even as someone who didnt like conor, this is the greatest walkout in ufc history. the song, the location, sinead, and the importance of the fight just lift it above the rest. jon jones “im coming home” is a close second for me
@@noicemate9111the production van told him to break the dead air and he stopped himself realizing what this moment was before he eventually said what he was gonna say
@@youdefmad6918 idc bruh he shouldn’t say anything. If it was another guy worried about his job then I get it but joe was never gonna be fired or get in trouble and why tf would he be listening to a team member lower than him
I was there live and no one even knew Sinead O’Connor was going to perform. Everyone went nuts. It was the best night ever. Rest in peace Sinead O’Connor.🙏
@@GPsgurl80 yeah both my parents were born in Ireland and I have been there a few times. I was born in America. Still, though I love Irish music. When she started singing that night, it was just simply amazing. Never in my life did I think I would see her perform live. No one in the crowd knew she was there. It was a shock to everyone. such a fascinating night it really was. She was definitely a different person. I guess I can say it like that. Lol but damn such a beautiful, beautiful voice.
I can only imagine what went through Conor's mind when he turned around and saw Sinead singing to him with her hand up. This song touches anyone with Irish ancestry!
When he turns to acknowledge her you can tell he’s briefly humbled. This was the 4 minutes that made Conor McGregor the most popular and rich MMA fighter to ever live, moreso than anything he did in the cage, and he did some great things in the cage in his prime.
@@jaredbellow What he did and the way he did it I just don’t ever see that happening again. He truly was and still is amazing. If he could ever get that hunger back he is still young enough to make a run but when he’s sleeping on a $1 million bed it will be hard lol
@@madtitanmma4273 I know right? Wasn't even close to his entrance at 229. The fog in the octagon and stuff, the return, the spectacle. That was straight up once in a generation entrance.
@@dyyylllaannn I wouldn't doubt that joe was cut off by producers in his headset telling both of them to shut up both of them should have stayed quiet I just never liked Goldberg's cheesy commentary
@@dyyylllaannn Goldberg just spout off nonsense and corny catchphrases. I’d much rather listen to DC or Felder. Cruz or Hardy. Guys that can actually break down fights and have knowledge of the sport. Goldberg hasn’t evolved with the sport. His commentary style has no place in legitimate promotions or leagues.
There was no chance of Conor losing this fight with that walkout and proud countrymen behind him. Even if you're not Irish it will give you some kind of patriotic feeling. Best walkout to this day!
@@abdulrahmanabdulwahab1389 he sacrificed his prime years to invest in his businesses. Him and his children and their children are all set for life now. Good for him, not that good for fight fans. Could've seen a lot of good fights.
Oh man, this was when it was easy to get behind him. I've been irrationally behind anything from my country all my Life, no matter what. Not this guy. Not now. Such a shame. He could have been such a standard bearer. Instead he punches old men in pubs and that's the best you can say about him
This is how I will remember Conor McGregor, with hungry of war and craziness in his face. He reached everything he wanted, it's impossible have the same ambition.
Going through an emotional time. This entrance brings tears to my eyes. Just keep pushing no matter how hard are challenging. This is inspirational for me.
Michael Morgan Lol well if he is in his prime it sure sucks to say prime Connor wasn’t even a UFC champ. Lol goodluck trying to beat khabib or volkav 😂
That whole event looked like a movie scene. Even that shot which knocked out Chad in the second round, can't be more perfect than that. Clean left shot straight to the chain, even movies cant make a shot that perfect. UFC 189 I believe was Conor's best prefromance. He got pounded by Chad the whole first round, but came back and finished him clean, he shocked the world that night. He will be back for sure.
Conor literally looked possessed this fight. Don't know whether he had a bad weight cut due to the acl tear. But just look at his face..looked psycho. Want this conor back😡⚔️
Rewatching this after the Poirier rematch man I hope Connor bounces back he is one of the greatest and I was happy and sad to see him stopped but hope he comes back stronger
His defeat to Dustin is unexplainable, he said he is in his best shape possible and ready as ever, I think Dustin deserves a lot of credit which he usually doesn’t get, he is just that good
@@amrdjoker4751 without a doubt that’s why I was happy for Dustin that man deserves everything he’s earned but I just felt sad seeing McGregor Ko’d like that
The magnitude of the moment was everything. It wasn’t just the live intro, it was the culmination of Conor’s rise to greatness. He truly had an entire country on his shoulders and he carried them to the top of the mountain. It felt bigger than just a UFC title.
