From the moment they introduced Zykov to the story I immediately got sus vibes. We’ve seen countless testimonies of people turning into monsters from prolonged exposure to the dark aether (in fire base Z intel) but somehow this man has been there for years (even longer in the dark aether) and he seems to be ok 🧐. @@Haildarklordvader she apparently isn't okay, if you listened to the tapes. Sure she's got powers but there's a massive cost to it, not to mention her life before Monty gave her a new timeline to grow up in... but yeah, she's....fine.
I’ve only just come back to watch this video after not having followed the story since black ops 4, and the strangest thing to me is Samantha being called “Maxis”, I’m used to her dad being called Maxis, and Samantha just being called her first name 😂

I'm glad they included the outbreak easter eggs as well, since I mostly only do the round based maps so this fills in the gaps that I didn't experience.
The story is so complex and insane and all the hidden easter eggs makes everything past black ops 3 need it's own game campaign style with the story playing out the way it's meant to be seen.
Man, I am so happy your making videos again. I know you've been back for a bit now, and I don't even play zombies these days any more, yet I am still caught up on the zombies universe thanks to you Milo. Keep up the great content and the great attitude.
Zykov is definitely the forsaken, grows really strong from being in the dark aether for so long (look at sam's powers after three days), the Russians locked him into the lab on a death mission so he was "forsaken"
The forsaken got sent in to stop the portal but instead he enters it to become the strongest thing in there to then come back out of it to kill samather which is an amazing idea because he technically time travels to present day and doesn't age and gets to steal her dark arther power... also that's why peak chucks her in there so the forsaken can kill her and peak knows of his existence? But instead it makes her more powerful. Also quick note at the end of the recap it shows the loading screen of the actual map and you didn't notice the footage of the rcxd? it wasnt in the original trailer...
Wonder if that means Zykov's actually the Forsaken (or became something akin to it), after shutting down the Cyclotron and getting trapped in the Dark Aether.
I’ve been saying for months that Zykov ain’t Zykov.. and he’s more than likely dead and being impersonated by the Forsaken or he is the forsaken.. I’ve literally tried to push it with videos, tweets ect.. but no one wanted to know but now it’s been said by Treyarch it’s all most people wanna talk about.. 🙃 it’s harder being a small creator and trying to push a point for everyone to sink their teeth into.. all I hope now is my hard work pays off and I’m proven right.
I have no interest in Vanguard, think I have tried to force myself to enjoy CoD over the years but I cant just keep buying it for zombies now. Doesn’t mean I’m not looking forward to watching all of its zombie content here though:) Still love to keep up with the story.
A no HUD option would actually be really nice, I think games with no HUD tend to be more immersive and they have to be more clever about how they give the player important information which I like.

I keep telling people time is different in the dark aether and there's no way zykov could still be alive but they keep saying the inversion warheads were actually for the forsaken but in the outbreak cutscene ravenov changes course to the Pacific and you can see it was originally set to New York with other yellow markers around the east coast. That's not where the forsaken is? It just makes it seem like maxis is right and "kravchenco lied" about pulling the wool over us
Don't know if it's already been talked about, but at least one of the hints he's referencing for "eagle-eared" players, is an Intel radio where Strauss talks about not knowing if he has the strength to help close up the dark aether and thereby destroy the worth of all the research he's done. Strauss then references someone in from ww2, a demonologist, who went through the same struggle while facing a similar issue. I figure this demonologist will be our "Strauss" for the next game.
Milo, I miss the days of watching your videos on the Aether storyline…how you invested so much time and brain power into connecting the dots, specially when Blundell released the timeline for BO3. Now, Treyarch has to do it for you…or should I say, for themselves as you were the backbone for a decade. Man, time has flown by. At least you’re still popping up when it’s necessary. Same but Cold War zombies is supposed to be the continuity of the original story but in a universe that was supposed to be perfect clean of the dark aether
Hey Milo, is there a chance that when we are in the last in Vanguard, it’s really just that the strike team and/or Maxis go back in time to ww2 to stop something from happening before it happens. Maybe stop the forsaken at his roots
That'd be cool, it's technically possible but unlikely, unless they were to send specific characters back in time (grey, carver strauss and maxis maybe) as they'd have to port all the cold war operators over otherwise

