@@MemphisMike901 Probably D30 and CE-Level 2 mashup. :-) Our armor is just like D30 (soft, flexible, ventilated, exceeds certification levels etc.) but ours is repeat use, so if you have an off and land on your elbow (for example), you don't have to replace the armor. Good stuff!
My wife and I have been using full Bohn since Cruiserman's review from a few years ago. I am a Texan but living in New Mexico at the moment. Its miserably hot here right now but Bohn summer mesh works well. Fantastic gear! In addition, we do have several Mesh armor jackets and for winter, we use winter weight jackets. After a friend was killed by hitting a cow on a backroad a few years ago riding two-up, and at night and not wearing gear, I became a full gear proponent. His wife WAS wearing gear and survived just fine. On a side note: Thanks for the shout out to us Vet's

Glad to hear you're OK and doing videos again. I normally dress for comfort in the summer. I live in Mississippi on the coast so yea, it gets a little muggy. I ordered the all weather bohn armor shirt today after watching your interview with cruise man. Stay safe out there.

Memphis Mike, the wife and I both wear Bohn Armour in the summer months. It has served us well and we recommend it every chance we get. It’s important to have protective gear on while riding because we don’t get to choose when we go down but we can be prepared for it!! 2WINGS.
I tried mesh jackets, moisture wicking shirts, and cooling vests you soak in water trying to stay cool enough to keep riding with armor. Finally found something that actually keeps you COOL. I bought a CompCooler ice water circulating vest for $279! Rode 3 hours in 90+ degree heat and didn’t break a sweat while wearing my Olympia mesh jacket. Mounted the small ice chest on the Goldwing luggage rack and used Velcro straps included to secure the hoses that connect to the water circulating vest. I can still open the trunk, carry a passenger, do whatever I did before. Wes
You do have to put ice in the small ice chest (I use a small block of ice) and pour a bottle of water in (12 oz); put on the vest and connect the quick connect lines. They make a self contained backpack version too for those without the storage/carrying capabilities of a Goldwing. Wes

Good stuff Mike, Motoramblings and PSP Tommy G sold me on the Bohn shirt's, but I did take the armor out of the sleeves and shoulder's, but I did leave the armor in the back just because it help's my back while leaning on my backrest, great video brother💯

I live in CT, a state that does not require a helmet, I'd say in hot weather 80% of riders I see are in not much but a pair of sunglasses 😶… When I ride on-road I wear gear, a helmet, eye protection, long pants, TCX boots, gloves and an armored jacket or shirt. When I'm off road... its full body protection in any weather....

Holy smokes! Man have we missed you brother. Charlie Victor One Niner will forever be burned in all of our memories. So glad you and your family are slowly moving forward and back to life somewhat as you all have remembered it. And You my man, back to the channel! 100% Cruise influenced my decision to “don the Bohn”. It is my go to under garment apparel. I spent a good chunk of change and glad I did because it’s compression properties are supper supportive and the reinforced armor is next level coverage. Now if we can just get you to wear your gloves with knuckle and heel sliders. 😲 AGATT! Cause we love you brother and each other out here. In cold weather I ride with Klim Latitude jacket/pants and hot weather Klim Marrakesh jacket/pants wear I’ll also wear the Bohn Armor. Held Steve gloves and Daytona Road Star boots. Love the gear. In total it was not cheap. I went all in on the top shelf safety grocery list brother. They didn’t design this gear for rich folk, they designed for smart folk. Ride safe and ride often. I hate to hear that happened to you. You come across as one of the most genuine and caring folks. Sometimes bad stuff happens to good people but it still sucks none the less. I was fortunate enough to be wearing full armor when I totaled my GSA but it was a wake up call none the less. I wear gear every single time I ride. If I’m just riding to lunch, I’ll slack a bit and wear jeans and my armored jacket. I replaced it with some Rukka gear but it’s a Cordura mesh which flows less air than typical mesh jackets. I need to pickup something similar to the gear you reviewed today for July/August riding in North, Ga (days over 90°). I like this company is in NC and will have to check them out! Ride safe brother!

