Our pleasure! Yes it absolutely is! I had a rough go at it in the beginning (I'm used to German Shepherds and Collies who were never crate trained). A Malinois is a whole new game, which you know!
Great job with this video! Thank you for sharing🤗 We sadly have had such a hard time with our second mal with the crate training because he keeps getting his lower jaw stuck in the wire crate but just ordered him an impact crate like his big sister has so can’t wait to get back to the crate routine when it arrives!
YOLO PUP he’s doing so much better with the new crate as he can’t get stuck in anything even if he tried 🤗... loves enjoying his meals in there and taking naps (sometimes) but at bed time it’s all screams 😭 ... we have a zero tolerance for noise at our apartment so its been difficult to crate him at night cuz we don’t want him thinking screaming = get out of crate so for now he sleeps soundly next to our older dog at our feet and it’s not ideal but the positive we take from it is he’s learned to sleep soundly all night when we say it’s bed time and not run around or get into any trouble ... he’s almost 13 weeks 🤗
@@haleyrianne Aww, so still a puppy! He'll learn. You guys are awesome doggie parents. Patience is always key. Keep at it. Lots of love from LA, Jillian & Ryka
Awesome video. Would you be able to provide a timetable of full 24hours of puppy schedule? I am picking up 8 weeks old Malinoise in 5weeks and I am overwhelmed with how many hours for puppy to sleep, how often should puppy be taking nap?, how often should puppy go potty per day? When is last water & food time of day? Etc.
I like all the videos of yours I'm from india and I'm also a youtuber. Making videos about dogs I want to import a malinois from there what will be the cost of puppy and what will be the other things to do
Thank you so much! I'll check out your channel. Thanks for watching! Very cool. We actually just sent a package to India. It depends on what type of Malinois you are looking for... fully trained? Puppy? Personal Protection?
hi. where you in South Africa? just curious about the blanket over the crate. I love your videos by the way. I am new owner of a Malinois. always had GSD
Hey there! Awesome. Congratulations!! Enjoy the ride, they grow so fast!! Yes, start training immediately. Not too many commands - just start slow with 'Sit'. This will begin to condition the idea that focusing on you, the owner, will bring many good things! (treats, toys, etc.) Happy training!
Hello, thank you for your videos they are really helpful! I just wanna ask my mal puppy is 3 months old, how much time should be on his crate? Thank you in advance!🤗☺️
cause i am a wheelchair user my backyard is tiled should i make a sectoon with artoficial grass so they can pottyy there i have full day training time in the back"yard" my daughters do a lot of running sports the10 km every dayi do hand training from my chair so mind busy what you think
How old is your puppy when you start training it, and how long does this crate train take until your puppy became used to it’s crate? Thanks in advance. I also have a 7 weeks belgian malinois.
I've always had Mals and not once have I ever crate trained them. In fact, my 14yr old Mal just passed away on 23FEB2021 and 3 days later a breeder reached out to me as their Mal had pups. I visited and have had my new boy for two weeks as of tomorrow, and he is already house/potty trained and does not destroy anything in my house. Crate training is NOT needed if you know how to train high drive doggos.
Crate Training is incredibly important and not only for keeping them out of things or potty training but what if your dog had to spend an extended amount of time at the vet. Being at the veterinarian is already stressful and being new to the crate as well just create un needed stress. My dog loves the crate so much that he will just go and lie in there with no command and it a great spot for him to go if he is feeling overwhelmed or wants to be left alone. I have 2 toddlers in my house so when he wants to avoid them he goes in his crate and they leave him alone. Crate training has so many benefits and doing it doesn't make you a bad trainer
@@daylaholleman9584 Well, I never said it makes a person bad. I simply stated that it isn't needed to properly train a dog. Also, I have had to board my dogs before and they did absolutely fine even for their first time, which was for a week. When dogs feel overwhelmed we should know how to comfort them rather than relying on a crate. Especially considering that we're responsible for the physical as well as emotional health and well-being. Do we put our kids in their rooms when they're overwhelmed? No, we comfort then because that is the responsible and sound thing to do. The same goes for our doggos.
@@anton48103 I really think it depends on the dog or kid. When the kids I work with are overwhelmed some of them go to their room and some of them look for comfort. Its up to them and their personalities. My dog loves his crate and he chooses to go in there all the time when he is overwhelmed. If I were to remove the crate and make me comfort him he probably wouldn't like it. Also boarding facilities usually keep their dogs in large kennals with lots of room. THat isn't a crate. The way you worded your sentence made it sound like anyone using a crate isn't a good owner or knows how to handle their dog which is why I got defensive. Most of the best trainers in the world use crates.
@@robin212212 That's an excellent question and as with any pup, they have to have a proper and consistent feeding cycle/training. Once they feed, I immediately take them out to relieve themselves. Doing this over and over trains them to know where to go. Now, that doesn't mean mistakes happen because they may. My youngest right now six months old and has already been trained. More importantly, crate training isn't meant to train them to use the bathroom in the crate. In fact, it is advised against to allow them to relieve themselves in the crate as they will learn that's where to go. Another took some use are what's called "pee pads", but that's also training them to go inside where you eventually move the pad closer to the exit door and eventual outside where they'll see to go. Even then, in my personal type of training, I'm consistent without the use of crates or urine pads because I don't my house smelling like a Human Society.
That is false information that you are providing. You can 100% reinforce an emotion. For example, I purposely enforce a focused emotion when my dog and I are training or protective emotion when doing protection work.
@@rysi7 Ok, I am tottally willing to learn here and I am not trying to appear rude. Could you tell me some of those studies names or point me in the direction of them?
Hah! You're dog sounds like a quitter. My Mal will cry continuously and does not stop. There are 10min rests at one hour intervals all night until at long last Bucky chews the wire to pry and muscle his way out of it scraping his face and body. They are escape artists and relentless, but yeah, cute video.