Is it bad that I found the chaos story more interesting than cold wars? I don't know I feel that no main 4 characters just means I don't really care what happens to the characters
The playable characters are not the story. The story is everything but the characters. The Main characters are Samantha, Weaver, Director, Ravenov. The enemies are The Foresaken, and Omega and The Nazis.
@@idestructiiion1337 yeah I know what you're saying and you are right, it might be some god complex but I just don't care what happens to those 4 characters, I don't feel any kind of attachment to them yet, maybe that will change but I have a feeling it won't. In vanguard (if we are going to the 1945ish era) we won't see these characters for a while, the same way I didnt care for the ZISL characters. I don't really know, all I do is that zombies feels a bit empty with out the og 4, was playing since WaW and now they're gone I'm kind of getting bored of the story. Also, playing 4 characters you miss out on the story between them, the comedy, the tragedy, it feels like it's taking itself a bit to serious, even with primis you still had some comedy and yeah a lot of tragedy. I think the amount of people playing blackops 3 still abd people playing cold war says it all really :/
@@philipcrosby3462 How can you not care about Samantha bruh. She is the most OG character. Even Weaver. And the director could be Eddie. I mean WaW had random playable characters as well in the beginning.
@@idestructiiion1337 Jesus dude calm down, I was just giving my thoughts on it sorry I dont think the way you do 😂 and no, Samantha was created in Der riese and the ultimus crew were created in shino numa. And yeah the first 2 maps were but one of the most played maps in WaW was der riese so untill Bo1 that mostly what people were playing, I know I'm living in the past but primis and ultimus got a shitty ending and shitty maps in bo4. I somewhat care for maxid but not really, zombies used have some light in it but now it's just sooooo serious that what I used to love about the game is just gone, cold war imo could have been brilliant but the fact we have operators that couldnt give damn about just ruins it, in my opinion. Great gameplay though
@@idestructiiion1337 "the playable characters are not the story" yes....BUT THEY GIVE THE STORY A SOUL We play a fps, the playable character and especially the voicelines are a gateway to the person behind the controller.....in CW there is 0 interaction between the playable characters, outcome: makes them all feel irrelevant aka train go boom Even in Blackout the characters had unique voicelines and interactions with eachother 5 minutes of ee cutscene doesnt make anyone interesting or likeable, CW did a lot of good things when it comes to gameplay and design but telling a story through ~600 pieces of intel is lame asf
Watched this on my own, and this was such an interesting video from Treyarch I love this little storytelling style. Every game (Especially the Multi Dimension mess and beauty, called Black Ops III), a recap would be amazing in every game
Could there be a connection between Kazimir Zykov and the Kasimir Mechanism in Ascension? Could Ascension Group also have reached through the veil and contacted Zykov?
Hopefully we get 4 main characters that we play as the further we get into this story. Honestly the team I would assemble is Maxis, Ravenov, Weaver and Eddie, however we have no idea if Eddie is alive in this universe so maybe someone else instead. That'd be so cool
I'm dumbfounded that they haven't tied him in this late in the game. Alot of folks on this channel figured Richtofen was the mysterious traveler but turns out it was just Ravenov. The last hail mary theory i heard was he might be the director but I'm like 2 months behind on this narrative.
I haven’t played cod zombies since black ops 2, but this looks really interesting. I’d like to play zombies, but I can imagine it’s difficult to solo everything, asking for a friend.
Oh Zykov went in there back in world war 2? Wonder if since vanguard zombies will be a prequel we will actually get to see full on dark aether maps. I mean I doubt it since they don’t have much time to make them but it would be nice since this is the dark aether storyline and there’s been barely any dark aether.

Honestly a hardcore zombie mode, with limited or no hud, less resources perhaps and with increased damage and set zombie damage/hp would be really cool; where the main challenge is both logistics aswell as the amount of zombies instead of just same zombie higher hp/dmg.
what was the deal with Olov in Die Machine? Maybe I'm mis-remebering, but I thought he was the russian soldier that was sealed in the bunker, and one of the EE steps was to get the Olov family portrait to lure him out of the dark aether. Who is Zykov? Maybe im trippin...
I personally dont want sam to die. Shes the last character from the aether story that remains(besides eddie, but we havent seen him yet). Treyarch already killed off primis and ultimus in a lame way. I really wanna see sam get a happy ending.
@@Harigan they wrote it as if they needed to die. Treyarch could have wrote it differently, but they were forced to rush the ending so they can move onto chaos story
Can someone link me an indepth full storyline of coldwar, im a little confused about it but the closest i can get to an indepth one starts at origins and ends when sam goes into the tunnel. I need to know EVERYTHING from die machina onwards to what ever this is about the forsaken and maxis. All i can find is "forsaken ending explained" but i dont want any spoilers till i filly know the previous bits
What if maxis is being manipulated by the forsaken , so she went behind requiem and manipulated the strike team to destroy the Inversion Warhead. in preparation for the coming of the forsaken one and now zyklov which is probably the forsaken tricking omega and requiem to get him out.
So, the dark aether story will continue in Vanguard. Meaning the main characters from that game must be the new Ultimis crew. Seems to me the new zombie storyline is taking the JJ Abrams Star Trek route.
Zykov = Forsaken, 100%. As soon as they mentioned that they were going after Zykov, who has been stuck in there for decades or centuries, that was instantly my thought!
@@MrRoflWaffles I guess I was just misremembering, because of Treyarch saying the HUD would be "Fully Customizable" before launch, which I guess was an over exaggeration 😑
