@@FreyofKtau Some species can be immune if their brains are different enough. Maybe a Toidarian Jedi could convince Watto due to them being the same species, or perhaps Toidarians have a natural resistance to mental manipulation due to their business-oriented mindset.
I'm looking for the clip where they edited it like this. "I've got republic tactarevs" "Republic Credits?" "Tactarevs." "Republic credits are no good around here." "I have 10,000 republic tactarevs" "Credits?" "Taaactaaaarrreevvvs"
Players when they had to pay to play as heroes in Battlefront II- EA/DICE: "Credits will do fine." Players: "No. They won’t." EA/DICE: "Credits WILL do fine." Players: "No. THEY WON'T!"
Seriously, I knew that there were species immune to the force altogether if not to a certain limitation but I always assumed that the reason the mind trick didn't work on him was because his mind was so greedy that the it made him a little too strong minded for the mind trick, same assumption with jabba except his mind was just to strong for it altogether like padme or cadbane
And then Qui-Gon, realising he was happy to try and steal from Watto with worthless money, simply bust into the junkyard that night and stole the parts directly.
-No money, no parts, no deal -And how about I take my lightsaber and cut your stupid thing off, then take the parts for free, that do you say then? -...credits will do fine
No!They wont-a!What?You think your some kind of jedi waving your hand around like that?Mind tricks dont work on-a me,only money! No money,no parts,no deal.
One problem I have with this is Watto is an avid podrace fan and they have podraces all over the galaxy. Wouldn't it make sense then that he would travel to a planet that IS part of the Republic and would have credits on hand for spending?
It's fair to assume that while podracing *does* take place all over the galaxy it's only the wealthy and well-supported racers who can afford to travel to different planets to race. Others, like poor locals, only enter their local races and try to win the prize money. Watto isn't interested in neither the pod racing itself nor who wins as long as he can win money from betting. Watto is a junk dealer and slave owner. I very much doubt podracing is anything more than some extra money on the side for him. For starters he doesn't build or maintain podracers himself and Anakin built his *own* . The last one which Anakin crashed was probably won from somebody who lost a bet. Moreover he hasn't hired a famous pod racer, has no team of mechanics or speaks highly of his "pod racing business". He allows Anakin to race because it costs him little and he is assessing Anakin's talent. He still doubts Anakin will ever be more than a "fast human racer but never a winner" and even bets on Sebulba to win. Moreover both the pod racing and betting is organized by the Hutts on Tattooine and that probably means that Watto and other locals in cahoots with them can get a "fine deal/decent cut" with a few race fixes or two. There is no reason for Watto to travel to other planets when he does well on Tatooine. Tattooine is also remote and desolate so traveling anywhere isn't cheap or easy. Watto may be a minor "big shot" in Mos Espaa but on planets part of the Republic he is nothing but a sneaky outlander and probably would get arrested for daring to bet illegally or do whatever is condoned and accepted on Tattooine.
Unfortunately for them this also means that they eventually paint themselves into a corner and are royally scr*wed. Especially when they have abused the faith of others for too long.
you know the part when they decide whether the boy or the mother gets to be free with the dice, red for mother blue for boy.. he had no problem cheating using the force to make it land on blue.. why wouldn't he just say blue you give us the ship part for free and we leave forget about the pod race.. red you get the ship and pod racer.. lol these Jedi aren't so smart
Because that would have been too big a risk for Watto. Like Watto said, it probably would have been cheaper to get a new ship for Qui Gon. The T-14 was not cheap, so to take a 50/50 shot like that would have been a stupid thing to do. To take a 3 to 3 odds shot for a bet that would have had Anakin facing a technical 17 to 1 challenge was the smarter thing to do because the odds of them winning based on contestant number alone was approximately 5.5556%.
or more easily, just found someone else on the planet who had money and wasn't immune to mind tricks, then fool that person into exchanging the money, then using it to pay watto
Too bad Luke wasn't on that bridge when Kylo Ren killed Han. He could've used an old Jedi mind trick and made Kylo change his mind. Like Ben did with the stormtroopers at Mos Eisley.
I suspect it might be similar to the Deutschmark in soviet regions or in this case rather the other way around. It might be possible to exchange, but its practically worthless. Mind, that doesnt mean that having high numbers in a currency makes it a bad currency, for instance, 1 million paraguayan guarani are only about 130USD, thats fine as theres no insane inflation or a closed off economy anything of that sort going on. Still cant beat real money, aka gold, silver and the like.
Watto - Overworked underpaid employees: How are you going to pay? Qui-Gon Jinn - Managers: Pizza party will do fine Watto - Overworked underpaid employees: No pizza party don't work on me. Only money
Don't they have money exchange or something like that? I know it's a Hutt Space, but they probably still do some business with people from Republic. Or Qui-Gon could just mind trick somebody else and take whatever currency is needed lol.
Watto was brave talking to a Jedi like that, if it was me i would just ''show him'' my lightsaber. (That is not a homosexual joke guys - don't take it that way. Seriously. I mean it...
qui gon was terrible.. was exhausted in his first round with maul after a minute.. no surprise what happened in the 2nd match with maul… couldnt even use a jedi trick properly.. some jedi master.. lol
But Qui Gon was the one who leanred the force ghost trick and shared it with yoda and obi wan. The jedi mind trick didn't work because he was immune like Jabba the Hut.
