We have miniature horses and alpacas. I like watching our guy work because our animals love him and it fascinates me how it's done. I've been watching Nate's videos for about a week and it's like Dr Pimple Popper for farming. I'm too old to apprentice with someone or I'd learn how. It would make a tidy side income for us.
Both are prob an evolutionary trait plus we started putting shoes on horses so having tougher feet was no longer a needed trait for the domestic species since we take care of horses ourselves now. Same for cows. I guess since they never had horse shoes or protection only those who healed the fastest survived
I was already in awe that the hoof will release a sole to try to heal. The fact that it treated a broken bone by expelling it the same way is mind-blowing
The way it works is when you upload a video it gets scanned electronically looking for content not advertiser friendly. Images, words, thumbnails, tags etc can trip it and get the video flagged as not suitable. Then we have to ask for a manual human review. That can take days sometimes. Then it’s at the discretion of the reviewer to determine whether it’s acceptable. The more viewers you get the more scrutiny your videos get or at least that’s the way it seems. It’s considered shocking content. Unfortunately, that’s the way the game is played. There’s a very fine line with hoof trimming content. I’ve got some ideas I’m working through to bring that content to those interested though if it becomes too problematic.
Yes sir but you can still help people who ever want to learn by making an account on Telegram and you can post any kind of videos you want on Telegram thank you sir❤❤❤🇵🇰❤❤❤
Patreon is a good option to keep profit. You can set it up and post those R rated videos there mixing it with your regular content, but post it there a day or two earlier than on RU-vid. Anyway, would be happy to support you on any platform!
RU-vid has gotten ridiculous, they are stealing from the creators when they demonetize. I will never trim a cows hoof but man the education you give us is awesome and interesting.
This can happen to humans too. Of course our bodies either wrap it in cartilage or push it out. Sometimes it can be both. Human podiatry in my opinion is more scary to watch.
1:54 Nate, your eyesight is amazing! How can you see these fractures from 150000 feet away? Absolutely astounded. You're an amazing trimmer, and if I had cattle, I'd trust you with them in a heartbeat.
I appreciate how you take the time to educate those of us that have no hoof care knowledge. I'm a retired middle school English teacher who is enjoying a second career as a small town rural librarian in Texas. I've greatly enjoyed learning the art and science of hoof care from you. Now I'm able to keep up my end of conversation at the local Co-Op Feed and Seed. Keep up the good work young man! :)
This appeals to me in a very primal way like, "warm fire good." I guess it's "remove bad, let good heal." That's why I'm a little miffed we didn't get to see the cleanup of the bone. We didn't get to fully see the injury removed, sympathise with the poor girl's pain, and then see the healing treatment. We only saw the bone out, a little bit of a wash, then the bandage. As far as the viewer sees (and again, monkey brain here so the inference doesn't fully substitute), there's still all the damage down there. I know it's not your fault, it just doesn't seem as complete with a middle part of the treatment missing.
honestly dude the moment an entire bone the size of my nose fell out of the cow's foot, i was good. I only finished watching to make sure she was recovering well
Humans have cared for animals for so long that it makes sense for monke brain ugg ugg to be satisfied by healing animals. Even the salicylic acid and wrap he does would have been wrapping the hoof in some leaves with herbs inside. Most of his videos produce that primal satisfaction for me, too.
I know. My favorite parts are of him trimming with the knife and cutting down and around the open wounds and pulling objects out of the hoof. It's very satisfying.
You can’t learn to trim raw flesh by watching RU-vid clips!!!!! For that you MUST attend a proper corse. Otherwise all sorts of cowboys will be going around messing poor animals feet
I am the least qualified possible person for this type of work, but watching some of these videos has made me want to do this. It takes so much care and attention to detail, and is so important for an animal’s comfort. His ability to share his work so that people like me can see the value of it is really cool.
I can’t believe how gentle you are compared to other people in your profession. I can’t watch them beyond a few seconds and switch over to your channel Thank you 🙏
“Oh my god, your bone fell out of your foot!” “Eh. It happens. It’ll grow back, it’s not that bad.” “W-what?” “It’s a feature, it’s not too bad. I should elevate some other part, I’ll be fine.” “Your bone fell out of your-“ “YES I’M OKAY SUSAN GODDAMN”
Me: *Stubs toe and swears violently* Cow: *Has a huge piece of bone painfully working its way out of her hoof and doesn't even flinch about it* Me: ... How does a cow have better pain tolerance than I do.
