I agree. I use controller for the most part, however i use sticks for certain games like the early vs games, because i used to own arcade cabinets which forced me to use stick. Same with analog stick. My brother once broke the decent/mediocre ps4 dpad, so i had to use the analog stick for a while which worked pretty good for certain games like DBFZ. For strive im using ps4 pad

its just muscle memory, no tricks to it.

Well it does feel nice to play with, more than a controller, actually. Oh and they last longer than a DS4/5. But personally I tried switch to one in previous GuiltyGearXRD, but when I got to DBFZ the fact I had been using Controllers for more than 20years at this point started to show up, so I went back to controller.

@@lrdalucardart another thing im on ps5 and like mentioned in the video i hear its tough to sometimes find compatible sticks which also sucks

Not really nowadays, We see Fighting game champions (such as Street fighter) using controller, hit box and arcade stick. It is really up to personal preference and they all have advantages on their own.

This debate which is BETTER is ancient. New generation of pro players proved quite a while ago that pad is as viable as a stick. Luffy won evo using PS1 pad almost a decade ago. As Bachiru said numerous times, game devs. keep pad players in mind when making games now, so no, you don't really have many advantages with stick over pad, it's all personal preference.

If I was to get an arcade style controller I would def go with hitbox

It leads to OTG and mixup afterwards so if i land it from a 2K into 2D that's what i usually go for

Once i get a better keyboard i'll try it for Strive :)

Mine doesn't spin if i understand correctly but most balltops can be tightened if you open your Arcade Stick and using a flat head screwdriver to do so.

@@Bachiru sorry, I mean the stick (rotating/spining in place) wich make the balltop rotate also

@@martincpt204 no worries, I think all spin so you need to adjust your grip to get to used to it accordingly

If one of your friends owns an arcade stick then maybe you can borrow it to see if you'll enjoy using it.

He will also feel weird on arcade stick... for a while. If you are unsure about buying a stick, try using your triggers and shoulder buttons for all your negative edge stuff. If you are seriously considering getting into fighting games, grab an arcade stick. You will find the experience much better on some games. It's all about preference. I got a 50 buck mayflash arcade stick and that's how I currently play zato. Had to relearn him a small bit, but it is a bit better in the end. If you got money to burn, get a stick.

Try to find a layout that works for you and stick with it, unfortunately you have to go through training your muscle memory again but that'll make your execution much more easier in the long run!

I don't think there's one right grip for the arcade stick since it's matter of comfort, but i feel like the wine glass grips works well for most people

@@Bachiru You're absolutely right. Because I've tried the wine grip and I was horrible with it. I think the most comfortable so far is the open palm, with just using the fingers and thumb.

For fighting games I play the PS4 version on the PS5, some officially licensed sticks do work natively on PS5 tho

@@soulreaper453 Pretty sure Brooks will release PS4 to PS5 adapters eventually which should solve this problem, but yeah, the compatibility problem is an ass. I wanted to use Sega Satrun pad yet I can't with PS5 version currently.

Consider investing in a USB converter or changing the board that comes in the Mayflash, my recommendation is to check if the Brook converter can work with your arcade stick first since it's easier and cheaper

If it helps, a Hori Rap4 (or superior) will be a good buy for a 1st stick.

Depends on your budget really but anything that's compatible with PC and has original Sanwa components (lever and buttons) will be greats, also consider ergonomics(how comfortable for your hand/wrist etc.)

What if you just starting playing FGCs a month ago? I’ve been using controllers since I was small for every other game, but I’m interested in getting a fight stick because of how they last compared to controllers Already two of my DualShock controllers are a little inconsistent with the dpad, and I kinda want to get a stick for the sake of durability You think it would be worth it to relearn it now? Or should I just stick with controllers

@@E290M6 In that case just do it, cause one month isn't really that long of a time, if u wanna change do it while u r still "fresh", and u probably did not developed grip quirks on ir controller, nows ur chance to change. You said so urself, u feel the d-pad is inconsistent that means u aren't yet used to it yet. There are many small habbits we FGC players pick up over the years that might make it harder to migrate to a different hardware after using them for so long. And if u get used to something, than u try to make the change, u will always fell temptation to switch back to the previous one cause u fair better with and what not.

@@Bachiru i am kinda builded my fighting keyboard xD layot is: Arrows=moves, A-p, Z-k, S-hs, X-s, C-d, D-rc, F-dash macro....Never seen somebody use it like i am :)

Well its really based on what game you grew up with tbh. Old school pc game use arrows for movement so if you are used to move then yeah.

Planning to get one by the end of this year so i'll try to do a follow up video on this
