This is currently my favourite segment of the show. I love everything about it: the Mikey the Shoe impressions, Seth insulting us, his slow descent into insanity, and of course not to forget, the pamphlets that truly are a cry for help -- *chef's kiss*

"The jig is up." A common expression popular since mid-16th Century Elizabethan times, meaning "We're onto you, trickster." "The gig is up." A phrase coined by talk show host, Seth Meyers, doing a June, 2021 broadcast, meaning "I quit," or, you know, whatever Seth wants it to mean.

I used to be a die-hard Colbert fan and I still like him a lot but in the last year Seth has firmly cemented his position as the best in late night comedy. Although I probably shouldn't call it "late night" because part of his success has been abandoning the "late night" format. He's just doing what he's best at and I can't stop/won't stop loving it!

@Revenator9000 no, YOU'RE garbage! Seth and Stephen both kept me sane the last 5 years. I couldn't have done it without them both. Stephen is just as good with an audience, though I do miss the intimacy of his pandemic format; his wife's laughter off camera was oxygen. Oh, and Stephen just won ANOTHER Peabody Award.

Colbert returning to an audience was so cringe. This intimacy of a stand up night with the inside jokes is one of the coolest concepts I've seen in a long-time. It's connecting directly with the audience that matters - the ones at home.

Honestly not even just this show. It's one of the only segments out there that completely interacts with the online audience every week and has fun with it. RU-vidrs do all the time but usually late night and live only care about the live audience. This is 20 minutes devoted to us at home. Thank you

@@italiahockey That's what makes this show so special and makes me worried about bringing back an audience. He has the home audience as close as anyone right now and I think going back would lose that intimacy. It's cool to see live stuff, but this show has found its niche from the captain to corrections.

@@MYNAMEISGARY 100 agree. In 1 week of colbert being back i already feel the change and the distance from the show. I know its a live show and dont want that to change, but also dont 100 go back. Realize more people actually watch online then in person. I think seth and his crew ubderstand that a bit more with corrections and his monologue intros being random, and i feel seth will keep it goong a bit more. Colbert has fridays completely open and he should make his friday show back in the closet. He could still record it at his desk with Audience and a green screen of his office. A little showing of effort and care for us at home to is all we ask.

This has become hands down my favorite Seth. Explaining his mistakes like a kid explaining a loss at Fortnite, throwing his writers under the bus, creating a weird menagerie of colorful characters (love Micky The Shoe btw) and seemingly having a good time with all this craziness. Charging the Internet Jackals like Don Quixote his windmills. Spontaneous, messy and slightly nuts, that's how I like my Seth.

Seth Meyers is the single most consistently funny man on TV. I never get tired of watching his stream-of-consciousness mental meandering and he delivers in such a way that I feel like I'm part of the "conversation." I'm a bit sorry that before too long he'll bring the audience back and we'll lose the intimacy.

He truly is one-of-a-kind and definitely one of the sharpest minds and personalities out there. I regret not saying hello to him when I saw him in Vancouver at the Olympics in 2010... just talkin to a couple random people on the street as he was sort of backed up against a store-front wall. Totally engaged and no doubt charming as ever.

maybe the show will go the anthology route and name the second season Huge Open Shouting. But I would much prefer to watch the complete season of Mine Your Own Business, kinda weird that they just announce the title without any followup. I LOVE bytternyt but they really needs to up their game imo.

Nope, you read the Wikipedia entry wrong. So, to correct your correction for Corrections: "tomtenisse" is a gnome in Swedish, but in Finnish it's "tonttu".

dietotaku dietotaku I've also caught what's on the back of those cards recently. You have to go to full screen and really look to read it. It's similar to Chuck Lorre's vanity cards that flash at the end of his comedies which you have to freeze-frame to be able to read. Although they are all listed if you Google 'Chuck Lorre Vanity Cards'.

Colbert just brought the audience back and I don't like it, but I'm especially loving Seth without the audience. I hope they, at least, keep corrections like this forever. It's one of my favorite few minutes every week.

I hope Seth Meyers and James Corden decide to keep it audience-free. The jokes work so much better when they have room to breathe. Colbert and Fallon have reverted back to pre-pandemic audiences and it feels so outdated, like when sitcoms have laugh tracks.

There is SO MUCH to this joke - the impression, the references, the timing, but mostly the dead-on accuracy of the kind of joke Dennis Miller would think was funny, to an audience of himself. I HOPE it was as off-the-cuff as it sounded - even if not, it's brilliant.

If anything positive has come out of the last year's nightmare for "Late Night," it's a seemingly more confident Seth, and a crew that's grown so close they feel like our family now, too. I would usually catch the show in the before-times if it was on, but now I go out of my way to catch up on these segments. Great work, everybody!

I love the hidden jokes on the back of the card seth is reading from...this time it was right after he said that he would not stoop as low as doing a "for your consideration ", because he already has an emmy...and he lifts the card and it says ...For your consideration... makes me want to go back to older episodes and check the cards. I've only caught it a couple times

There was a time when I loved Trevor Noah, John Oliver, and Seth somewhat equally, but I have to say this last year, Seth has taken a comfortable lead over the others. He never disappoints. There’s something about his delivery, role-playing and breaking character that I find so funny.

This would explain why when Seth asked, "now what did we hear?" I thought to myself, "well, I heard a beep, but...." And I realize now there is a difference between hearing the beep, and experiencing the bleep. Thank you for clarifying the two.
