From my website :) "Under the name She Ties Flies, Erin Hyde and Alex Burnett create collaborative art by combining fly tying and digital media. Erin and Alex can often be found fishing their local Tampa Bay waters and their combined love for angling - along with their individual artistic inclinations - led to this collaboration. Erin ties fishing flies, Alex captures video of the process and edits, and the result is an immersive experience of visual/auditory stimulation and relaxation that can result in an ASMR (autonomous sensory meridian response) sensation for many. While fly tying is her newest foray, Erin has been knitting, weaving, sewing, spinning, felting, and competing for over a decade. She uses natural fibers most and enjoys an unabashed love affair with wool, in particular. Somewhat unusually, fly tying came before fly fishing for Erin. While she has enjoyed fishing spinners most of her life, she recently bought her first fly rod and reel and looks forward to a new angling adventure! Alex has been creating and editing videos personally and professionally for over 13 years. He finds inspiration in nature, and enjoys capturing the unique fishing culture of Tampa Bay."
The algorithm brought me here, and I'm not disappointed. My father used to tie flies when I was very young, and he taught me how to fly fish. I showed him your videos and we had a great time going down memory lane about when we'd go to the supply store for materials. He's in his '80s now, but the muscle memory is still there, and he's fascinated by all the new techniques that fly tiers can use now (like UV nail polish). Amazing work!
I was so happy to see you rub the chrome powder instead of just patting it on this time! Look at that mirror finish!! If you want to get rid of those pesky glitters on the top of the chrome, a soft fan brush (usually used for watercolor) would help really well! That’s what I use for my chrome powder anyway. Who knows, maybe you already knew about this stuff, but I like to think my comment helped. Just makes me feel good is all lol
The pheasant tail was to create the legs, and the resin and “makeup” which is just glitter, is to create the spotted, shiny look of the real bugs back. I know next to nothing about fly fishing but I’m pretty sure about that.
@@DIANTHUS-MAN That's a good enough answer for me. Fly fishing is a god-tier hobby...at least for me, it checks all the boxes, trout are always found in pretty places, cool water, fascinating bugs, tactile feel, relaxing, etc....actually its a LOT easier than people think.
Just came across your work and it so wonderful. I think we crossed paths on instagram. I paint a lot of flies and I feel such a connection with these edits with my own work and process. Bravo guys, will be playing in my studio and tying room often... RAKart
I don't sell flies at the moment - haven't figured out exactly how to price them and sell them fairly. Working on logistics! I'll put some thought into flies for carp!
@@shetiesflies thanks. Just wanted to throw some support your way for putting out such fine work. One of the guys I fish with has got me out for carp a few times and it's been fun.
