@@SurfacedStudio Ayep. I can think of some creators who do anime themed videos who are going to love all the hits and powerup animations in the PI preset library.
I cannot link it because RU-vid will remove my post, but if you want a reference image there is a free program called Overlay on SourceForge by Budgie Software, it makes a window that is click through and ghosting to add an image to you can zoom to fit the viewport
Nice, didn't know that existed :) You can composite onto video / images in the Premium version of Particle Illusion, but it's great to have some free options :D
Same :) I'm hoping Blender will soon implement more control over particles, but for the time being PI (and Trapcode Particular) will do the job for me :D

Question: How do you add some background/reference video to ensure that your particles don't flow out of screen or using the other pieces to make sure they bounce off walls? Is there a trick to using some reference video to line things up or is it just guessing? Thanks.
Some of the features are only available in the Premium (plug-in) version of Particle Illusion. The plugin is available for Adobe, Avid and supported OFX hosts - there's a full comparison table on the Particle Illusion website :)
One problem I'm running into is using these particles on looped live wallpapers. Do you have to fade them out and in to keep them from jumping during the loop? If so, that kind of makes PI useless for endlessly repeating live wallpapers
I don’t know any particle generator that would guarantee that particles are at the exact same position at the start of an arbitrary ‘loop’ period as at the end - you may simply have to fade them out and back in. You can try layering multiple layers of particles that fade in/out at different times to make it less obvious
To composite the particles directly onto video you need to use the Premium (Add-On) version of Particle Illusion. It integrates with Adobe, AVID or OFX host software and allows you to add particles directly onto your video :) However, that one is not free

Hello friend i am looking for suggestion and may be you can possibly create the effect that I want to learn in after effects,, The concept of the story goes like this,,, (1) The camera moves in a linear fashion horizontally from left to right With a slider. (2)There are three Sets box room with a door attach placed in between every room. (3) The room is kept open at the side facing the camera . (4) The actors now walk from one room to another through the door from left to right while talking while the camera also slide from left to right following the Actors,,, (5) The hard part is that while the actors passs from one room to another, the actors Outfit keep CHANGING as the actors leave the first room and enter the door to next room. Hi, you can either animate the particle emitter within PI to approximate the movement of your footage - and you can do that with the free version. However, if you want to composite directly onto the footage or track the movement of an object and use that as emitter for particles you will have to look into getting the Premium version of Particle Illusion - and that then also works directly within Premiere Pro, After Effects and other video editing tools :)
Hello! I've tried to command FXhome, but maybe they're too busy to answer. I think it's possibile to make Harry Potter styled Deatheater flying effect with Particle Simulation in Hitfilm. I have got very close to that, but I'm not sure what to do to get realistic moving. Can you plz make and tutorial about that?

Unfortunately it's not anywhere near that easy in Blender as Blender's particle capabilities are a bit limited. Can't wait for the animation nodes gets merged into the main branch though, that should unlock a lot of capabilities :)

hey! i've noticed that after effects has this thing where they create multiple particles of a png and i was jus wondering if there's any way to do that in boris?
I'm rather surprised that for such a capable software there's hardly any dedicated YT channels for it. Example im trying to figure out how to do the Man of Steel version of Superman's heat vision but can't find any videos on stuff like that or the Dr Strange portal effect nada. I'm absorbing all I can but have such a hard time manipulating the effects or creating them from scratch.
Particle Illusion has only become available for free as a standalone recently so unlikely any full channel would be dedicated to it (at least yet). There's lots of tutorials on Particle Illusion on the Boris FX website that teach you everything you need to know :)
@@SurfacedStudio oh really. I was under the impression it had been out for sometime. Had no idea it was recent. I've been through all the tutorials already and play with it almost daily. I've got a firm grasp on manipulating the presets with deflectors and so on but still struggle with creating what I need from scratch or morphing a preset into something new. I feel like the heat vision should be simple but I am not finding that to be the case. But regardless its still awesome software.
It's quite similar actually. Things you get with Particle Illusion: TONS (like TONS!) of presets and you can customise the looks to no end. Things you get with Trapcode Particular (latest versions): fluid dynamics, some more control over physics and noise fields. Things you lose with Particular: runs only within AE. Things you lose with the FREE Particle Illusion: doesn't render on videos / not inside AE. However, that is available with the Premium version of Particle Illusion. Premium also gives you motion tracking for particles and easy masking
link doesn't work. I just went around in circles trying to sign up download and never could get it to even download. Just kept asking for my username pswd even thoug I was signed in. Annoying
Seems to be working now - might have been a temporary glitch with the Boris FX website. Also, you could try clearing your cookies in case something got stuck for you
You need to download the 'Particle Illusion Standalone' installer. That's free. If you are downloading any of their other products then, depending on what you are downloading, it might not be free

As long as you export with an alpha channel it works no matter what OS you are on. Some video editing tools however don’t support alpha channels so it depends on where and how you use the video
@@SurfacedStudio Yes you are right. Movie Studio did not recognize the files. I got round this by loading them into and exporting from Quicktime Pro as PNG images which MS can import as a movie with alpha. Thanks.

Surfaced Studio oh my other reason was that I want a blender 2.83 particle tutorial is cause I like to shoot handheld and I want 3D particles I’d be very thankful for a blender tutorial :)
Try ASIO as drivers for your sound card. When I had it on mme premiere kept my sound card busy and could not use it with other programs. (Assuming you use windows machine)
