I am still feeling a tightness in my chest from the stress of squeezing through those narrow roads. The lardo was also quite the adventure. You've certainly displayed your courage in this episode. Thanks for the guided tours through this area of Italy. Everywhere you go has such a rich history, and Snow's soothing voice makes her a perfect narrator. Thanks for taking us along. Stay safe.
Holy cannoli - that was a white knuckler! I thought y’all were going to need a can opener or shoe horn to get the van through those narrow streets! Great job, Snow! 😁
That was pretty fascinating. As a vegetarian for decades even I was impressed by the Lardo and Curt's breakfast! LOL..How you remember all the facts and relay it back to us is astounding Snow. A real educator. Thanks guys!
I have to say my philosophy in watching these videos is if they’re making this video then everything is all right, but I couldn’t help it. I couldn’t stop myself from holding my breath when you were going through those narrow alleys, a.k.a. streets, I kept telling myself they’re all all right they didn’t get stuck, but I still found myself holding my breath. I love your videos!
Oh my goodness, my hands were sweating on those tight roads! I was so scared for you, Snow. Fantastic driving! Those marble mountains look beautiful. Thanks for bringing us along!
You are my shero, Snow! Nice piece of driving. You are both so skilled, courageous and such a good team. Italy is going to be an adventure for sure! ✌️❤️🚐
Oooh, can't wait to see you climbing those steep roads in Florence - we kept muttering "thighs of steel, thighs of steel" to keep moving, LOL. We loved that town, the food was awesome, and the architecture out of this world. I was amazed that the main cathedral is only 1/3 "done" because The Plague wiped out all the workers back in the 1300's. Gorgeous.
My daughter and a friend climbed the Duomo. Unfortunately I couldn't but they had the most incredible view. If you want to see the statue of David check out the Accademia art museum. The Uffizi too. Makes me want to go back to Italy.
Good morning my dear friends Snow and Curt. Carrera marble is so beautiful and it’s great seeing it first hand through your travels. While in Italy I had lardo on a toasted “sourdough” type of bread at a friends home. It was delicious. So glad that Curt saved the left overs for his breakfast. Snow you were “the bomb” driving through those narrow roads. Well done and a mini melt down was probably good for you after that! Have a safe journey.
Oh my lord, you had me gritting my teeth going through those narrow roads, I can’t only imagine how you felt 😮😮😮 The marble mountains were fantastic 😮😊❤, I couldn’t believe the milky creek coming down from the mountains, guess I have never known that such a mountain existed Thanks for sharing, be safe Susie in Michigan
I don't blame you for melting down, Snow. I would have stopped in the middle of the road and let my hubbie take over. lol. But you did it! Way to go. I eat low carb, so the lardo would be great for me....but the polenta and the potatoes would be a no-no...I would cheat though, because they looked wonderful. Thanks, as always, for taking us along. By the way, you folks sure seem to bring the best out of people and that special tour at the restaurant is another example of that.
Puuuh; that was a close shave😂 Lovely episode, nice seeing the Carrara open mine and the lardo in the making! The pig cheeks are going to be Guanciale, mostly lard with a little streak of pork; very flavourful and traditionally used for Carbonara 😋😋😋 And yes; the south European cars have foldable side mirrors 😅🙌🏼🙋♀️
Interesting info about the marble quarries. It was great to get a glimpse of where Michelangelo got his beautiful marble from. Also the info on “lardo”!!!! Lol 😊
What a fascinating place to visit! Marble mountains! So beautiful. I will never forget Lardo… food and place. Thank you so very much for beginning my Saturday in such an exciting way. Snow! I’m so impressed you took a full bite of lardo! I would have taken a quarter as much not knowing its taste and flavor. Bravo!! And that ultra skinny road! Would have taxed my heart too. You did a marvelous job. Can’t wait for the train ride to Florence! Have beautiful rests!
I've been to Italy 3 times on tours, but my next adventure there will be to rent a car and tour the small towns and coastal areas that the tours don't cover.
After traveling for over 20 years in Europe with our van, and getting in MANY a tight pinch on the roads, we got a navigation system made especially for RVs of all types!!! Put in your length, height and how much you weigh, and even though they are not 100% all the time, they help eminence!!
I know how you feel. Eating food and not knowing the language is so adventurous. I lived in Japan and my first year was such a food adventure. Not knowing what the food was and trying to figure it out. I look back and remember what I liked missing some of it and I found out later some things I ate and was very surprised to say the least. Have fun and enjoy.
