Great to the point video - thank you Thomas. Could you also do a Costco haul for Carbs and Healthy Fats?
@stealth07r1
@stealth07r1 Год назад
Thomas, can I ask you why you seem to be emphasizing the mono and poly unsaturated fats over the saturated fats in the meat products? My understanding of healthy dietary fat IS clean animal saturated fats. For contrast eggs, as we all know, just about the perfect food, are very high in saturated fat but you didn't mention that in the egg discussion'. Not trying to complain or trap you...I'm really interested to understand. Thank you for wonderful video...I've been thinking about wading back into the craziness of COSTCO shopping to start buying more bulk for high quality red meat and hamburger. This vid convinces me to go back in. Ironically you skipped the red meat zone completely. : /

This channel really is top tier in a super saturated youtube space. Really love how you break everything down and are realistic about diets. Tired of the channels where we have guys eating a absurdly amount of oatmeal, 3 eggs, and a half a bottle of egg whites for breakfast and then just plain chicken and broccoli for all other meals. This is a channel where people can actually translate it to their actual lives. Keep it up man you are awesome.

When you trim out all the empty processed foods and carbs, there isn't much food bulk left.. It's like they developed modern foods to look big, taste nice, and also give you an inverted food pyramid! Beef and broccoli is my go to, could eat it every day. Bang for buck/convince there is nothing quite like buying a beef roast, pork loin, ham chunk, turkey. Slow cook it, oven roast it, make your own dry rub or keto friendly marinade to go with them. Whole proteins for weeks, without the need to spend an insane amount of money. Might feel like it's expensive but nothing compared to a big costco haul. Also important to stay hydrated, eat your vegetables more so then the meat. Helps with fiber, digestion and prevents some of the hard to digest proteins or processed foods from sitting around in your gut increasing your risk of digestive problems along with colon cancer. Lets not forget the benefits of doing the odd 24 hour water fast too! once again help clear out you digestive system and offer a wide range of additional benefits. Last but not least use a sauna or steam if available to you; huge host of benefits. Thomas thank you for all the information you provid to the public!

The resealable bag is 5.5 pounds and is now just over $70, although it used to sell for under $40. One scoop is 31 grams, of which 24 grams is protein. It has almost no fat or carbs, and comes in vanilla or chocolate. It mixes easily into a shake. Between those two yogurts, I would definitely be going with Fage because: *Two less grams carbs per serving *Slightly bigger serving size, 3/4 cup vs. 2/3 cup *Slightly more sodium. Miniscule, but every bit matters on keto. *Higher nutrient percentages. Two grams more on total sugars, but that's the sacrifice, I guess. More pluses than minuses.

Your Greek yogurt assessment...some may note the difference in the serving size. Minimal. However, some folks may find it enough to pick one over the other, which is one thing to note when comparing products.

I eat a lot of those Kirkland protein bars, I like them a lot. Especially if you keep them in the fridge.

I don't see why not pick the orgain over the other plant based powder if you are vegan. Both have a perfect amino acid profile. You don't need 20 different protein sources to get a good amino acid profile. My favorite I've seen so far is the GNC plant based powders though not at Costco.

best thing as costco are those boneless skinless sardines. The lorissa beef jerky is pretty good too but expensive like most jerky.

If you can get 1 gram of protein per 10 calories, you're doing good. Foods that fall into that category are Greek Yogurt and Cod. Those bars having a pretty surprising ratio actually. Sometimes I'll look at the macros on an average fitness bar and it'll be like 250 calories and 10 grams oof protein...which is shitty.

video idea: Dear Thomas, Thank you for this detailed video again. I know we are not crazy meticulous about counting calories as a main rule, but in this video you were crunching numbers a bit based on protein calorie ratios, which gave you clear indication of what to deem as "Thomas approved". I dont know if it would make any sense to make a short "instruction manual" about the calorie/protein/fat ratio in certain foods that make you happy in the framework of your nutrition approach recently, to put us into the ballpark about what to look for in numbers when we visit our local grocery stores. Thank you very much in advance

Check out the book The P:E Diet by Ted Naiman for an expanded version of this general idea, with lots of examples. P:E is the ratio of protein to energy.
