T'was the night before Christmas and all through the house not a creature was stirring.... Except deranged little Billy hiding in the attic of a soroity house making obscene phone calls and killing the girls one by one.
The way he'd gone through all of that weird noise making and the coarse language and then he calmly stated 'I'm going to kill you' is really creepy. Such an underrated villain.
And the way he seems to imitate Peter's voice perfectly with his death threat,is why I always used to think it was indeed Peter, who was the bad guy(as did others,I'm sure). Also later on when Billy makes the final call, the longest(and thus they finally get a trace and location on the call), notice Billy copies Peter's voice then, too for a moment.
Good point. She'll be far less attractive when it causes her hair to fall out. The thing is, before she met Superman she already had cancer, once she met him the radiation he put's off cleared her of it. Only problem now though is she has Kryptonian Super Cancer and the only drugs to cure were destroyed along with the planet.
Yeah as good as the Superman film is, the rotating the Earth part was terrible. No, you didn't turn back time, you caused an apocalypse, the tremors, the tsunami's etc that would have caused utter destruction. Are we sure he didn't try this on Krypton, how was Krypton destroyed again, Superman? :D
Typical Barb, getting sarcastic with poor Clare, and thus making it even more difficult for Clara to fit in,just as Jess scolds Barb right after this,as Clare leaves to pack-"Hasn't she had enough trouble fitting in here without you picking on her all the time?"
Without a doubt one of the most creepiest scenes in slasher movie history considering that it shows the girls reaction to the creepy and obscene phone calls from Billy. Add to the fact that the phone calls consist of creepy and weird sound effects and dirty and perverted dialogue makes this scene even more iconic and unforgettable.
Yes, he made the call from the housemother's private line(note as the movie begins, someone invisible to us is lurking outside the sorority house and then climbs up the trellis, aiming himself at an open window--the attic--lets himself in,climbs down the attic ladder into the house and into Mrs. mac's room, where he begins his evil deed, first his death threat call and then the series of murders, each followed by an obscene call.
@@greywalker505 We don't know too much about Billy, we don't even know if he's supernatural so it is possible for him to have done something to conceal the sound.
My favorite horror film of all time, it was the first one to give me genuine creeps and it still does. Thank you Bob Clarke, you brought me two all time classic Christmas films. R.I.P. dude.
Yes,now that you mention it,this movie was ahead of its time, with the escessive use of the f word, much less. And another thing, not that this really is pertinent here-but nevertheless,it does remind me of the fact that at the time, the word which today means "having a love or sexual interest in members of your own gender," was still used in everyday speech to mean happy and cheerful(gay,of,course!) How times certainly have changed for,the worse, over the past approximately 45 years.
I used to make those heavy breathing phone calls, this one time I must have rang this woman with real bad asthma. After about 10mins of heavy breathing back and forth, I had to stop and say Did I ring you or did you ring me?!? >XD
This is one of my favourite heart warming , uplifting, festive, joyous classical holiday movies that puts me in the christmas spirit! PS.....I think the east indian guy from the duct cleaning service call was talking to my wife like this!
If your going by slashers no, but I'd say the German Expressionist, Val Lewton, Universal and Hammer films, Vincent Price films, and early Argento/Fulci films are worth checking out in terms of types of horror movies within a series or the genre. There's plenty of other more specific titles too, but it kind of depends what you look for.
When I saw this scene on mr nightmares top 10 shocking horror movie ending I thought this movie came out I the 2000s 1990s or 80s but when I look it up its old ass 1974 like good job but wtf
I thought that, but I guess it would be cliche to have all the other sounds stop. The contrast between the carols and the moaner's voice is quite effective
The thing with sequels and remakes of slasher films is they always claim they'll remain serious, but just get more and more ridiculous. That or they keep attempting to make it a horror/comedy or rely on gore and sex and forget the tension. When I think old school I think movies like this. They represented something of the Val Lewton style of using that inner fear of what's around the corner and relying on character and tension to make it scary. Horror movies from the 10's-80's were the best.
Actualy when a stranger calls and halloween both ripped off black christmas if u look at it very carefully and black cristmas was the first slasher film.