Lardo is delicious. We went on our honeymoon to Florence, Rome, Milan and the Aosta Valley. Lardo was a part of the Aosta cuisine and we loved it with local meats and cheese. The Fontina cheese was amazing.
The marable was beautiful. That tour and you eating it was great. It sounds like it would be good to have a supply. Those roads are the type that are all over Europe. Be blessed. See you Wednesday.
I used to work at a kitchen and bath store. We were always trying to talk people out of ordering Marble for their showers. It doesn't hold up to water well, it get's rust stains. They are buying for the look, so we would steer them to a Porcilin Tile that looked like marble and came in larger sizes to give them the look.
Over the last 20 years, I have spent most of that time living abroad. Americans who have NEVER left the United States have no idea what the rest of the world is like. The USA doesn't even rank in the top 10 places to live, The USA doesn't rank in the top 10 safest countries. The USA doesn't rank in the top 10 healthiest countries. MOST citizens around the globe would choose to live anywhere BUT the USA. This world has a lot of nice places to live in. Life goes quickly. Enjoy while you can.
Wow! That was scarey!! I would have had a heart attack! We have narrow country roads in Wales, but mostly with hedges and banks and maybe a wall one side. I'm glad you didn't have to reverse back anywhere!
Wow! That marble is something else. I hope they do restrict the amount of marble mined. It will make the cost higher but people especially in that town need to leave a legacy for their own families. Snow, what a workout! First, walking up hill then driving those roads. And Curt, I would have been more inclined to try lardo your way. I know lard was used by Americans to survive through tough times. Thanks for the video.
Good morning Snow and Curt (I'm channeling Curt's voice with that opening) ☀️ OMG Snow, kudos to you and your fantastic driving skills, that was one heck of a road. I was so worried a child was going to run out of one of those doors into your path. So freaking scary. Curt, you were so supportive. I love how you both handle stressful situations, with calm voices with only a few curses thrown 😱 You didn't need to tell on yourself about the mini meltdown, we won't have guessed 😉 The relief when you finally turned onto that paved road was felt. What a fabulous little town, so cool! Curt, not sure what I loved most, you interrupting Snow with your piggy noises or your rendition of Queen, my fav group of all time. I'm so jealous of both your tasting menu of Larderia (sp?) as well as Curt's breakfast the next day, it all looked delicious 😋 It's too bad you didn't get a chance to tour the mines, however we really appreciate all the fantastic info on the mines. I actually have a small bit of marble from that mine in our bathroom so this was super cool for me. Safe travels and we'll see you in Florence on Wednesday, 🤗🇨🇦
Interesting food and beautiful marble!! What stressful driving. My heart sank for you snow. I know you had already made it but gosh what stressful driving!!’god bless!!safe travels.
Oh those narrow, very narrow roads!!! You did great Snow! Loved the breakfast Kurt! Thanks for yet another great video! Waiting for you guys in Portugal!❤
I'm not sure I'd be brave enough to try lardo. That would be too much fat for me. haha How cool that you got to take that tour. Yeah those marble boxes were impressive. Going down the hill was probably a lot easier than up! :) Those roads were...nail biters. I would have been exhausted and had a meltdown after that adventure too.
Your narrow road adventure had my husband and I stressed! 😳 We did something similar in Sintra Portugal where we actually had to BACK down to escape! At least we were in a rented Volvo and not a van! Great driving Snow! 👏
Wow, was biting my nails through those narrow streets.Totally enjoyed all the info, especially about the marble mines. My grandfather worked in the granite and marble industry in US, including erecting statues. The marble would come from Italy. Fascinating!
Your videos are amazing, I look forward to your next experience. Thank you for sharing your life. These are experiences that I know I would never get to have but through you videos.❤❤❤❤
The narrow road scenario is frequently a problem for people with big campervans in Europe and the UK. In France they have laws banning vehicles over a certain size in small villages.
Hari OM Dang - I need a massage on my shoulders now!!! Seriously though, Madama Google did take The Grey and me down some farm track roads on our big trip south and it was just ridiculous - but always came good in the end. Oh the adventure... Meanwhile, your visit to the place of unusual food and fine stone was marbleous.... (sorry, had to be done!) YAM xx
Snow, while you were driving the narrow roads,it reminded me of Needles Drive in South Dakota, where we actually had to fold our truck mirrors in from time to time. Great video!!!
