What jurisdiction can you carry (open or concealed) an sbr? I thought it was against the law federally? In Florida concealed carry pistol only and no rifle carry, let alone an sbr. Rifle has to "be contained". I guess that means in the trunk or in a rifle bag. You can open carry a pistol while traveling to and from and while fishing, hunting and target shooting. I know some states that allow open carry of long arms but know of none that allow sbrs for open carry.

SBR's are still a rifle. They aren't some weird mythical thing that completely removes your rights to use them. Pennsylvania is a constitutional open carry state for all legal arms. Further, Pennsylvania defines "Firearm" as the following: Title 27 CFR Chapter II Part 479 Firearm. (a) A shotgun having a barrel or barrels of less than 18 inches in length; (b) a weapon made from a shotgun if such weapon as modified has an overall length of less than 26 inches or a barrel or barrels of less than 18 inches in length; (c) a rifle having a barrel or barrels of less than 16 inches in length; (d) a weapon made from a rifle if such weapon as modified has an overall length of less than 26 inches or a barrel or barrels of less than 16 inches in length; (e) any other weapon, as defined in this subpart; (f) a machine gun; (g) a muffler or a silencer for any firearm whether or not such firearm is included within this definition; and (h) a destructive device. PA Title 18 Chapter 61 (Uniform Firearms Act) Section 6102 Definitions "Firearm." Any pistol or revolver with a barrel length less than 15 inches, any shotgun with a barrel length less than 18 inches or any rifle with a barrel length less than 16 inches, or any pistol, revolver, rifle or shotgun with an overall length of less than 26 inches. The barrel length of a firearm shall be determined by measuring from the muzzle of the barrel to the face of the closed action, bolt or cylinder, whichever is applicable. In Pennsylvania we have a "license to carry firearms". Therefore your license covers arms that fall under the definition of "firearm" in the uniform firearms act. "Any rifle with a barrel length less than 16 inches". Read that carefully. Understand your human rights, understand mans law, and determine where you stand within those. Hope that helps.

@TATargets do you not need a permit in Pennsylvania to conceal carry? Or am I wrong. Ask as a new firearm owner seeking information. Have very similar mindset as spoken about in this video. Ps. Is there a video you have of what all you pack in the bag such as medical etc besides the rifle?

That being said, a bag gun is not a replacement for a concealed carry pistol. If you get mugged or jumped, the bag gun isn't gonna help you. But either way, it's no reason to be a prey animal.

I think the type of rifle he carries is a bit extreme for the role. Ideally what he is filling is the role of the PDW. I don't think a rifle fills that role the best because it's a massive inconvenience. I think this is where PDWs come into play. Small pistol caliber firearms that are the next step up from a pistol that give you that extra force multiplier without being a major inconvenience. Certainly a requirement for my bag gun is that it doesn't cause my bag to become a gun bag. I want it to do all the other stuff a bag does as well and covertly carrying a bit extra firepower. Flux, TP9, MPX, APC9K are all options you can't go wrong with. I'd really like an even smaller offering but right now there's not many good options on the market right now that fit the civilian PDW role. I recommend you watch Brass Facts video on the different types of societal collapse and his PDW series since they're both very relevant to this topic.

I put the pushback from backpack rifles in the same bucket as I place the “I dOnT oPeN cArRy” comments… in the trash. There’s only one way to change the culture, and that’s by more people open carrying and having rifles in bags. Generally speaking, having a rifle in a bag is a great idea, just like having a rifle in your car, and having a pistol on your hip. I literally grew up in the hood, not just some observer. And now I live in a rural area. I will always carry both a pistol on my hip and a rifle in my bag or in my car next to me. Buffer tube stuck out but was wrapped and made the whole thing look like a tennis racket. Three weeks in church before anyone noticed. Customer of mine saw it, wrapped his tube with Wilson. He has a funny story of him and his tennis racket. This is way before braces and folders.

Where I live, especially this time of year (deer season), It’s a safe bet that there’s a rifle in every fifth pickup truck. It may be a Marlin lever gun rather than an AR, but it’ll work. I’ve done a lot of training with a guy who was the undersheriff of that (very rural, agricultural) county and who ran their SWAT/Warrant Squad, and he relayed that in training scenarios like an active shooter at the local high school, it was always emphasized that: “Every girl at that school has both a cellphone and a dad nearby with a rifle in his truck. When she’s scared she’s more likely to call him first and us second. Don’t assume that anyone on scene with a rifle is the threat.”

