you can use a propane torch on the ballistic gel to melt the surface slightly and clear it up to see inside better, saw the SlowMo Guys doing it in one of their vids

I love the .44 magnum in both revolver and lever action, it's a beast without being too hard on the hand or shoulder. Those flat nose hardcast rounds in the shell holders will be very effective for hunting, subsonic included (within the range limitations of course).

@@TomKappeln Seems like he could afford a really good high dB meter. I'd just like to know the data. Know I could research that further with other youtubers or picking through reddit. Just seems like Matt shows how silent or loud the guns are without any data. Difficult to quantify over bad laptop speakers. Big fan of Matt K. and will always watch videos from his many channels btw.

@@ianparsons8019All of that gets kinda hazy when you compare different meters, db vs hertz, etc. Any meter used on several weapons of known loudness to get comparative numbers (vs the unknown one) seems like the best method to me. Regardless of exact accuracy you're still basically comparing apples to apples, good enough.

Matt, minor thing that I noticed whenever you shoot a lever gun. You always unshoulder the rifle when you run the action. Not sure if its just habit, but you would get better and faster follow up shots by keeping it shouldered. Oooor, if you are unshouldering it because you need more leverage on the action, they you might need to get the action smoothed up. My 1873 used to have a rough acton but now its butter smooth and can be run with just a pinky. (Plus reloading shouldered looks more ‘operator’) Edit: I guess in the ‘rapid fire’ section he kept it shouldered, but the action seemed clunky to me. Idk. Im sure the fuds and SASS folks would know more
