I tested everything they had in the instruction manual, range, speed, hills and more. Have to say, this is a pretty killer budget ebike. Couldn't find anything I didn't like about it.

Got my 700 6 months ago. Love it. I've put 1350 miles on it with absolutely no problems. I live on a big hill and the brakes and climbing power are terrific. The gears shift precisely. The ride on bumpy roads is smooth with the wide tires and suspension fork. I often take 30-35 mile rides with the pedal assist in mid range (level 4 or 5 of 9) and return with plenty of battery. The handlebar stem can be adjusted to raise the bar 3" and move it 3" closer to rider which I did to give me an upright riding position. At first the cadence based pedal assist didn't feel good. But with a little practice I now love it. The brief delay in onset of power with cadence assist can be totally eliminated with a quick tap of the thumb throttle. The brief delay in cutting off power when you stop pedaling can likewise be eliminated with a slight twitch of the brake handle. These little touches become reflexive second nature making for a smooth comfortable ride. The bike is still solid with no rattles or squeaks. At around 800 miles on the odometer I had a bike mechanic do a tune up, which amounted to changing the brake pads, tightening the rear wheel spokes a bit, lubing the chain, and wiping dust off the frame, otherwise the bike was in perfect condition. I think this review by Bryon described the performance of this bike very well. I would attest to its outstanding quality of build, reliability, and comfort. While I haven't had any problems to discuss with the Ride 1 Up company, they have been quickly and competently responsive when I contacted them with a few questions. As you can tell, I'm fan of this bike. I think it can't be beat for value, performance, comfort, and reliability in the $1500 price range. I forgot to say it looks real good too. It gets lots of compliments.

Do you have any advice for attaching a basket to the rear rack? I’m looking into this for grocery runs.
@999pudge
@999pudge 2 года назад
@@username19237 Hi. I don't have any info on attaching a basket to rear rack. However, my advise would be to get panniers. I use them regularly for grocery shopping. In the side pocket of the panniers I fold up a bag that has straps to put my arms through and carry on my back. I can handle 3 bags of groceries with this set up. Panniers take up less room when parking the bike and make mounting easier than with baskets.

A heads up for people watching this review. After many test rides (bikes up to $7k) and research we bought 2 Ride1Up 700s. We were hesitant to purchase before trying but these bikes are perfect! Other ebikes have a almost dangerous power distribution thats not adjustable and we found other issues we didnt like on every test ride (no thumb throttle, uncomfortable, etc). This bike has everything, power settings and display fully customizable and very nice to ride with or without power assist. Speed and battery life are amazing. Looks and comfort are as well. Great product all the way around

If you crash and break a brake lever, can the wiring be disconnected so it doesn't have to be completely withdrawn from within the frame in order to replace just the lever? In other words, are there "quick disconnects" for each remote component?

I bought 2 of these bikes about 3 months apart. First one went together well the 2nd suffers from severe quality issues. The customer service, which is basically 1 person, weasels out of everything, they have a story for everything and blame you for the reason the bike is lemon. I am now considering filing a complaint with my state's attorney general. First bike was as described above the 2nd one is a lemon, broken parts, parts that will not assemble, its a joke.

Nice review! Have a 700-really is a great E-Bike. At 235 lbs and using level 2 and 3 I usually charge when the battery is down to around 30% and have gone around 35 miles. Really enjoy pedaling in level 2 while cruising at 17 mph. On large hills I use Pedal Assist 3. For the same effort one uses to go around 10mph on a regular city bike you are easily nearly doubling your speed. I have found that there are several good bikes with similar quality and components but the 700 is a better value.

@@granadosable I do not find it annoying and it is a good audible gauge of how your motor is running. It is part of the ride. This is really a nice EBike , I have looked at most available in this price range and for the price there is nothing better. The sound on the video seems a bit amplified probably due to the recording level or the volume setting on your computer.

I saw your review of the Macwheel and I realize these two bikes are worlds apart, but if it was your first eBike would the Macwheel be sufficient or should I just pony up and get something more like this? I really like the look of the 700 and the Brown/Grey combo on the 500. Thanks for the review and keep up the good fight!!
@ElectricRevolution
@ElectricRevolution 3 года назад
Macwheel is killer for the price but the seat is pretty hard, handlebars lower than I prefer so for long distances, you do get a little sore if you're not use to riding. The 700 is a bit more comfortable and can't argue with the power. Not sure what to tell you, both bikes are good for the price. Depends on what you want to spend :)

What do you mean when you say battery is at 50% and then a peddle assist level? Battery % usually means how much battery is left. What do you mean by battery assist here?

Not sure if I wanted to plunge into a E-Bike, but given that some high end regular hybrid bikes are already $1000+ might as well get an E-Bike. That being said, I'm surprised a dynamo styled battery charger hasn't been engineered to help send a bit of charge to battery while your tires are spinning....
@ElectricRevolution
@ElectricRevolution 3 года назад
You would think that would be one of the first things they would add. I'm sure we'll see it soon enough
@rcpmac
@rcpmac 2 года назад
That’s basically what the motor is but it requires a reversing circuit and controller to switch it into generating mode under light braking. This would be a feature that the motor manufacturer would have to incorporate. It shouldn’t be too difficult but would add costs and this is a value engineered ebike

I agree that this bike is a "beast" given its weight and bulk. Not sure it's much of a bargain / value, however. I recently received a 700 and after assembly - including unsuccessful hunts for instructions online (the skimpy "user manual" that ships with the bike is incomplete) - I took the bike out for a test ride... It is heavy, slow, not very ergonomic nor fun to ride and feels every bit like the ~ $300 bike drop shipped from China that the initial ride leads me to believe that it is. I would avoid this bike. I've ordered direct-to-consumer bikes before, including an e-bike via Walmart that was easier to assemble, a better ride, lighter (40lbs vs. 50+) and about 1/3 the price. It is hard to justify this bike and its reviews and I end up scratching my head and wondering if the same bike was ridden and/or where do I sign up to have the company pay me to market for them? If they paid well perhaps I'd distort the review to explain that, yes, it really does have a 500 watt hub motor that, although very sluggish in power levels 1 and 2, starts to kick in at 4. Sigh. I really wish this were the bike that reviewers say it is. Unfortunately I've nothing but buyer's remorse. My recommendation: buy any of the competitors: either the ones for $600 - $700 from Amazon and Walmart, or the very solid Rad City. I can't see why this bike costs $1700+. It is not worth half that.

A far better ebike, with a stronger motor, better quality build, automotive grade finish, and built by a real factory (not Chinesium like R1Up uses) is the Aventon LEVEL. No they are not clones of each other. At all. Other than basic outline of frame. Besides that Aventon's Levels can be bought LOCALLY (over 200 dealers nationwide) where you can top notch assembly, and professional service after the sale. You wont get ANY of that with R1Up, who is the least professional on line seller of ebikes you will ever meet, after the sale. I bought one, and sent it back, bc too many problems that their people did not know how to resolve. Bought the Aventon Level after that, and its just been heads and shoulders better than the 700. Get with the REAL bike company, Aventon, who was building real bikes before R1up ever came in existence, as a mere importer slapping their logo on some POS 3rd party chinesium made, no QC, and no support.