Snow, wow, that drive! You did great. Love the winding road above Florence, took me back to my walking these little roads and exploring off the typical tourist paths. Can hardly wait for your visit to the gorgeous city.
Another great video! My heart was pounding extra fast while you navigated that narrow road! What fantastic views and so much interesting information about the marble mines. ❤
Ooooooo that skinny road was fun for us. I'm certain you were not as thrilled. Your adventures are some of the BEST!! Thank you so much. I loved the Lardo tour, the marble info, and the people you got to meet. We got to see an exciting piece of World History at the marble mines that is not covered in the usual history books. Who else would take us to the actual beginning of one of the most famous pieces of exquisite sculpture of all time. You two ROCK! Pun intended.
👏👏👏Awesome job Snow with the history of the town but with the driving on the narrow streets. Curt does a great job with the white knuckle driving as well but I know how it really gets to Snow so I just want to acknowledge what a great job you did. See you in the next video. Stay safe you are loved by a lot of people.
You need to add "The Adventures" of Snow & Curt to your channel name, because with videos like this, you definitely take us on an Adventure. Those were some tight streets/alleys and not many of us have ever tasted lardo or visited the same quarries Micheal Angelo did. Loved, loved, loved this video - thank you!!
When I hear: Gooood morning everyoooone🖤🖤🖤🤗🤗🤗 Will you have a q and a soon ? And will you have a meet and great in europa? I wish I could rock a hat like that Snow💜 My sister wear one too 💜 Yea google maps is so scary! I don’t travel. So if I must go out of town I fear I dont have enough gas or electricity on the car I’m driving😮 Sending you anti- anxt hug Snow❤️🩹 I appreciate your honesty and openness about having meltdowns as grown women 💜💜💜💜 it’s okey and we strong regardless 💜💜💜
I feel like it is a blessing that I get to watch, through your eyes, this amazing adventure you are on. The marble quarry is pretty darn epic. Those map mishaps definitely keep you on your toes. Remember the miracles you've experienced when it gets hairy. Or downright furry like these pathways, in appearance. you successfully navigated. Isn't fascinating how in tune the cats are? Safe travels and continued blessings of abundance and wisdom.
Welcome to our world! Agree with ‘if you don’t use it you’ll loose it’, negotiating your multi lane highways as we try to stick to our minimum walk of 2 miles a day in Brunswick GA while our camper departs home to the U.K. Love watching Europe through American eyes.
Man!! That was a tight squeeeeeze ... but I know you two are champs after surviving those Andes ... That Carrera mountain was spectacular!! I bet you could feel the history thru the soles of your feet just walking around there ... Lord Have Mercy!! You guys stay safe over there!😺💜
Pam here….OMG that Lardo sounds so incredible. You will have the famous Hamon in Spain too..that is facinating too. My breakfast potatoes start with rendering chopped bacon, onion, then potatoes…my hubby makes into veggie hash with beets, Brussels sprouts, cauliflower, ect….that he steams a little first then chops into griddle to crisp a little. YUM YUM.
Hi I'm from Florence and know very well the Apuan Alps and Carrare marble and of course the Lardo di Colonnata! So thank you for sharing this important part of our local culture with your followers from all over the world. Thanks so much! ❤️❤️❤️
💕I love marble 😍! What a perfect little place. 'Spoke Too Soon' NARROW ROAD 😱 Are you kidding? That was no better than a walking path😬 Curt: (in a concerned voice)" do you want me to drive?" Snow: dead silence 🤐. But she did it!💥Great job Snow 👍👍 Meltdown justified. (I think this would have happened no matter who was driving- we were all white knuckled. On to the next! Much Luv, Kim💞💕
Wow! I hope you all get a nice breather after that tedious drive. We have to drive around a lot for our business and yes our GPS takes us down some crazy goat trails from time to time. You did a great job, guys! Much better than I would have for sure. Seeing the marble is fascinating! Thank you for the education. I tell my husband I learn more from watching Snow and Curt! Safe travels guys! Thank you. Pam. ❤☮
I quickly realized that like many other people, watching the video, as you were going, through that very narrow streets, I was holding my breath the entire time. I’ll give you both credit for tackling that, because that would have been more difficult than I would’ve wanted to drive. Looking forward to your next adventure
Snow mine wouldn't have been a mini melt down that looked intense congrats on the great driving. The village looked awesome and Curt's breakfast looked great
