This made me cry. Him saying " where your going has gotta be better than where you been." If apollo never gave rocky that title shot he could have ended up like spider rico.
this scene reminds me of what Jim Carrey said, "The only difference between him and someone living on the street is that he got lucky." Funny how the "real winners" in life know how close they are to their counterparts: the losers...but the Paris Hiltons, Jonah Hills, Kardashians & Donald Trumps of society know nothing cuz they never really suffered or worked a day in their over-privileged lives. Life is so fucked up that way. This scene should have definitely been included in the movie...period
@@francisbottoni6470 no, because in the end, the message of this scene is that the figther class will always be forgotten except by those they trailblazed with. But that sincerely has been said and ran home with MANY times on this franchise, making it pointless to include that clip. It's a beautiful clip tho..
The fact that Rocky looked after him is what makes this scene more emotional No one barely came to his funeral and Rocky was There no matter what I pray that at least one friend shows up to my funeral one day just like him

Seeing how very few people came to Spider's funeral made this scene even more depressing. The guy deserved a better life than the hand he was dealt with.
Not only that, but when you realize all the people that came to his funeral were from the restaurant... Sad, but then also I thought, well, at least they cared about him enough to be there. He was mourned, maybe not by millions, but by the people that knew him.
The fact that Rocky no matter what remembers spider rico and the fact that he’s a no namer shows you that no matter what all the fame all the glory rocky at heart is still human....
yeah he basically took care of Rico in Rocky 6. Rocky knew he had nowhere to go so he just allowed him to work in the restaurant. At first he didnt even want Spider to pay and wants him to eat for free because he is Rocky's guest, but Spider is honorable enough to help ihe restaurant. Father Carmine also died of old age, so Spider took the role of the one blessing Rocky before his last fight.
Rocky is such an honorable man. So sad to watch him check off all the important people in his life just wither away. He will be the last person to pass minus, creed and his son.

The older you get, the more people you lose. It hurts when people you've known for most of your life begin to pass away. Old friends and relatives leaving this world behind and you have to keep moving on without them. Little parts of you seem to leave with them, leaving behind a husk of the person you once were. _"You, me, or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life."_

I wish they had left it in although I understand why they removed it. I do feel they could have shrunk it down and still left it in. As it is here, it definitely does drag on a bit as powerful as it is.
Yea coming from a man at 42.Me and my dad watched these movies together,with my mom.Adrian was like my mom,my moms rock.We take a lot of low blows and move on……
The fact that the music was the same as the older movies.....THAT is what does it for me everytime. I dont know why...but it bring out not just the wisdom....but also the pain and sadness in Slys voice. It just grabs your heart and squeezes it causing that lump you feel in your throat where if u swallow...the dam breaks and tears come flowing out like a flood. THAT is what makes Sly TIMELESS!!!!
"I remember you saying that you had this daughter, but you couldn't remember where she lived because of all the shots you taken, so me and the cooks became like your family." That line was absolutely heartbreaking. It makes it even worse that there were only about 4-5 people at his funeral

Rocky is a story of time that we all will go through, we live our life surrounded with loved ones, every day we fight a new battle until we wake up one day to find ourselves all alone and the world has forgotten about us. Sad but true 😔😔
@@ace9924 I always felt like Rocky Jr had to move out west for his wife and job, and Rocky of course wasn’t gonna move, so that caused the split more than anything. Especially after 6 made it seem like they patched up lingering resentment
Shame this scene had to be cut. Spider was a much loved minor character from the Rocky universe. The scene also gave insight of the the humanity of the Rocky story timeline that appeals to generations of fans from the 1970's to present day. A mistake to leave out this scene.
My guess is that it was cut because of runtime or because it takes away the focus of Adonis' plot and his fight with Drago's son. It feels like it belongs to a Rocky movie but Rocky has now the mentor role like Mick did.
"You're my last friend from the old days" DUuuuuude that music cue almost always played whenever an emotional scene happened in the franchise. I forgot all of them but it happens specifically when he is remembering someone from the past. In Rocky V, it played when remembering Mick. In Rocky Balboa, it played when remembering Adrian. I might just rewatch the first 4 just to see where else it was used.
Was used in Rocky II when Adrian was in coma and Rocky and Mickey was in Church praying by her recovery. Also plays in Rocky III when Mickey dies after Rocky's defeat by Clubber Lang.
its so sad just seeing 3-4 people at his funeral not knowing spider rico its just sad but very touching and they should have kept it in it would explain why they trained in the desert.