RIP Sinèad! Thank you for your beautiful purpose on this Earth and the difference you made in so many lives! Shout out to such an ICONIC moment in UFC history! This was legendary on so many levels! Rest easy! 🙏🏽❤️
Him turning to her is so iconic…. I get chills everytime watching this what a moment. I feel like I understand their pride it’s amazing. God bless her soul. Ireland we love you from Texas 🫶🏾
McGregor has something that is rarely seen in the last 100 years. Maybe 3 people with this much success in all aspects. If this doesn’t give you chills, there’s something wrong with you. Joe Rogan said it well.
New Zealander here, you get nothing but emotions watching this, knowing the outcome of the fight, the national pride on display, being sung out to war by your countrymen. RIP Sinead. Legendary this the kind of stuff you dream about.
Legendary entrance.. probably most powerful ever. I'm not anything close to being Irish, not even a Connor fan frankly, but get goosebumps every time I see this. RIP to the great Sinead O'Connor.
@@T1-aT1-aT1-aT1-aT1-a I’ve been watching since UFC 3. Khabib owes everything to Conor. I’ll bet you are younger than me. I’m 50. 🥲 I doubt I will ever see another person/fighter like McGregor ! He is his worst enemy. If that fight would have happened before the Mayweather fight I think you would have seen a much different outcome !
He should walk out with the original version without hypnotize. It goes with his new hungry style. He fights to fight not for money as he prooved against donald.
From this unprecedented live performance, to the massively devoted crown, to the commentarys timing and explanation of the weight of the moment and how much this event mattered.... I don't think anything beats this. Truly one of, if not the best moments in modern ufc history. Has such a unique aura about it that I haven't seen duplicated since.
Still as of today for me the best walk out in MMA history. Both my parents were born in Ireland. The history of that song is absolutely amazing. The Irish people went through horrible horrible times. You don’t read too much about it in the history books here in America though.
Conor was the greatest featherweight of all time and was never stopped by anyone or anything in the division... He will forever be one of the greatest to ever do it!
Sinéad O’Connor’s cover of the song “Foggy Dew” made me want to be Irish and fight the British Empire. May God hold her in the palm of his Hand, RIP🇮🇪❤️
I am so freaking glad I saved up money for five months so I could afford to go to that fight live. Best money ever spent. Watching it on TV is amazing but being there live and experiencing that. I don’t think it will ever happen again. I watched four of my children be born to 😂 When he turned around and pointed up to Sinead and showing respect that every time almost makes me tear up
I went and saw UFC 202 live and it was incredible but I can’t imagine how it was to go to this you are so fortunate to have experienced it. I really wish the UFC would do more events with this sort of thing you feel the emotion.
@@chloekit4861 Yes I was and I didn’t even know Sinead O’Connor was going to be singing their live. It was insane! So many peoples jaws dropped when they saw her.
Something that's incredible to me is my father who passed away in 2016 saw the crisp boxing of Conor in UFC and became a fan. He knew that Conor was special.
Gives me fucking chills.. the mix of sineads voice and the pride of Ireland and mcgregor. God damn. So insane. Best walk out and moment ever in the ufc
UFC fan since 1995 but I never saw this particular fight or walk out. Just found out this existed as well as the original song a few months ago. Hits me to the core. I can feel it run though my DNA from my Celtic ancestors. Absolutely incredible, RIP Sinead O'Connor
@@jonfishman8582 189? That so. I saw it. I didn't think it was. And I see UFC fan but I'm saying MMA fan as well. I've been watching Pride since the early 2000s as well. 189 wasn't some epic card
Whst a stroke of genius getting Sinead O’Connor to sing this song. Stirring stuff. This what I liked in Sinead music that raw honest voice. Amazing. And the commentator says it in other words.
I remember when I had to adapt to morning workouts instead of evenings but I always struggled to get out of bed.... This video would ALWAYS get me up!! I listened to it for 3 weeks every morning until it became a habit lol
Still to this day the greatest night in mixed martial arts event history. The whole card capped off with Conor coming back from his most tested moment at the time to win the belt, chills.
This was an epic entrance, i remember watching this live 8 years ago with my uncles on their laptop and it felt like yesterday. Noticing the details again, when sinead gives conor a thumbs up and he turns around and raises his flag. I envied the irish that moment, UFC 189 was truly such a special event. RIP Sinead O'Connor! 🇮🇪🙏
“Very few human beings in this world will ever experience anything remotely similar to what is going through the mind and body of Conor McGregor as he steps into this octagon right now”What a quote… chills everytime