I greatly appreciate your use of the drawing of the cow's foot to illustrate what you are doing and how the hoof develops. The HoofGP could use some guidance on this point.
I was waiting on this update, to think that so much damage could have come from something that looked so small and insignificant! Hope you will post more about her progress, am so curious about how long and what process it will take for her foot to completely heal!
This is like Dr Pimple Popper for the farm set. I've been binge watching your videos. For some reason this fascinates me more than watching our alpacas and horses get trimmed.
My 5 yrs old daughter loves your vids. Today we randomly saw this older vid and we were very surprised to see a purple bandaid! Please bring more of this color and pink bandaid... :)
I hope your ranchers appreciate just how good you are at what you do. Just thinking about how your initial work probably saved a vet visit (if not a trip for an x-ray) and possibly her claw. Keep up the great work Nate!
Thanks for the taking the time to add in a diagram to explain what you’re talking about. You do an amazing job explaining without being condescending to your audience.
As much as I enjoy all your work and videos, Nate, I truly adore your fan family as well. The comments are inspiring, caring, and lots of time hilarious. Thank you Nate’s fan family for making the experience even more wonderful.❤️
I'm an xray tech, so I "work" with bones all the time, and it feels so wrong to me that a bone can literally just... fall out of the foot without a big, messy accident. Also how well it heals with minimal care (compared to human medicine). Cow hoofs are wild.
Even though I would have liked seeing the whole process I greatly respect your choice to abide by RU-vid guidelines, and your decision not to show what happened. As always your videos are great and you do a fantastic job 👏🏻 so glad this she's getting better now!
Several farming You Tubers show the things like lambing and calvings on Instagram. Your subscribers are usually interested in content that is not censored. As always great job!
Excellent video. It is vital to farmers, trimmers and even home people. You have to be able to recognize trouble, have an idea of what can be done and things as how long to recovery. All there.
Not only are these videos fascinating and educational, but the comment sections are the loveliest I've come across on youtube. Thank you, Nate, for your excellent work!
Omg...she can lose a chunk of bone in her hoof and heal? I broke the crap out of my tibia plateau and have had 1 surgery already to fix it and need a second.. I want cow bones😂💪🏼👍🏻 As always lucky cow she has you to fix it. Bet your a lot cheaper then a human surgeon!
I agree with how ridiculous the standards are. This is obviously not the type of content they should be protecting against. Common sense just ain't all that common. My suggestion would be to upload two videos every time. Make it as gory as you want, and use a blur effect in whatever editing software you use to make a monetizable version. Keep up the great work.
The problem is you don't want amateurs seeing this stuff and thinking they're an expert and then going out and mutilating poor animals because they think they know what they're doing.
Biochem student here, from what I can tell foot bones in most large mammals can regenerate quite quickly, this aids in survival out in the wild, where you trimmed the hoof and got the bone out, as the animal grinds down its hoof it ejects the bone through the sole as the new bone grows, this allows the animal to keep moving if a bit lame, but it would be a painful process without treatment. Hope this helps
No to be mean but what you said sounds like common knowledge. i feel like most people forget that we aren’t supposed to live that long so yes this might be a issue for cows but becomes a god sent to a hungry lion lol even people aren’t supposed to live as long as we do why you think we got a man made virus out right now.
This video is so old but the bone going through the sole kinda makes sense from an evolutionary standpoint. In the wild, cows wouldn't have any assistance with a break like that, and it could cause significant damage if its sharp, so the body builds a pocket of infection around it and slowly rejects it through the hoof.
This is so satisfying to see the healing process. I am an animal fanatic, and the care you take with these animals is great. I admire and respect your work and I cannot watch enough of your videos, and like so many others, I stumbled upon your channel by chance. Love you, Nate.
Gosh…you are impressive. The gentle kindness you displayed treating the Cows very bad hoof, was compelling to watch. Also, you have a really nice voice tone to listen to.!😁
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE… Please give us the pleasure of watching the cows walking happily when it’s all done. That’s the most exciting part. Only a minute or two please.
Not a farmer and don't even have a pet fish to my name. Didn't even know this service was needed. Somehow UT just recommended one of you videos, and even I can appreciate your work. Thanks for the education. Cheers!