Most folks fall into the neutral camp. They just wanna survive and preserve what's theirs. Also, not all good people want to carry the burden of being armed, and deal with the potential repercussions that can come from it. I love taking on the "Unpopular Opinion" threads, opening with "I believe that if you have served your time, and stay out of trouble for say 1,2,or3 years (open for debate), you get your rights back by keeping your nose clean." Monsters, and we know they exist, they're the reason we carry, belong locked away from the public because they pose a threat still. As you said, if they want a gun, they're going to get a gun. Denying someone the ability to protect themselves from the same level of threat they may face walking down the road is not ok. Why do police get special treatment when it comes to firearms? The general public is exposed to the same level of threats walking down the road as officers on patrol are, and the general public is more likely to be targeted for criminal victimization than a uniformed officer is. TL:DR Done your time? Nose clean? Carry on. Monsters belong behind bars.

It sticks out just an inch above my current backpack so now Im looking for a new one. I’m glad you guys are talking about bag rifle setups and carrying them. It shouldn’t be a fringe or extreme thing, it should be a thing of responsibility and preparedness. I've got a 12.5" AR as well, no LAW folder on it just a carbine buffer tube. With no muzzle device or a short muzzle device it'll fit just fine. It looks pretty goofy, I won't lie, and there isn't any room for anything else in the main pocket with the gun save for maybe a change of clothes, but it works well. Find out what your shortest overall length is, then look for backpacks that are an inch longer than that, that's what I did to find mine.

@@keegenke yessir that’s what I’m doing. Flash hider is staying on tho since I bought my first suppressor recently and I’m gonna need the flash hider for attachment. I can actually carry my 10.5 AK if I take off the muzzle device (it’s a big fat flash can) but it’s very bulky and heavy I’d prefer to carry the 12.5 or actually when I get a new bag I might be able to comfortably carry the AK too but I’d prefer the ar. My backpack now is an old North Face bag the 12.5 just sticks out an inch over it. So now I’m looking at backpacks with around a 20” height/length. Which is like the very limit of every day backpacks… most of the bags I’m seeing are hiking packs and travel bags but theres a few good casual looking bags that won’t draw too much attention and look like they have a lot of space. So now I’m trying to decide on one and still weighing my options lol.

I had spent an inordinate amount of time looking before I found a bag for my AR pistol 300 blackout with a 10.5" barrel and a LAW Tactical folding stock. I ended up getting a picket ball sling bag. There are several things I like about this bag over and obove the obvious I can swing it around in front of me so even if I'm not sure I'm going to need it and I can have my hand on the grip, ready to drop the bag ready to go and no one would yet be the wiser. Another aspect I like is that I put a chest plate in the back of the bag and it fits rather well. Last but not least is there is enough room in a front pocket for my tablet, bible, a few other things. I am on my church security team and when I first started bringing the AR to church I asked that for the first month that only the senior pastor and the head of the security team knew I had anything other tablet books a few water bottles, etc.. Not a single member of the church had given the bag more than a passing glance. Even the security team didn’t have a clue. Afterwards the entire team started paying much closer attention to anyone we didn't know with a larger sized bag. Unfortunately those that plan evil can also do the same thing. I didn't know you had this type of content. If you have a suggestion of what videos to prioritize I would appreciate it if you could share that.

@TA Targets I also regardless carry a firearm. I edc a p365xl with a tlr-7sub in a trex arms appendix rig. With that being said I carry a FM-15 Gen2 9” 556/223 pistol with a Midwest industries side folder in a smallish bag. I picked that rifle specifically so that I could carry a higher caliber weapon JUST IN CASE.

Im looking at picking up a honey badger pistol with a "pistol brace." Would it be legal for me to carry with my CCW? I believe my state considers anything with less than a 12 inch barrel a handgun / pistol, I just don't wanna get a BS charge if I ever got caught.

Everyone has a different situation. I believe it’s up to each individual to take their own safety/security measures and do what they think is best for them. There is no ‘one size fits all’. I had a drill sergeant many years ago say the maximum effective range of an excuse is zero meters. We all need to be more proactive and stop making excuses. Thanks Jared

I think “we” make too big a deal about OD Green, FDE etc, because we know they are tactical colors and think we know what to look out for. The average Mom or Dad at Walmart isn’t gonna think, “ oh he has multi cam on, I bet he has a gun on him”. Most people are so wrapped up in themselves and what they are doing, they are hardly paying you any mind

maybe i missed it, but when did you address the arguement that pistols and their cartridges are unmatched in concealment and portability. because thats what keeps me from adopting this or any other form of ridiculous off body carry.

Personal interpretation is that this is not a replacement for a concealed carry hand-gun. An off body weaon is for intermediate-threat areas where deployment speed is not the issue, having a transportable 'heavier' weapon is the goal. Even though the gun is compact enough to bag, leagally it's still a long gun and can't be carried within a passenger space accessible to a driver. Nonetheless, this is a product with appeal. Not sure I'd want a complete gun, but may want the upper if available and compatible with an AR Mil-Spec lower.