Thanks for the video refreshing to hear about your story. We just finished a 51 day road trip which started with a 4 corners of the USA. I have a Alpine star 5 air vest which I feel very safe when riding. But I had it go off from getting a pat on the back and it blew up. So I got the Bohn armor for the protection and I love it. Just FYI thanks again.
@@MemphisMike901 all season. I sent off for it on the last night of WingDing. Was hoping to see things like that at WingDing but didn’t happen so I had to take a chance on the correct size. Got it correct.
I have since ordered the pants as well. So far I am loving this jacket. Even the short 20 min commute to work, I find myself throwing it on...As before with my mesh jacket I would have said, "Eh....just 20 min ride...not today"
Just ordered my Bohn All-Season Airtex Armored Riding Shirt (not the mesh version). Also got the riding pants as well. Just arrived so haven't had a chance to try it yet. I also ordered a cheap Speed and Strength Hot Head Jacket to wear over it. Will remove the armor that comes with the jacket but want it for some abrasion protection. Hopefully will never get to see how well it works.
Glad you are on the mend! Here in Southern Ontario, Canada, we get just as hot and humid as the Southern states in July and August. I wear a armored mesh jacket, Dianese jeans, Oxford boots, Joe Rocket gloves and now a recently new LS2 Valiant II white modular helmet. Also a motorcycle safety vest over my black GoldWing jacket adds more visibility. I'm 61 now and don't really care what others think. Mike, I bought the Bohn Armor leg protection gear, both all season and cool mesh summer. It is light, breathes well, and sure beats having my chaps fall off of my ass Everytime I step off the bike. I feel naked without armor on. I have just witnessed to many riders who crippled themselves, some losing limbs, who probably would have walked away had they been wearing good gear. There is a lot of good products including Bohn Armor which is excellent to allow you to ride in comfort in even the hottest weather. It is short sighted and foolish not to take advantage of it.
I had covid. Last April and still not completely back to myself. I rode my motorcycle twice since April. Thinking for my personal safety, they are coming up for sale. Heal your self.

@@MemphisMike901 The Roadcrafter Classic is great for winter. I have the R3 too, and I don't worry about a popup shower or thunderstorm. I'm thinking the R3 with heated gear should get my winter riding comfortable.
I always wear black mesh full armor gear and try to avoid stopping in the summer. Being able to split on the CA freeways, even at slow speeds, keeps it bearable with the air flow unless it gets over 100 degrees. Higher than that, I opt for the SUV. At least you didn't ditch the CB1100. You are always welcome to ride my CB1100 if you ever come out to Los Angeles. I'll tail you on my FJR.
Thanks for the info. Been thinking about getting a mesh jacket not just because of the protection incase of a crash but also protection from the sun. MC Rider did a nice video about a year ago on that. Glad you are okay and back to doing some videos.
As I said earlier I am very glad that you were able to more or less walk away from that. I currently do not have any kind of health insurance, and I have lost almost all interest in riding bikes for now, and that's why today my bike will be sold. Supposedly. He is going to come and "buy it today".........but we know how it goes selling stuff. That $14,500 ER visit is precisely why it scares the crap out of me to ride these days. The bike has insurance, but I have no health insurance. 😳 Good vid dude!
Good to see you back Mike! I wear my normal jacket and usually riding pants but underneath I wear LD comfort shirt and full length underwear. It's an engineered fabric with amazing properties. It keeps your skin dry and has amazing evaporative cooling properties. I wear it on my head too and if i wet it and open my helmet vent, it fells like air conditioning in 100+ temps. Great video. I wear along sleeve T shirt and armored shirt over. Have a water bottle with tight fitting straw in it, I squirt water right through the shirt to wet Tshirt really cools me off, bottle holds almost a qt, also wet inside of helmet!!!!
it fit true to size on me. If you have any doubts about size, i would call direct and speak with them. yeah funny thing about where i put the recorder....i did not put the ram straps around it...reason vid faded quickly...i hit a bump shortly after and it popped out! LOL...fortunately the audio cord held on and i did not lose it to the ground!

I always find it interesting how people talk about past experiences on crashes and the importance of wearing gear...but yet they fail to wear some of the most important gear like gloves. Unless you are going down like a dolphin....might want to save your hands.
Welcome back, It's refreshing to hear one share their story and with such openness. And like you say It can happen anywhere. I would like to add that for gear to be effective it must fit correctly and most or many wear ill fitting clothing. Now Bohn armor appears more base like and is most effective under a top layer.