Hi Nate! Another good video ~~ it will be interesting to see how this cow progresses with her altered anatomy. As for YT, I hate that they demonetized your video. There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to their decisions. As some have commented, you can view awful things done human to human, but YT balks at things like hoof trimming, animal birth, etc. We love you, Nate ~~ keep on keeping on and so will we! Take good care!
Nate, I see you doing some really amazing knife trimming/carving work on hoof that varies in hardness, and keep thinking "chain mail mesh gloves." But having watched quite a few of your videos, I've rarely seen you put your "free" hand in any location where it could be cut if the knife skidded or slipped (such as on a buried foreign object). I'm sure you must sharpen your own knives, and buy very good ones right off the hop. My father who in his day did more than a little work with knives, chisels, planes and axes, used to say there were not many things more dangerous than a dull knife. Thank you for posting these - this is a field completely outside my own experience, but it's always a pleasure to see an expert at work. It's a real education. You often make much of the jobs look easy; I suspect they are anything but!. Best regards from northern Alberta (where we also have a few cows and beef cattle).
Wondering if I'm the only one out here who watches Nate's videos that has zero connection to cows/farming? I clicked on one a few weeks ago out of odd curiosity, & now I'm watching every one that pops up on my feed. I find Nate's voice very relaxing, & the subject is actually pretty interesting. I'd had no clue that our bovine friends could suffer from such hoof issues. They look SO painful, poor girls! Thanks for teaching this old lady something new.🐄🐄🐄
#RU-vid sucks. This is for educational purposes. There would not and should not be an issue of you showing how u cleaned the hoof. And I’m not blaming you here... RU-vid is terrible. I can now go watch wrestling matches featuring blood and gore.... but fixing a hoof is not allowed? F RU-vid. Nate the Hoof Guy rules. Is there a way to see the full clean?
@@NatetheHoofGuy If you're willing to open a Patreon account, you could put full cleans there, under a minor paywall. I know a lot of movie and TV reaction channels I have been watching lately all seem to do that.
Poor girl. I'm glad she is healing well and you will keep her on a good maintenance schedule. Did she get stepped on by another cow in order to receive such a bad injury? I was just wondering. Thank you for all you do to keep these sweet gentle giants healthy.
I would have liked to see the cleanup, I find these videos interesting and learn from them. I could understand a graphic warning, but there is nothing wrong with seeing how you do your job. Sorry for silly rules.
RU-vid just made me watch "The Hoof GP" video, it was like torture. You're right my husband and I felt like we were cheating on you, and the soundtrack was terrible. Not sure why anyone wants to watch someone trim hoofs to the soundtrack from Frozen?? Also, if you have never watched "This Old Tony" on RU-vid you should. . . pretty sure you two were separated at birth. Love your videos, they are oddly relaxing, keep up the good work!
@@river_brook I was referring to a joke Nate said about watching the hoof GP feeling like cheating. Sorry to offend your delicate senses, try clutching your pearls a little harder I hear it helps lol.
@@wren1024 it's an opinion. Your free to yours, and youtube has created a place to express opinions. If it hurts you fragile sensibilities, dont read them.
I broke the talus in my left foot a while back. They had to put screws in to make it heal. Then 6 no weight bearing, 6 weeks walking boot. 2 years later, I had my calcaneous and talus fused due to arthritis. Same things. 12 weeks laid up. That kind of surgery is impossible on a large animal. I'm amazed at the things you can do to a cow's foot that I can't imagine doing to a horse or donkey. No way could you elevate one side of the hoof like that. It really amazes me how delicate large animals are. If my jack Russell twists a leg, he just limps. If he broke a leg(!) You get it fixed or amputate. No so easy on a cow, horse, or donkey.
Amazing the way our creator has designed and created animal and human bodies to heal themselves especially when we take measures like assisting this injury! Great job Nate!!! 👍
Does losing a pedal bone make it more difficult for a cow to walk? Does it put extra stress on the other interior bones of the foot? The healing is quite amazing. Thanks for another great video!
It's insane how much animals can come back from things that look and sound so crazy to us. She lost part of her toe bone and is gonna be okay! But like, even with amuptations of like cats and dogs, they do not let it slow them down. It's pretty inspiring.