I always cry at scenes like this because they are so touching and moving. People can call me whatever they want but these films are my childhood and it's something I will cherish for the rest of my life. Even when I grow old.
Same brotha. Watching the rocky series was a childhood pass time for me. Main ones were 1-2 and 4 then I eventually got 3. 5 eh lol. But when 6 came out I went to the midnight showing. Creed 1 and 2 are just as loved by me as the rocky movies. Beautiful series.
In the age of reboots, very few roles can never be duplicated. Stallone is Rocky Balboa. When he does that character, it’s like we all know him, not as a movie character but as someone we know from the neighborhood. This scene is a fantastic example of how Stallone just gives us iconic lines without even trying. How many great thought provoking lines has this franchise given us?
I see some people saying that not having Stallone return as Rocky in Creed III is the right decision. And while I understand some points being made, I feel that it's a missed opportunity to give Rocky Balboa an ultimate send-off. Here's my pitch: "In Creed III, Rocky's health deteriorates and has a heart attack that leaves him bedridden in the hospital. Knowing he has little time left, Rocky decides to leave everything to his son, wishing for him to do with it as he sees fit and tells him that both he and his mother were the best parts of his life. Against the hospital's advice, Rocky signs out and gets Donnie to take him to the steps of the Philadelphia Museum of Art to make one final climb to the top, despite how difficult it is for him. There, both he and Donnie sit as the sun sets in the background. Rocky dies and Donnie mourns his passing, whispering that he will see him on the other side some day." You can place this kind of scene anywhere in the film. At the end, at the middle, or in the 3rd act before the big fight. But I feel that this is the last thing that the character of Rocky has to offer, 'his death'. After all, he's pretty much the last of the old school left to go.
I feel like there is genuine emotion in his words to Spider. As though he's (Stallone, not Rocky) speaking about an era of his own life that has come and gone, leaving only the memories to sort through as the people he knew become less and less abundant on this Earth. The pain in his face is real, and it's one that any of us who live long enough will experience.
Reminds me of when Mick told him about little by little we lose our friends until one day we get to thinking, "you know...what the hell am I doing living around here for?"
Before rocky even said it I also thought, man spider rico was the last one still around from the old days and even hes gone now. Poor rocky outlived em all. Almost makes me wonder if its better to die a little earlier and still be surrounded by your friends and family than to outlive them all and die alone.

How Stallone didn’t win an Oscar for Creed, man. The way he inhabits Rocky so completely as a character, agigng him the same as he himself has aged in real life - a master class in acting. I hope he gets an Oscar before his career comes to an end. Such a class-A actor. Rocky is deservedly one of the greatest characters of cinematic history.
Even if you aren't a boxer or fighter, this is still sad for men, for humans in general. I'm still young, but I look forward to being old, just not the part where I see my mentors pass away in droves and my peers passing from health complications and accidents
Yeah he only had a small role in Rocky 1 and Rocky 6... I think he could have made an appearance in Rocky 3 as a sparring partner since Rocky was training for an aggressive Clubber Lang.
Man can this guy write. I mean it's like when Mickey was talking to him and says you know as we get older we start losing more and more of our friends and we keep losing. It's a privilege to have lived for as long as we can saying goodbye to friends is the hard part.
Man almost every deleted scenes from Creed are so emotional and deserve recognition. This has to be in the top, especially for Rocky fans since we remember Spider very well despite how little he was in the show.
It may sound silly because this is just a movie scene, but this is true. Life gives you a lot of cheap shots and low blows. I teared up hearing this, death is a very powerful thing no matter what. I’m glad they played original music and I wish this had been in the movie. I’m sad for Rock.
Very intense scene, especially when Rocky looks around and only sees a few people there, not many people showed up for Spiders funeral shows how many people Rocky seen come and go in his life
Rocky has lost everyone… paulie , adrian , apollo , mickey and now spider rico and his son… now *Rocky* is the only one, who is alive with Creed‘s Son.
Hits you right in the gut. Not many people are there to visit Spider rico. Rocky paid for his funeral himself because nobody claimed him... Rocky was AWESOME......
There are so many deleted scenes throughout this series I wish would’ve made it into the final movies… this scene here would’ve meant a lot to us long time fans!
I'm from Philly, now living in Phoenix. BUT, I return home twice a year, my folks and a lot of my family still lives in Philly and close by. My mother 86, my dad is 92. I must be the only 65 year old with both parents alive, yet somewhat fragile. These movies all have heart, I dare say even Rocky V does. I watch these movies and they always bring me home even when I am in Phoenix. And, I do have to say, that these movies, and perhaps having lived in Philadelphia, has kept me in the shape I am. I have always worked out and even at 65 years old I am still in shape. Health and emotional connection to where you were born, who you are, and who others are and why we should care about them is so important. Cheers.

