I've been thinking about a NAS setup, so I found this video very interesting. Great review, you provided most of the information I was looking. But everything does come down pricing, so I will do a little research in that regard. Thanks for sharing.

I've seen the UGreen brand a bit more lately, glad to see a review and a run thru. I've been using a 4 bay Synology which allows enough redundancy to allow 2 drive failures (power surge/lighting strike are the most likely reasons 2 drives would fail). The 2 bay is a good start for anyone though and IMO is near mandatory period, but even more important if you have any concerns about cloud storage visibility by others. This UI is similar to the Synology brand, many features are quite similar. For those worried about drive life, if you're buying NAS rated drives, they take into account a duty cycle bot typically seen by conventional laptop/desktop computer use. Many NAS drives are good for 5 years with no downtime...mine have been going strong for at least that long, and if they fail you can even hot swap the drive. Great review, glad to see a Synology competitor, they both seem to be top quality!

I tried synology about 3 years ago and it was painfully slow.. this just feels like I’m using a second computer for storage

Raid 1 Mirroring is for data redundancy so all data written on the primary drive gets copied, aka "Mirrored", to the secondary drive. Raid 0 Striping splits data across multiple disks allowing for increased speed and capacity. However, in Raid 0, if one drive fails...your data is gone. Awesome video as always Ken. Ive been looking for a large storage device so this is on my radar now thanks to you

Hey Ken, love the video! Question for you. Do you think this is something that would be good to grow into or is it overkill ? I use to shoot a lot of real estate but now have been moving to sports videography. I want to make videography my full time gig and am working toward that. That being said I only use about 50-60% of my current 1 TB SSD. Do you think this is overkill for me or is it something that would be good to grow into? Never looked at a NAS system but this seems so convenient that it makes sense.

When the eclipse happens here in Houston we will be 90% effected. I thought I would take my DJI Mavic 2 Zoom and go up about 250-300' and park it there videoing the skyline of downtown Houston. Other people may have ideas on doing something like this.

Hey Ken, do you film horizontal videos in 120 or 60? I only have a74 and would have to film at 8bit 1080p for 120 fps, but I’m tempted to do it cause my current videos don’t look smooth

2 bay upgradable RAM interesting usually you don’t have a option for 16GB RAM option for two bay nas. I wonder how they stack against Synology?

sonoma has been awful for attached storage. lost 4tb of photos and footage, so stick it in and remove it when done. dont let your mac go to sleep with an external drive in. its a huge issue.

Ken, don't push shitty appliances like this. The NAS space is oversaturated with junk. HDMI ports do not belong anywhere near a storage device. You should own more of your architecture at this point.

I use these to backup my raw files so I can recall on it. I also like the HDMI, if I wanted to take it from a storage to media server I can. Lastly don’t ever come here on my f***ing channel and tell me what I should do.. that a great way to get check and bounced on your ass harder than a bum in New York City.

Thanks for the review. I see it is a kickstarter program, and I could not easily find the anticipated price (after the promo periods). Any idea what the price is expected to be? Also, I was confused as to whether you can use NMVe and SATA at the same time or only one of these options? Also, I have a couple of suggestions (please take them as my attempt at being constructive). I wish when people are doing reviews they would state the price soon after starting the review. This would let viewers know whether it is in their price range, before spending the time to watch the entire video. The 2nd suggestion is to use a lower screen resolution when doing screen captures so that the Gond and menus sizes are larger and easier to read when watching the review on smaller devices. Thanks again!

UGREEN is a charging company, they don't know storage, and you are a beta tester. Despicable. When the youtube money dries out, you'll understand.
