This tutorial is going to show you how to use a program called TES5EDIT to fool the Creation Kit into thinking that your mod's esp file is actually an ESM file. This allows you to use your mod as a base to create a patched esp.
In the case of this tutorial, I will be using the method to create a patch that points toward Insanity's Unique Uniques mod for the display cases in Caranthir Tower Reborn.
You can use this trick for other uses like making another author's mod a requirement for your own without actually uploading their assets and breaking Nexus rules. Of course, you could also get permissions from the author to just incorporate the files in your mod, but that's not always an option.

I've always been hesitant to do any heavy modding in Skyrim and Fallout. Your videos are certainly helping to alleviate that. Thanks for the well done videos. You earned a new subscriber.

Thanks for the info. I did not know how to do this in xedit. For Wrye Bash users you can also make a file a master and then back to an esp by right clicking the file and picking esmify (spelling?) from the list.

Hi Darkfox, first of all thanks for all of your videos about mod creation they have quite literally brought my mods from ideas for reality. This video is very helpful but i am basically trying to make my Dawnstar conversion mod: Dawnstar - The Pale Capital compatible with a mod i hope yopu are familiar with Beyond Skyrim: Wares of tamriel by moving a ship added by Wares of tamriel so it sits next in my harbour as opposed to the vanilla harbour. I seem to be doing everything correctly, but when I load both mods together there is either the ship in both locations or the vanilla location. Any pointers here would be greatly appreciated, Thankyou!

Would you happen to have a video discussing how to fix game breaking bugs that seem to occur over time from mods? I'm having a problem such as that right now. 1, Attempting to enter the world map within interiors causes the game to crash. 2, Turning into a werewolf just once causes me to not be able to wear armor or any sort of clothing at all. How would I go about fixing that? My Skyrim has never done that before and I've been modding it for a long time so it's just now happening.

I can only help you in theory, because everyone has different problems and solutions depending on their load order. You need to find the mods that are responsible for the bugs before doing anything. Have you installed any mods that edits the world map in any way? Do you have mods that affect the Werewolf form? If you have mods like that and they conflict with other mods, then you might get the kinds of bugs you have, but haven't heard of or encountered them myself. I don't think there is a fix other than disabling the mods, or going back to a save before the bugs occured, unless it's a load order issue.

It really is nice to see someone staying touch with the community. It is always sad when a channel gets too popular to be able to see to responding to questions and comments, or even just reading most of them. But being an active member and staying in touch is one of the most important things in the content creation world, no matter if it's mods or videos; the second is having a pleasant, thoughtful community, but that tends to come with good channels and good content. It seems that the youtubers I enjoy the most are the ones with the best fans/communities. Anyways, I wish unto you good will!

RogueArrow17 I try to reply to comments on recent videos now and answer questions through my contact form. Actually gets very tricky to respond to every comment once you compile a fair amount of videos. Managed to hit 4000 subs, so I made a special video. Thanks for the support.

I'm sorry but I've watched this vid 3x now and it still goes over my head. It seems like you start off with how to make a patch but then it goes to: "but if you use this or that then do this". It's confusing to a noob like me. I'm wanting to make a patch for a mannequin mod I use because it's not Hearthfire compatible: www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/18689/?

Well im Totaly New at creation Kit got it 4 days ago I made Follower and i have it in game its working but how to upload it ? like vanilla NPC follower , In ure vids u show only Mod of House or weapons , i dont know how to find Npc file or what to do with it to upload, i can add in game thats all

Its a good video but i had to watch 4 times because you move so fast and do things so quickly i had an issue keeping up or understanding why you were doing what you were doing. Im still very new to modding.

Why are you using the CK to make a patch when you could have done it in 5 min by only using TES5Edit? You just need an esp with new paths for the weapon models you want to replace. It doesn't even need masters if the cabinet is a vanilla asset. Not very intuitive. I realize this was long ago and things might have changed but a master doesn't need to be an esm if you add it as master in TES5Edit. You only need to load your mods in TES5Edit and copy the stuff you need as override into a new esp. Then you can edit to your heart's content. Might need a tutorial on that, but once you learn it's much easier than using the clumsy CK.
