I enjoyed some of the teachings but not necessarily the presentation. Asking people to fail so you can teach them your method is an odd approach. Why the sunglasses? To me it separates you from everyone else. It's the part of the ego that you seem to be working to disarm in the video.

What I like about these exercises is that Julien doesn’t let the people he calls on hide. He gives them a lot of time to practice what he’s teaching. Normally I see coaches only allow the participants one or two chances to practice the technique, but Julien really makes them practice it there and in the moment until they actually get something out of it. He doesn’t let them just give up. Such a cool way of teaching.

Great methods for building confidence... A year ago I would go to places like a supermarket or other public places, I would park the car... Then sit in it for ages, sometimes not even getting out and driving off because it got to much! But... Now I decided to join a gym and just do it..getting out of the comfort zone. The voice in the mind chats away sometimes, I choose to smile and keep doing what I am doing. There's always work on the Self that needs to be done.

That was great ... It's so obvious, in your face, an elephant in the room is "Why?" ... Why you are anxious, afraid etc. And when you ask yourself you see many times it has no basis in reality, you just imagine 101 situation going bad ... Just let go and jump, who cares ... Free from outcome. Have a plan of course, but then forget about it and just "enter the situation" your unconcious mind will guide you with a speed of light, with no breaks, 100% RAM power in your disposal, and you can't do anything wrong if you're "you" not some fake persona trying to maneuver through life with tools then don't fit the situation at hand. And you're not congruent. As Julien says often: "Thoughts, words, actions alined."

As useful as Julien's approach is to building confidence I find the most morbid mindset to be the most freeing. Reflecting on death or witnessing it causes paradigm shifts where ego nonsense simply dissolves. In Western societies the young are detached from the reality of their mortality and that of their elders as their parents and grandparents get wisked away in senior homes or nursing home facilities. With their experiential wisdom wasted within these stagnant institutions. Instead of reflecting on the totality of their life and it's inevitable end making, the absolute most of their present experiences and opportunities as a result the youth, particularly young men, squander their time and energy looking for validation from worthless sources while being anxious over the empty impressions they leave on people who are more or less irrelevant to them in the scope of their life's journey. Such a waste.

I like the idea of intentionally making a person whose ego fears humiliation do something humiliating in a very innocuous, yet very *real* way. This lesson reminds me of a practice in stoic philosophy called “negative visualization” where a person will attempt to vividly imagine their deepest fears occurring to them in order to build an attitude of indifference/courage to the “horrors” of life.

It works only if a person engages in that humiliating situation as long as that situation is not humiliating, awkward, embarrassing, etc anymore... Otherwise, it could really make it worse for that person. Lets say you need to do some presentation in front of group of people. Anxiety is high, you can feel the pressure in the air, your hands are swetting, your mouth are drier than desert. Now you start presenting, and it goes bad, like really bad... Your voice is cracking, you are forgetting what youre talking about, you are making a huge, uncomfortable pauses, etc. Now, let's say you end that presentation while you experiencing those things, I swear your fear of "public appearence" (call it however you want) would be much bigger than it was before that humiliation.

I remember back in highschool those years ago, all boys football styled school, had a camp. Came back, might have been 14 at the time. Had 100 or so guys all stand in a tunnel almost, to the left of you, to the right. In a long ass hall. They had to yell out whatever they wanted, they could swear, bully; whatever they wanted; as mean as they could, as loud as they could; and you had to slowly walk confidently and not react, the entire length of a basketball hall, bit longer. Can’t laugh, say anything. Just take it. Some people cried, some laughed, but this helped me with fear of being triggered / afraid of judgement for most of my life. Edit: I still use CBT (cognitive behavioural therapy) and DBT (dialectical) to help. But absolutely was phenomenal. Best end to that camp those years ago..

