I did the honesty thing with my boyfriend and it was the most eye opening thing to our relationship. My boyfriend's always really macho, he's just like the regular buff guy you see, with tattoos all over and rarely smiles in public. He's exactly like that, people get scared to approach him but in real life, when we're at home he's the sweetest guy ever, always smiling, loves cooking. When we're alone, he showers me with kisses and holds me in his arms but it's like he turns into steel outside. So I told him that "I wish you weren't so scared of showing people that you loved me outside" and he started tearing up. He said that he wasn't sure that people believed he was even capable of loving anybody because of his cold exterior but he loves me more than anything. After hearing that and after hearing what I said, he would kiss my hand in public and you can tell he's trying really hard, but now I'm the one who pulls our hands down and says "Its okay baby." Try the honesty thing sometime, you never really know how much your partner is keeping from you just to keep your love alive.
