Allie, I'm seriously impressed with your learning curve and taking it on. There's a lot of attention to detail when working with these modern bows. A lot can go wrong, but when it's right, that's why they are ssssoooooo efficient and able to deliver so much energy into the arrow, which is delivered to the target. Great job!! 👍

I wish RU-vid was around back in 1973 when I got into Bow hunting, started out with a recurve than a Bear Polar 2 compound bow. Than went to Oneida Phantom, than Oneida X80 than to Hoyt bows, still have one Oneida bow and 2 Hoyt bows and 2 TenPoint Crossbows. Had to teach myself since I turned 23 and got home from Vietnam while in the Marines. I taught my 3 son's and they enjoyed it and have taught their children. 3 sons, 13 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Thank you for what you do for the sport and outdoors.

Good Job Allie! Like I said, you'll never go back. On cam lean, buy yourself a piece of 1/8" thick by 1" wide aluminum. Use it as a straight edge. Place the edge on the side of one of the cams. Put the other end on the side of the other cam. The cams should be parallel to the aluminum straight edge. The length of aluminum will need to be at least 8" longer than the bow's axle to axle length. Hope that helps.

You have more guts than me on using the draw board. I was tuning my bow and somehow dry fired it, and I almost cried... great to see you learning more about how the bow functions and not just another trophy hunter. Keep up the great videos.

You can twist or untwist the string to make fine adjustments to your draw length

When you were working on the cam timing, doesnt the lean backwards and the lack of an installed D-loop effefct this timing? I know im still a compound newb

Good work 😜, I agree with Tim Berg. All I would add is a 1" D-loop for forgiveness & focus on your anchor point since your form & muscle memory with the bow is established.

Find your nocking point first Then start the draw test Also use the press to fine adjust the draw test When it clicks stop let it lock then screw press out so you can really fine tune Good job young lady

To measure your draw length properly by measuring from the wall to the corner of your mouth you must turn your head like you're shooting a bow

6:26 You shouldn't draw your bow without an arrow on the string. You risk a dry fire. Be careful. Love the videos.

Not hey great video or good for you. No no u went to the one thing anybody with more than a month knows. Unbelievable. I pull mine all the time no arrow what I don’t do like her is release it without arrow. I know go to bow shop and stand there and complain because the don’t ever put a arrow in to draw it. If all you have is negative shit to say stay off a positive video. Go watch politics.

@@SuperSYMPATHIZER I did say I love the videos. I didn't say don't dry fire your bow, I said you run the risk of a dry fire. The release could be faulty, the D-loop could break or slip or a hundred other things could go wrong. If you go to a bow shop that doesn't put an arrow on a bow and stand you in front of a safe backstop, then you need to find a new shop. Unless they hand you the special release that isn't really a release that just hooks on the D-Loop, but even then the D-Loop could slip. I worked in a shop for several years and you wouldn't believe the idiotic things I've seen people do. I always comment positive things on her videos. I've been following her for a long time and she has always said that she is learning and appreciates comments that help her to learn. Way to try to be a white knight.

Ya know Allie ,.....the PSE EVO NXT 31 has tons of draw length adjustment,....that you of course could adjust without a bow press that is.

and another tip, when you get within a half inch of draw stops hitting, use the press instead of the draw board, way more accurate

Spoiler alert: Cam booping incoming at 8:51 :) Nice work with the press, Allie! It will be interesting to see if the grouping is going to be better now that you adjusted for timing. I guess it could possibly...I don't pretend to know anything about it but it makes sense that need both cams to run in parallel not in series. I did the finger tip to finger tip divided by 2 and got 29 1/2". When I went to the pro shop, they measured me and got 29 1/2".

Gonna have to buy some rock mods to change out the draw length Allie. That's what I had to do with my halon 5.

You should be able to get a mod from Mathews for your draw length. You may need to use the tophats for paper tuning when you get there.

Kenny Parsons did some great videos and are still there although his site is not doing new stuff. Definitely look at his videos As a side note his body went through a major change over years and is a testament to change.😉

You can change the draw length if you change the mod on the cam.

Great job, Allie! Your new strings seem to be made almost exact since you had to do very little cable/string twisting. You must be pretty tall, but I would stick with 28" DL since 1) Nick said almost 71", 2) 71/2.5 = 28.4, and 3) Mathews bows tend to be a bit long compared to rockmod length so a 28" mod will actually run 28.25" - 28.5" DL. Also, being marginally short DL will help on those hunts when you are wearing a coat with bulky sleeves to keep the arm bent slightly more and keep the sleeve away from the string on release. Curious to know where your cam reference timing marks align with your cables now that the draw stops are synched.

I'm a newbie to working on bow too.... but shouldn't the nock/d-loop position be found first before doing cam timing? Great vids tho! You are inspiring me to go out and get myself press!
