This and Spyro 4 are interesting games for me, cos it was that period of time where i knew the games were bad but I couldn't articulate into words why they were bad. I just knew something was off.
Don’t listen to people on the internet who try to shit talk this game, as somebody who also really likes wrath of cortex I still stand by that this game is great even after revisiting it years later.
I played it a lot as a kid and can defend some levels as fun but it's not even a question of if it held up graphically since it always kinda looked like vomit

Some say this game's horrible, some say it's okay, some say its good. The game overall is just mid. Of course RU-vidr receptions of it is usually dramatically negative for some strange reason.
Yknow what at least its not spyro 4, this feels actually finished and not like they gave them 50 cents and 5 months to make spyro 4, it needs polish, and i like this game for what it set out to do but clearly activision was and is run by assholes who should be homeless.

The GameCube version of TWOC looks much worse than the PS2/XBOX version; The models already looked strange, the poor shading (or lack thereof) does not do this game any favors.

Crunch is one of those characters that was really cool and intimidating in his debut game, but then they absolutely shat the bed with him afterward. It's a shame, too, because he's one of my favorite Crash characters.

You played the absolute worst version of the game, but aside from that, yeah it's got problems. I wouldn't say it outright sucks though, there's a bunch of great stages throughout it

I love this game but I know I'm alone lol. Also. Toy Story 2 Buzz light-year to the rescue is AMAZING and it's by travelers tales. It's one of my favorite games of all time.
Nope you are not alone I love this game too, I really don’t understand why people hate it so much, I’ve replayed the game after playing the original trilogy games and I still find it great, the platforming is fun as hell, the controls are great, the music slaps and the vehicle stages are definitely a mixed bag but overall it still doesn’t detract from the game too much. Also you rarely see people call wrath of cortex an awful game, I’ve seen many people call it mediocre, but awful? That’s something I’ve only really seen mark say.

I remember Buzz too, I guess maybe it was just more popular in Europe. It actually survived into the PS3, the Buzz guy is actually in Playstation All-Stars as a stage hazard, but then after that he got a shit redesign in the final Buzz game

Although rushed, Crash Twinsanity was a much better example of travellers tales creative merit. Theyve never made anything outstanding but they have a lot of decent to good titles. Toy story 2 is probably their most famous. And the lego games of course! Crash Twinsanity is my favorite despite its rough edges. Id argue its the 4th best mainline game prior to the revivals. The models and designs were great, it’s more open level design is fun and does a decent job at encouraging exploration, and the acapella soundtrack is an inspired and iconic choice that very few games have attempted since.
TT created a weaker branch of devs to make Twinsanity and they're the results of that game being severely unfinished and much more unpolished than most crash games in the series. It was also the first crash game to steer the series into a very controversial direction which has tainted the series's appeal since. Most of its open levels are flat and empty and exploring them can sometimes lead you into accidently replaying sets of stages with no point of return. The game feels like a poor man's Jak & Daxter game. Cortex based humor is it's only selling point since most other things feels flat and cheap.
@@cookimaus1 Twinsanity aged better in graphics and focus more on humor so it's easy for people to gravitate more to its presentation. However in comparison to the originals it still has weaker personality due to how much it dumbed down characters and other cool elements established in the originals which was why it didn't appeal to a lot of people during its release hence it's terrible sales. Give WOC more than 12 months dev time and its presentation would've been on par with the originals, but despite its weaker graphical presentation, lots of people still recognized it as OG Crash and it sold way better than Twinsanity as a result.
I respect Traveller's Tales for at leasr making this version of WotC even if a lot is still to be wished for, but when you will consider fact how much time they had for WotC and Twinsanity developnent, they had idea and aspirations which were unfortunetely either unused or just put in game in such bad way (e.g. Of course controls in Smokey and the Bandicoot). They were a lot screwed over back in the day. But c'mon everyone, let's admit it, music in WotC is amazing. Also I like fact that Crunch was still used after TT Crash games.
Yeah I have no clue what mark and Veronica were talking about when they were saying the music was bad, I know from mark’s original review that he thought the music in woc wasn’t really that great but now it feels like he’s just calling the music bad for no reason other to shit on this game
This is the actual crash 4 lol, crash 4 it’s about time is actually the 8th mainline crash game believe it or not and I think it was a rather stupid move to retcon all of the previous crash games by calling the game crash 4

Honestly your not really missing out on much better games, I played wrath of cortex after the original crash games and I thought it was just as good as them, although the original trilogy of games are still excellent and should be tried by all platformer fans. And as for sonic heroes, I find it to be a much better game than sa2 or sa1, it still think sa1 is pretty good but sa2 is very overrated as hell.
