I still have my PS1 with that screen and I used to play in the car all the time. And whenever my mom would go to Walmart I would ask if she can leave the car running so it doesn't shut off my game

This reminds me of a kid at my school that put a Wii U inside of his backpack and would play Mario Kart at lunch with the gamepad. He even brought some extra wiimotes for his friends to play. What a legend.

i’m glad scott mentioned the portablizing scene of transforming wiis and n64s into a 3d printed chasis with custom circuit boards. really shows the dedication of people to transform a home console into a zero compromise, feature packed handheld system.

The Playstation 1 had a thin battery pack that the PS1 sat on. It lasted about 6 hours from full charge. I use to play my PS1 on the bus on the way to school and outside at lunch. I was the coolest uncool kid at school!

I remember being on a bus trip with my brother and the bus had plug ports all over the place, so I hooked up my Wii U and played Breath of the Wild via gamepad throughout the entire trip. Good times.

I love how the beginning is by far the most replayed part of, by like 2 times as much as everything else.

One of my favorite videos. Scott yelled at every part of his house, moved his desk outdoors, went into the shower with clothes and a Gameboy, crawled back inside through a window more than three times and probably waited days just to record a three seconds of him getting rain. All of this in 10 MINUTES.

Sometimes I wonder if Scott has multiple copies of his desk with everything on it to avoid moving it and replacing it every time he does something with it.

Ooh, the Supa Boy! I have one and yes, if you want games to not randomly go funky then 1. you have to keep the cart slot clean, 2. insert the game well, and 3. engage the lock that tightly holds the game in place.

The sega nomad was fantastic! It worked, had decent enough battery life, could be played anywhere in the house, car worked without WiFi (of course that was normal back in the day). I loved it. My only complaint was the buttons could be hard to reach with some games, but for a console it was good.

The cultural significance of Scott's frustration with the house yet never mentioning the virius by name was not missed by me. A cultural period piece that doesn't date itself. Phenomenal.

From what I understand the ps4 & xbone carrying cases were mainly used for esports tournaments and practice. i saw them a lot when i went to a fighting game tournament.

When I was a kid, we had a ps2 controller with a screen on it. During one of our road trips, it started fucking smoking and my dad just threw it out the car.

That PSOne with the screen was amazing. I never played it "portable", but being able to play Playstation anywhere I could hook up an AC adapter was great. The last time I played it was around 2017 when I played FF8, and then I sold it in 2019.

This makes me appreciate the switch, which I don't have. But at least the option is available. I also think the mini consoles (NES and SNES classic and Sega genesis mini) are some great traveling/on the go options. Love them.

I think you're REALLY underestimating how hard dedicated video game time on the TV was to come by in the 90's and early 2000's. I didnt need it to go outside. I just needed to be able to play when my parents or siblings were in the living room or watching TV. TVs weren't everywhere in every room back then. And TV was monitored and shared. (In most families, not speaking for everyone.) I MUCH preferred consoles that were "portable" or handheld. When I played the actual consoles on TV I had to take turns with my 2 brothers and 1 sister... and fuck that. It still reflects in my gaming, I still prefer my 3DS and my Switch Lite (outside of PC). I'm 34 now. I was 13 in 2000 and a high school freshman in 2001. Just to put this in perspective for the whipper snappers.

This video is already funny and interesting, but watching the bloopers for it then watching it again with that in mind makes you appreciate it so much more 🤣

I would like to say, that whole WiiU trick works, I popped it into my bag and brought it to school so I could play it’s games between finals one time, it’s a pretty solid method. Just don’t try doing parkour.