My only problem with most people's bag guns is how ballistically ineffective they are at the end of the day. If a rifle projectile travels slower than 2500fps, it will not reliably achieve rifle wounding characteristics on its target. There are rare exceptions to this rule like M855 which is stable to a fault causing ice picking if bone isn't struck, or 45-70 which is essentially just a 12ga slug and has enough mass to occasionally overcome organic elasticity, but the vast majority of the time, you're handicapping yourself with low velocity rounds. I genuinely think that your bag gun should be a perfect pair with your EDC. Essentially just throwing a third point of contact on your handgun to make it easier to make low percentage shots and faster follow up shots. Rifle calibers sit comfortably in three defensive niches. Civil defense, home defense, and WROL get home defense. So two of those guns (a fighting rifle/carbine, and a truck rifle/carbine) should be 14.5 or longer in 5.56, and one of them can be chopped down to 10.3 in 5.56 with a can being practically necessary. Why carry two ammo types and magazines when you can carry one caliber, one mag style, and be capable of putting both of those guns in your bag with medical, your other EDC with room to spare?

The History and Tradition in America over 100 years ago was when a prisoner was being released he would be given a firearm and a small amount of money to give him a start with his new life. They stopped giving out the guns a long time ago but still give money even today. God bless you guys and keep up the good work.

Wow seems like you've got it made in your state brother! In my state you get a permit to carry a pistol only - this excludes rifles and sbrs. My state also has limitations on transporting a rifle, must be unloaded and the ammo (mags) must be stored separately. So for me to legally do this, I would need to keep my mags in a separate pocket and cram a mag in when it's go time. This pretty much forces me to go the braced pistol route so I can keep it ready to go. Here's to hoping the brace cases go our way 🤞

You are definitely correct that a MK18 SBR is one of the most effective CQB forearms. You can use a pistol version with a folding stock adapter and a brace as long as they stay legal. Or you could build a Brownell's AR-180 pistol use a Sig MCX-Rattler LR. Or just use the AR-15 pistol with a sling setup like the SAS did with MP5. Many times the SAS used MP5s with slings and no stocks. As Clint Smith founder of Thunder Ranch said you use your pistol to fight to get to your rifle. The big downsides of an SBR are they more expensive with the NFA TAX. And SBRs are illegal in many statea. That's why I hope the pistol brace ban is finally ruled Unconstitutional by SCOTUS. Cheers

A Keltec Sub2000 is lightweight and compact when you fold it. And it still has the advantages of a 16 inch barrel. It's easier to shoot accurately as you have three points of contact with a true carbine. Plus you can get different models that are compatible with Berettas, Glocks and others. You can put 20 an 30 round magazines in your bag. While many that don't own them look down on the SUB2000. But they are reliable and give you a good value for the money. Aftermarket Upgrades are available. So in a scenario I could use my Beretta 92FS Compact and get to cover. Then rapidly deploy my SUB2000 that uses the same platform magazines. The Sub2000 also makes an ideal backpack gun for hiking.

The thing people need to understand about bag rifles, is that they are not substitutes for concealed carry pistols. What they are, is a more powerful weapon that can be used in a situation where a handgun may not be enough. Maybe you are out at the mall with your family and someone starts shootings up the place. Maybe you are at work one day and shtf and now you have to get back home on foot. The bag rifle isn’t a fix everything tool, its just another tool in the toolbox.

The final conversation reminds me of the story of the Dalton gang. It was a major turning point in the Western US because it was when the people said enough is enough. They said that we have the ability to self regulate and in order to continue our growth we will need to. By self regulate I mean establish a general moral structure and be willing as individuals to protect that structure. (Hmm awfly similar to another major historical event that happened just over 100 years Prior) That means the individual being willing to take their own safety into their own hands and showing bad guys that they wouldn't back down. Not be vengeful about it but not stand by and get taken advantage of

Something to note: Stretchable backpack covers can be used to conceal a rifle that is slightly too big for your gun. It's not an EDC solution, but it could be a GTFO solution.

One thing I would really like to see more detail on is weight considerations. I've asked this in other videos (not sure if answered or not) but the biggest issue I've ran into carrying a bag gun frequently for over a year. Now I wasn't sure how much I was going to get into this so when I built the firearm I put most of the money into the lower. I did get the Law Tactical folder for it the upper however is just a PSA 8.5 which I eventually plan to upgrade but overall the bag is just a little on the heavy side. I've gotten the weight down a lot since I originally started but it's still a little on the heavy side. If you ever do another bag video I'd love to see a small segment talking about weight I think it's an extremely overlooked aspect of this all.
