Get a tiny croc pot for bending styrene and other thermo plastics. You'll want to boil the water first before putting it in (with kettle or microwave) and the croc pot will keep it hot so you can keep submerging/dunking the water. I also use this trick when removing resin support!

I must ask though: This is the first time I have ever heard a fire extinguisher called a fire hydrant, is there a regional dialect thing going on here that I am unaware of? I use a heat gun on low and a piece of metal tubing to bend my plastics. There is some trial and error but once you get it into the sweet spot it becomes super easy.

While I can't attest to plastics being microwaved being terribly harmful (it depends on the type, some are fine for it) one similar bit of advice for chat as much as anyone is NEVER put anything with superglue on it in the microwave or especially oven. Cyanoacrylate glue when heated enough produces a form of cyanide gas, which if the word cyanide didn't twig is extremely deadly as well as being both colourless and mostly odourless to boot.

I love the job on the base!!! Makes the whole figure really become "alive". Keep up the good work. Bending plastic cardstock: Wrap the piece around the correct size of PVC pipe, then hit it with a hot air gun. This also works well for forming thin sheets of craft foam. Rivets: Don't pay for model RR stuff!!! I fell in love with nail rhinestones, they come in so many different sizes and you can get hundreds for a buck.

The OG scale modeler’s method for forming styrene is to secure it to the form using rubber bands and dunk in a bowl or pan of just-boiled water.

It's a bit pricey, but I've seen "hot air guns" for soldering that have a really tiny nozzle, temp control and even auto on/off when you pick it up, great for heat shrink would probably be perfect for tiny styrene.

Bending styrene - maybe bend it to final shape before gluing the layers so that the layering supports the bend? (like a bent wood lamination)

With bending styrene to make a rounded shape, could you mold it around a bit of PVC pipe as you use the hair dryer? It might mold to the shape a little easier/better. Just means you’ll need a thousand different widths of piping for it. Genuinely have no idea if that’ll work

I hope you see this @Miniac, put a sheet of baking paper between the styrene and the tape, then use a heat gun to heat it up. After it cools it should hold it's shape much better.

To scale down and print things like the sun glasses upload the STL into chitubox and after sizing it select the scale function and increase the axis you wish to scale a few percentage points and it will add the durability you lose from down scaling. Also print more than what you need, I will usually print about 5 extra tiny pieces in case this happens.

Great work! I love the color composition with the yellow of the base and the blue of the miniature. I especially like the base and the weathering. I didn't know that it works that well when applied with a brush. I am going to try that. considering other games I would absolutely love to see some well apinted Scavs from Escape from Tarkov or some spaciships from Star Citizen.

as for bending the styrene, instead of hand bending over the heat gun just rest the fence on the plinth (or whatever shape you want it to bend around) and hit it with a heat gun, it wont loose the shape because there is no tape and still gets a smooth curve. Edit: if the styrene is too light and wants to blow away, just tape down one side and start heating from that edge across.... as for my main... from day 1, Bloodhound.

To prevent the tape from un-curving your styrene you could have put the tape on sticky-side-out. Still would have held it in place.

you can just mash the sunglasses directly onto the model digitally? you had it done when checking the scaling! depending on orientation you wouldn't even need to fuss with supports for it.

Maybe try an actual heat gun instead of a hair dryer. You can get the plastic hotter and it will move easier to shape. Maybe a metal pipe the right diameter would work as a form to bend what you were trying for here.

just like you made the flag pole, add hollow tube to solid rod but leave a lil bit of a cup at the tip using the hollow part. get a tiny bit of beeswax in that cup and you have yourself a really good rivet tool. superglue wont stick to the wax and the wax it self has the perfect "sticky" to grab the rivet firmly but also let it go easily if you apply it o a surface.

First off I cant stand Apex legends as I keep getting beat up, the chipping is the tip I'm definitely going to be using as it's been that one thing that has made me go grrr.