This is crazy awesome. It's really amazing how when you are forcing yourself to stay in that bubble of comfort to try and appear "cool" you end up looking 10x less cool and most likely 10x more awkward. But on the contrary, if you break out of that realm of comfort and then forced yourself to do something that's strange and unusual like singing wheels on the bus, you end up appearing more confident and even outgoing as a person. When you're not conformed to a comfort bubble, you look more confident, and then you naturally look way cooler. You are a dope dude Julien, this is the first video I've watched by you and it's only the beginning. All you condensed into this talk is things I constantly tell my friends but the clearness of speech you have is unmatchable. Lot of men need this. Learning to accept the self, seeing we are all imperfect people, therefore no opinion has more power than we do and reaching true confidence out of inner peace, not just to mask up insecurity.

the screaming activity isn't my cup of tea. but the guy in the beginning talks about being noticed to which I expected Julien to respond with, "ugh, why do you need to be noticed" -- the penetrating questions i've seen him use on other people. I like the parts on loving yourself and being your own party and emotional masturbation. you gotta love yourself cause you're with yourself all the time. the "it's ok" app is really a great idea. I've applied it before Julien but now I use it a lot more. When I get anxious or frustrated or many other things that normally upset me throughout the day i'm like "it's ok". and it does help to allevaite some of the tension and anxiety and stress.

I met this girl at a yoga place and I teased her and she teased me back and I could tell that there we a definite vibe there. But I only met her briefly. Yesterday, something big happened to me at work and it wasn’t good. Just a big unfortunate circumstance. So I was feeling like shit. And of course…I ran into her again. Except this time I was feeling like shit. She wanted to talk to me but I feel like I came off as a little weird because I wasn’t in the mood. Like I was so upset from the day’s events that i couldn’t be bothered to flirt or tease. I just wasn’t in my element. And I didn’t tease her at all. It sucks because now I feel like the flirting dynamic is over.

Just show how you're feeling. If you showed you were frustrated and on a low mod, they would vibe with you way more than trying to not let this "bad vida" came out.

@@nickp3949 yah like Isness said, sure u want to be in a good state as often as possible, but if u have a bad day, be authentic about this. its way better if youre authentic,than resisting or trying hard to manipulate ur state or trying to make jokes with her if ure not in the mood.
@nickp3949
@nickp3949 2 года назад
@@ericfaahcs1080 I know what you mean, but when I’m feeling off, it affects every aspect of my personality. I speak with less confidence, I’m not as good with eye contact, my social skills go down. So it’s not just “feeling down”, it actually makes me awkward. And someone that doesn’t know me well might just think I’m socially awkward. And when you have to explain that you’re being awkward because you’re having an off day…you’ve already turned her off. Just by the way you’re talking

the thing is.. you can't turn everyone into an extrovert. Some people are naturally introverts and very shy. These "social coaches" make this a trend - to teach people how to be more social and outgoing. Many of these people, even after doing all these exercises will feel like they have to overcome something within, every time they try to act how they were taught in these lessons. From this point, it would make people believe that being an introvert is bad. So in the long run it could confuse more people than help because the more popular these videos get, the more people think that being shy or introverted is bad so they will try to go against their nature, go through all that suffering and changing of who they truly are just to be a different person for couple of days and then go back to their roots and think that they are failure for not being able to change from who they truly are.

its normal you have anxiety and fear when u dont know what the presentation and questions are. The presentator is more prepared and is taughts are flying faster in his head wich makes him more comfortable to communicate them with fluidity, + he loves what hes doing so , it a confidence boost and gives. It's crazy to see how there are really only so many patterns of limiting beliefs, and the fact that you're able to use a large, but still quantifiable amount of tools combined with the one bedrock of letting go, to get everyone to achieve the outcome they're looking for. Potent, the closest thing to magic I've ever seen. The way of The Horde! LOL 🔥⚡⚡👹⚡⚡🔥

Powerful video, thanks! What would you think about reminding yourself of the fact, that (for everyone): absolutely nobody in this world cares about you, at all. It´s not that all people are bad, it´s simply human nature. May sound terrifying, depressing and surreal at first, but once you understand it there is a huge relief and freedom opening up from it. Everyone is living in his own world: if people are super kind, or very rude/disrespectful to me its not because I´m such a great person or I´m such a failure, but because everyone subconsciously sees an advantage for HIMSELF by applying the according behaviour to me, but we´re too scared to admit that to ourselves. Very few people have realised that they are utterly, beautifully alone in this world, they started loving themselves and spreading that love to the people and the world around them.

