid and vaguely remember enjoying it (despite my continuing utter inability to use a controller instead of mouse and keyboard), but wasn't sure if that was just nostalgia speaking.
For me this game is more an enhanced port than a remaster. A true remaster doesn’t just upscale things but adds in a bit of redesign to make the age a bit less apparent.
I am extremly confused ... I can not find a remaster version for this game only the original i allready have for my ps4/5 😕 Am i missing something (is it a simple update ?) or is it only for PC or certain regions (im in Germany) I cant find anything in the Playstore or on Google 😑 ?!
I didn't expect them to make actual improvements to the game. 2:51 that screenshot is extremely worrying though. Not having button mapping is downright insulting. We had button mapping ever since the SNES FFS. It's unacceptable, even on consoles.
