I remember when I saw this movie in theaters and the part where we find out Hannah is Cal's daughter, the entire theater reacted soooo loudly and busted up laughing as each character arrived to the party and chaos ensued! It wasnt even a full theater but it sounded full, everyone was dying laughing!

The fight scene is definitely one of the funniest, most chaotic, and unexpected scene that I’ve ever seen in a romcom lol

As a child of divorce, my parents didn’t make their shared friends choose, but oddly enough their friends kind of chose and just decided that they couldn’t be friends with both of my parents. It was very weird. Like one of my parents would get invited to a grad party of one of their friends’ kids and the other parent wasn’t invited.

Steve Carrell is the epitome of comedic timing . That “I will kill you.” When Ryan starts laughing after the fight is great. They are so good together.

I kinda like how Jacob took Cal under his wing to teach him how to play women..and later the roles are reversed and he's learning from Cal how to be a good man

Fun fact about the dirty dancing scene: When they first did the lift, Emma Stone had a panic attack when Ryan Gosling lifted her above his head (apparently she has a fear of being lifted above 6 feet due to an accident when she was a kid when she fell off the monkey bars at school and broke both her arms), and she had to crawl into the bed and watch Labyrinth until she calmed down. Eventually they brought in a double to do the lift for her.

Tbh there's no excuse to be a cheater and if anyone wants to be with another person they should either end their relationship or discuss having an open relationship.

I know I can’t be the only woman who doesn’t like when men play these games. If a guy started talking me and didn’t tell me anything about himself, that conversation would end quickly. Being open and honest is the way to go.

I am a divorcee and me and my ex-wife share a couple of friends. We also have a couple of our own besides that. But we never made our friends feel that they had to choose. Even so, we continue to be friends and hang out all together. Me and my ex-wife are still very close (been divorced for 2,5 years now), go on weekends, vacations and other trips together (we share a son) and hang out by ourselves as well. I am very grateful to be divorced on a friendship based level. So our friends can see there is no animosity between us and no jealousy about who hangs out with one of our friends more than the other. It was never like that. And we get told a lot by other people how much they respect our way of handling it the way we do.

When you’re asking if the friends have to choose sides at 8:30, I think that divorce is a very serious issue that is best when it’s civil. A friend isn’t a real friend of they’re heinous enough to make you choose sides or simply leave you in spite of your personal issues

This movie is ACTUALLY one of the best romcoms and comedy’s. Could never get tired of it. Ryan Gosling KILLED IT with Steve. The entire cast killed it, I wouldn’t mind a second movie of this if they do it right. The cast chemistry is too great. I've always thought this movie was very underrated. It's one of my favorite rom-coms ever. I love how the whole thing comes together at the end. It's a Ryan Gosling masterclass.
