@@LQOTW shes not acting like she was raped. the entire kidnap was unneeded. no ransom was even asked for. and the plan was so good yet was asked for less than a 20k randsom. why not do this at a millionaire's house or at least a rich mans house. sounds all abit fake.
givmespace - WHAT???? 🤨 you are acting as if this was a joke😠 it’s no joke, and nobody acts the same too an ordeal like the one she went through!! Also the guy with same ammo attacked another couple and confessed too kidnapping her and raping her, the other couple was able too get away from the same thing!! WTF more do you need🙄 so disgusting👿
And now all these armchair detectives are doing the same to Sherri Papini because of Gone Girl. And because they're all too stupid that they're that influenced by a FICTIONAL STORY.
What the fuck. They apologise in a letter denying they did anything wrong but they said she was a criminal on VIDEO on TV. So that cop should have been fired!
I’ve never wanted a couple to succeed in life and stay together as much as I do for them! I’m sooo happy they won 2.5 million!!! This couple deserves happiness for the rest of their life! I’m so glad they are stronger
Exactly. You’re right. When I heard that I was angry. And then the guy only got 40 in the jailhouse? Should be life in prison without parole, 20 million for the settlement and a PUBLIC apology.
Stefan F. No. We cannot trust our instincts - if we did we would still believe that the earth is flat, the sun circles around the earth, and Poseidon causes tidal waves. Our instincts are unreliable. Maybe this couple didn’t act the way you would expect them to act, but no one can say how they would react until they’re in that situation. If the police had looked at the EVIDENCE, like they should have, instead of following their UNRELIABLE INSTINCTS, this couple would not have had to suffer as much as they did. Instincts < Evidence
Chris Moeller I don't deny that evidence outweighs instincts, and I'm not suggesting that she wasn't kidnapped, I'm saying they are lying about something. Who knows what it is. It's more than just instincts, their body language and their story has something about it that they aren't revealing, perhaps due to the embarrassing nature of it.
my cousin was raped and the way the police treated her when she reported it she said she felt more violated by the police most time the system fails us and this is one such case
Cashiba camrin I felt the same way as both a 12 year old and 15 year old reporting physical and sexual abuse, because my abusers were well known, responsible, “good” community members and I was just a depressed teenage girl who surely must have Freudian hysteria
@@amyg4115 im having the same problem...annoying liars! Slandering, vandalizing, stalking, pure Harrassment. N they never turned in the first report for domestic violence against me n my son by his father and ganged up on by his parents and chased to my car as his mom threw my baby infants clothes at me while trying to buckle him in. Lied to police...i begged for him to call the cops and instead he calls his parents that live next door. After he hung up the phone he put his hands up and jumped back like he knew his que... Ever since then after the following Monday getting an injunction against him its been hell.
I was assaulted on my way home from the gym by a stranger and the female police told me that she was certain it happened because my shorts were too short.
Yeah its super relevant.... that's why police never accept responsibility. They just pay hush money and go about business, because they dont care about money
wow, i feel so bad for this couple, this story makes me lose even more faith in the police. I can't believe they'd dismiss their case and hold a press conference calling them liars without even looking into it. At least they caught the guy and these two had their reputations restored
sad day when this type stuff hapoens😡 if someone went and said lies about something random then they prosecute the innocent person. so over lazy cops. the chief should have to publicly apologize and then be fired. she could have been killed because he didn't want to do his job😡😡😡
Not one tear from her boyfriend. Something is off about him. There are still alot of loop holes in this story. How come they did not kidnap her boyfriend too and in most cases if a couple is targeted the usually kill the man because they don't want the witness to be alive. Why was his life spared but she was kidnapped and tortured? how come the police never looked into that? Also how odd is it that the criminals sent the police a letter admitting to their guilt. The whole thing just seems like it was planned by her boyfriend in an attempt to get rid of her. Their engagment is just to keep his reputation in tact as the innocent bf. I feel bad for whites because often times the assumption is that they are innocent and the victims who are usually white, almost never get the true justice they deserve. They are only hurting their own community by not charging the perpetartors to the full extent.
@@GLamoRousCooKie Yes, the woman had it worse but that does not mean the man did not go trough anything. He was accused of murdering his girlfriend, had she had not been so brave he would be behind bars. That must have been traumatic for him. You can see how supportive he is of her. You can fuck off.
