I hate when people say "I'm a bad texter" because it's almost always bullshit. A "bad texter" might misspell a lot of things, or get distracted and leave on you read here and there, or just provide a lot of short answers because they prefer to talk on the phone. If they're only replying sporadically, or consistently leaving you on read, or they never initiate conversations... that's not being a bad texter. That person just doesn't care. Just say "I'm not that into you" or whatever and be done with it.

I had a girl come back around after a questionable absence. She straight ghosted me if i am honest. Month later, she texts me asking how are thing's, and i eventually got around to calling her out for her treat me poorly. She tried to laugh it off as a "No, i would never do that" until my receipts disagreed. I ended up blocking her the same day Guys. please have standards. You are a human being too. Your time is valuable too. There IS someone out there that is willing to try just as hard as you do, to be in your life. Never accept answers such as "i knew i liked you once i rant through the rest and decided to double back to the only option that instantly drooled over me". Because seriously, imagine if the tables were turned, how quickly she would point out every single toxic detail about your whole existence if you did the same to her.

Preach so correct on this.. one time I was outside smoking on break with some of my boys.. I had a beer on my coat pocket and some herb in my back pocket trying to chill. I’m a girl, so I don’t know if this is a difference in gender or if it’s just me, but I am a bad texter, and for me it’s the opposite of what they were saying. If I’ve been on one or two dates, I’m more likely to be bad at texting back because I haven’t built a strong connection and haven’t fully lowered my walls to expect anything out of it yet…. It’s when I’ve bonded with someone more and connected with them deeper that they’re the person I’m constantly thinking to text when I see a meme or whatever or ask about their day. When I’ve gone on one or two dates with someone and I’m still figuring them out and if there’s even chemistry and all that-I’m much more likely to see their text, not know how to respond and get distracted by something I’m doing and intend to respond later and just forget. I’ve also left friends and family “on read” for days numerous times in the past when my anxiety or depression has been bad. (And a lot of times dating gives me anxiety and even if I am into someone will find reasons to put off dates and all that when it’s still new)

It’s so strange how circumstances influence your perception. For example, the two women… I completely agree with everything you guys said regarding their different financial situations, specifically the part where you said that the woman who’s feelings were hurt by the other’s obvious distaste. However, in December I lost job where I had a 6 figure salary. Back then, I would’ve wholeheartedly hopped on the, “that’s your problem” bandwagon. However, now while rebuilding I’m not making what I did back in December and can relate to the woman who had her feelings hurt on some level even though I still agree that it is something that she needs to get over. Anyway, I say all of this to say that regardless of our past experiences our current perception is largely influenced by our current reality and I think it’s interesting.

Truly bad texters exist, I live with one. I have been with my man for almost 5 years, and he is trash at texting. It’s his brain though. ADD/ADHD riddled brain and he is also a paramedic and they seem to suffer from threshold syndrome like a mofo. Because of the things he is done and we have been through, I know he loves me. I don’t need him to reply to a text for that. He was like that when I met him and he is still like that now, and we share a life! That being said… I would agree that MOST people, more so than not, who say they are “bad texters” just don’t have a lot of want to text you back.

I'm a quadruple texter, i be having podcasts with myself in that chat, he's going to come back to his phone to see a lot of nonsense.

I dunno, I have adhd and social anxiety, when I see someone text me I get anxious and I formulate a reply in my mind and then I’m building up courage to text it even when I’m super excited about someone, or even when I’ve known them for decades, with my friends I’m more likely to respond quicker because I know them I can predict their responses, so that makes me less anxious, but if I’m having a few bad days even my friends don’t hear from me cause I’m too in my head about how to respond. Because of that, I often do genuinely forget to reply, I’ve formulated the reply in my head, when I eventually get distracted before I found the courage to reply, I forget and then get convinced I did send it, then I be waiting for their reply and to avoid getting anxious about that I put it out of my mind, like they’ll respond when they’re ready, it’s chill it’s cool, then if I really like them it’ll be a day or so where i go to check and then realise omg I didn’t text, now I’m freaking out that I haven’t replied and how rude I may seem. On a good day, I pull up my big girl panties and say honestly I thought I replied and was waiting for you, if it’s a bad day, I just continue to freak out until I’m distracted or the person texts again and then I’ll try to figure it out from there repeating the cycle. But then I also get anxious with phone calls 😅 I don’t know how to fix it but I’m in therapy so 🤞🏽 but for years I didn’t know I had social anxiety and couldn’t figure out why texting and calls were so stressful so I just came off as uninterested or aloof, or leading people on 🤷🏽‍♀️ Sometimes is just hard for people, but maybe they shouldn’t be dating until they figure that out 🤔