I have had social anxiety for a long time. It's rubbed off on my kids, so I need to learn how to overcome it. Yesterday, my son didn't want to go into a tennis court, at a park, even though that's what we came there to do. He said "oh no, there is people in there". There were two courts one for basketball one for tennis. I didn't realize that they were in the tennis court, playing basketball bc there are hoops in there too. I walked over there and told my son they are just people. I was planning on just play in the basketball court. As soon as we got there this nice young guy said "Oh you guys want to play tennis"? I said "yeah but we're not professionals or anything" holding up the squishy ball, we were using. He said "go on in, we'll play out in the other court". Sounds silly but it was awesome for my nine year old! I said "see, most people are nice". I made mistakes and laughed at myself. I encouraged him to do the same, while people sat behind us watching. Mind you, my son is so anxious in social situations he literally cried and shook when I put him into karate class in front of the two parents in the audience and instructors. I plan to keep pushing myself in front of the kids to be more and more confident. Thanks for the vids.

Work on yourself for sure. That is weak. Esp when you said we are not professionals or anything. Dismissing yourself. Gradually build a spine. Do this by building the basics like strength and money and maybe even faking itm expose yourself to lotsa people

Facts he was absolutely right,That's what my teacher ms jay say that if you say you don't know then your making excuses or your not nearly trying enough to be remove the fear of judgment or criticism when it comes to being scared or not finding your strengths if their stifled or anxious to speak their mind.She said if you'll here for a reason you can't say I don't know or I'm not sure you gotta figure it out put on your thinking caps if you value your own well being when yout facing failures or might fail by mistake.Like for me I've inspired some others to do the same thing as they've inspired me to try again.For example I do a custodian job for 5 hours I've struggled a lot because a old ex super visor named ms pat was cruel to me made me feel like a chump ....where I almost wanted to give up till I stood up for myself and reported her crazy ass for the abuse at my job for calling me slow and calling me deaf! ,so I was moved to a different floor with nicer caring people they confined in me to do a awesome job they respect me but they are very appreciative of me when I do my best my super visor is named chyrell she's sweet she's caring empowering most certainly strong minded... they rebuild me into a strong super soldier,it wasn't easy especially with autism. But I was able to prove to others and myself that I never a punk I could take on anything anyone throws at me at anytime.I succeeded a lot of times I've been bratty every now and then...but thankfully I was given second chances to try again...I've been doing no thanks that other crazy old bitch!.I've been bitched my entire life everyone thought I was stupid even inexperienced with a learning disability now I'm grinding and looking em say how y'all like me now!? Biotches!!....I would have told others don't give up fight back like I did... other fools would probably look at me and say I think your a faggot or retarded... then OK well I guess what?..I think your all assholes and cock suck as who like to talk shit for no reason that's what I think.

Mh, usually that tenseness kicks in when one is among a group of people being better than you at a certain activity/skill and you are there to learn and improve. Persona shifting. That's a skill to master to stay relaxed among a group of masters in their craft trying to learn and making mistakes.

I have somewhat supportive parents, but I sought help from people who I thought were good, but were terrible. At terrible times in life everyone has failed me. I've worked for 6 different businesses that bounced my paycheck. (2 different states, 4 different industries). I care about my sales, but I'm completely checked out on dealing with terrible people. Bad things happen to good people. Good things happen to bad people. If you are offered a raise ask for more. At the end of the day, you are always a replaceable cog in the machine.

There was one thing I noticed about myself when I was around 12 years old, which is that if I was around new people I didn't know, I had to do something weird like yell or do a weird voice or something (I'm actually not really sure anymore what I did) but after that I felt all my anxiety go away around those new people. I had to keep doing this when I was with new people again, but it worked. I remember once I showed how weird I could be, it completely broke the ice and I felt like I could be myself with those people. As I'm older now I forgot about this and this video reminded me of it. Perhaps I should try doing that trick again.

If you can say I don’t know in front of a crowd then you’re better off, you’ve proven you can learn something. If you immediately have a response, everyone that conducts well in front of large crowds takes pauses before their answer; then you don’t actually know but can’t except you don’t without being told so