When the criminals think the police didn't do enough to help the victims, you know it was handled poorly. Smh. The moron who went on camera to condemn that couple should definitely be fired.
Larissa T I'm so sorry. I too was ridiculed by those who were supposed to help me. But there are some good eggs out there too and that gives me hope! ☺️
I was sexually abused as a child, and when I finally told my mom when I was 12 y.o. we went to the police and immediately started making me feel like I was lying about it. They asked me multiple questions, asking if I was lying or if I had seduced him in any way. They also asked if I was making it up because I was angry at him. I was very surprised. At 12, I didn't think that anyone could lie about something like that. I felt alienated.
Marlena Griego: That is absolutely reprehensible behavior on the part of the police. It took profound courage to even report it. And it also endangered more young girls to be assaulted afterward instead of heinous monsters being locked up and crimes stopped. There ARE noble policemen out there who DO protect.
More of police finest blaming and re-victimizing the victims then brushing it off as they’ve been found to be truthful just another day in the corrupt world of law enforcement. This couple is amazing strong given the injustice
Her lip and chin quivering after being declared innocent is heart shattering. Hard to imagine going to people who are supposed to help and being told it didn’t happen.
Just wondering if those police officers who were involved, especially the person who did the press conference are still working there. They should have been fired right out.
I've lost count how many times I watch a part 1 of a 20/20 special, only to find no ending, no middle of the story, I dread this happening, and sure enough, it happens, over and over. Really ticks me off!!!!!!
Not only that, the public was still in danger, because they publicly shamed this couple when the guy was clearly still out there. Only until he got caught because he left his cell phone behind...he would have kept getting away with it.
Back in 1999, my boyfriend and I were in our apartment in the middle of the day. 3 men broke in and held us up at gunpoint, robbed us and pistol whipped my boyfriend in the back of his head. The police treated us like garbage. They literally accused of us being drug dealers (despite there not being any drugs or paraphernalia in the apartment). They didn't investigate anything whatsoever. There were a string of similar incidents in the same area that we didn't learn about until later. The only reason the incidents came to light was because the 3 men ended up setting a place on fire that they robbed, killing 3 people inside. When it was being reported, there was no mention at all that the previous incidents hadn't been investigated. People had to die in order for the police to do their job.
So glad they caught this creep! Shame on that stupid Vallejo cop and the other people who humiliated this poor couple... as if they haven't been through enough already!
This is not just the police, but also the public who treated them horribly! But it is difficult not to have had that reaction when the police initially made such strong statements about them and what had happened - or not happened, really. It's disgraceful and concerning how they as victims were blamed.
That police department needs to be cleaned out. Not only did they botch the investigation on so many levels they also tried to pin it on the victims🤦🏻♀️
Because people overestimate their ability to detect lies. If they already believe someone is lying, even before any evidence, they’ll read it into their body language any way they can
Wow, they had no problem publicly humiliating them but can't publicly apologize.....I'm glad they got a big pay down out of that cruel pd dept. No amount of money will make it right what they did to them, especially after she was already a true victim and was lucky to even be alive they added insult and humiliation, defamation of character to the list publicly putting doubt in people's mind. I'm so glad they found the right guy and they can move on from this and stay together. It also strikes me scary that the perpetrator was a Harvard educated man.
I’m usually not in favor of huge lawsuit payouts, however, this couple deserved compensation. I’m confounded that the Vallejo PD not only had the audacity to mot take the couple seriously, but the disparaging comments made about them by the Vallejo PD was way out of line. What did the couple have to gain by perpetrating this “hoax”? Absolutely nothing! This is how innocent, law abiding citizens end up behind bars for the rest of their lives.
@@yourinnerlawyer4035 Good for me what?? I don’t even remember what this video was about; this comment is 7 months old. You might want to try to stay current.
Lt. Park should lose his job! Det. Mustard is an absolutely sorry excuse for a cop! Every citizen in Vallejo need to voice their disapproval to the city council & fire these bad cops!
They WROTE A LETTER!?! Ummmm negative. That press conference was repulsive all on its own, but the way that these VICTIMS were treated during, and after the ordeal was criminal. Incredibly unprofessional. This woman was so lucky to make it home alive. That should have been celebrated, but instead she was interrogated. Ew.
