Lighting from above gives an amazing look to your portraits but in a small studio space it also creates a number of problems. In this video Gavin Hoey has some great photography and lighting tips that will help make a small studio space feel bigger.

These videos are amazing! I love how you Hoey always takes his time to demonstrate what every single light with every setup (like before and after diffusers) does to the scene. Really great work!

I really appreciate that you guy's are doing these lessons so passionately and so full of detail all for free. The difference that it's made with my own shots or skill level is huge! 10yrs ago you would of thought you could only get this kind of knowledge from a photography course at a school. My goodness, those worked out GREAT! I have never seen anyone being as good with lighting as you. Really, really great! But what I love most about your videos is you, being a very down-to-earth guy, not boasting, not sassy like sooo many other photographers on RU-vid.

I really liked the light on the pic without the small reflector on the ground, it had so much contrast. A very dramatic effect.

Gavin inspires me a lot and I learn a lot. Without very expensive gears and small studio we still can make awesome photos. I watch also a lot the other photographers on YT but their gears, lighting etc are very expensive and often too complicated lighting set up.

Nice Job! I have several of the 360 WS Streak lights they are great because they are pretty well made, light to carry around and I can change the power independently on each one from the transmitter.

I did not buy any backdrops yet and am wondering if you have any suggestions for home-made backdrops, e.g. white sheet (but then how to position it etc.).