Having watched the entire Netflix series on her case, I am surprised at how evil people can be. Reading some comments from years ago, I am disappointed, angry, and frustrated to see people accusing her of lying, despite the evidence clearly showing that she was indeed a victim of rape and kidnapping. Those cops and FBI agents who mishandled the case, those in the media who portrayed the victim as a liar and a hoax, and those individuals who agreed without questioning how sketchy the investigation was-y'all have a special place in hell. You are evil walking on this planet, failing to be human by disregarding the suffering of victims of these horrible crimes. You are the reason why evil is flourishing, as you yourselves contribute to it.
so the law is going off of movies now? How pathetic is the world i grew up in. When i was little i thought adults were geniuses,i thought they could do no wrong. Boy was i wrong. Grew up to see nothing but walking idiots
It's so so scary to think that if something terrible happens you don't even have the police to check on it or help. That you have to go through it alone. I will never ever call the police. They are , more than ever, the enemy
The Vallejo policeman who massively defamed them to the world should publicly apologize and be absolutely fired. How dare him shame them to the world and then think he doesn’t need to publicly apologize.
I cannot believe the chief held a press conference assuring the public they were "safe" when they very obviously were not safe, because the kidnapper struck again!
Imagine a case where the criminal sees the le enforcement not doing their job believing their victims and going out of their way to almost out himself for them to take it seriously. Because the media and the law are just focusing on salacious, imaginative scenarios. It took him redoing similar crimes and getting caught for the whole story to come together and believing the victims… pretty crazy and infuriating. Thank God those cops, who investigating his last crime in another city nearby, arresting him and putting all the dots together. Shameful of their Vallejo police and FBi department for not believing there’s more and investigating, even when shown more proof. Im glad they Denise and Aaron won their settlement against them and got their justice restored.
I’m so glad that they showed the police how foolish they acted. I’m so glad she made it out. She used her wits and guts to prevail. Thank God her boyfriend went to the police great guy.
Why are people so comfortable dismissing very bad conduct from police? They should be fired at the very minimum and not allowed to work in any position of power.
I remember watching the documentary on Netflix recently. What a joke that police department is! Detective: Don't worry, you're not a suspect or anything. We don't want you to feel that way at all. Just take your time and tell us everything that happened. Boyfriend: *Tells detective what happened* Detective: You're a monster! I'm gonna make sure you get thrown in a cell and the key gets thrown away!
I think they drew the comparison because the police immediately suspected her husband, and when she reappeared, they thought she had faked her disappearance. But, of course they were the opposite of the movie character s or what the police thought..in real life.
This story is one of the reasons why I never ended up reporting any of the times I was sexually assaulted, I didn’t think the police would believe me especially when my own mother and people around me wouldn’t and would call me a liar and shame me for reaching out for help
I remember this horrible story & the police via media had us all convinced this couple was lying BUT I had a gut feeling the couple was 100% truthful. I'm so sorry she had to go through this nightmare! Forever haunted I'm sure...
They wasted valuable time!!! She could have endured this for days more or who knows even killed and her husband would have been falsely accused! Absolutely disgusting police work even the kidnapper was disgusted and he’s a piece of trash! I’m glad they won a civil suit but that interrogator I hope is without a job. He’s the one who watched too many movies!
What a nightmare! I am feeling sick from this travesty! I am so sorry for you both! Please find a happy place mind, body, healing and your souls. 🍃🕊🍃🌼❤ God is with you!
So terrible that these people had to go through this! Not only being the victims of the brutal rape and kidnapping, but then to be accused of lying about it. Sometimes I think the police are corrupt. When they can't even correctly investigate, and end up pointing the finger of blame on the actual victims. Wtf.
I can’t imagine what they had to go through omg. How scary. The fact that we live in a world where people with power using the wrong way. The system is so corrupt!!! Our world is now deceiving.
This is so sad on how the police didn't do anything when they can easily trace the kidnapper from the boyfriend's phone. Their lives have been ruined but they were able to restore thanks to the detective from the other city who is doing their job properly.
Its unprofessional to go in front of press and talk about a crime unless the victim permits. Maybe it was a cop who did it and he was protecting his own. Many victims are not believed after being raped and that is why they do not come forward.
Wow Wow Wow. How in the hell can a police department get it so terribly wrong yet say they wouldn’t change anything??????????? My prayers go out to this couple for all the trauma they went thru and prayers they have a long and happy life together.