The worst part about being young and seeing icons in their prime when you're a little kid is that wow factor never disappears when you grow up. You still remember Rocky, Spider and Apollo when your parents and your aunts and uncles and grandparents are telling you all about these characters they loved since before you were born. That magic doesn't disappear even when the actors who brought that magic to life get old and sometimes they can't bring that same magic anymore before they disappear. It hurts a lot more when they still do have that power up until the bitter end. Thanks for everything, Carl. Rest in power.
Its only one franchise where i have seen continuity of life right from Rocky 1973 till present....One of the most life moving stories....this will be remembered always....what beautiful charcters right from the beginnign...Adrian, Rocky, Paulie, Appllo, coach
this always makes me tear up because Rocky has tried so hard tokeep his emotions buried. it shows how human he is. I never saw my father cry once until grandpa and grandma passed on from old age, he broke down during his speech at grandmas funeral service and the first time seeing him cry? He tried so hard to mask his emotional pain but he stepped down and my mom finished his speech for him. Dad introduced me to the rocky movies when I was a kid, little did i know back then that he struggled with alcohol, he never was abusive or lashed out in anger when having a few beers. but i still remember to this day when i got into drinking, and a friend and i were watching the rocky movies in my room and we were socially drinking(way before the rocky balboa movie of course or the creed movies. and i was drunk and my dad came in my room because he heard we were watching rocky 2 and he went on and on as we were watching... and i told him to shut up that we were trying to watch the movie and i still remember to this day how rejected his face was.... then my drinking progressed to the point of downing straight vodka, and mom and dad tried hard to have hope... Dad and I went to see Rocky Balboa in theaters, his treat, to try and show me there was more in life then booze, i remember when we both were cheering when rocky was beating the crap out dixon the current champ, everyone was in the theater lol. But I loved how rocky did not win due to split decision but he was able to walk away with his pride knowing even though he lost, he still had heart to fight one more time. now? i watch rocky when drinking and i can see how my dad was huge into the rocky movies. i hope someone i can ask his and moms forgiveness for my recklessness when i was blacked out drunk and attacked dad.... so if anyone reads this? please pray for me to seek forgiveness because i have not seen my parents since 2016, they moved away, mom made sure i was not able to message her on facebook, so i pray for help before.... they pass away.... my other grandma passed away while i was not around back in 2019. Found out she died from cancer and i was so distraught because i was hoping to see her again someday, but then... in the afterlife I will see her again.
Rocky and Spider Rico were in the very first scene of the entire movie series, which was also the first boxing scene. I get it why this was not in Creed 2, but it's great nostalgia for fans of the Rocky films.
Given Rocky’s arc with his family throughout the first two creed movies apart of me thinks that right before giving Spider a eulogy of sorts he looked around and thought that this might be what happens once he’s gone.
Rocky was the first movie I watched in a movie theater when I was 5 years old, and I've watched etched every movie in the series since....I would not have deleted this scene.
Honorable men's in this world are never to been seen and Rocky represents them here in this movie. I am just like Rocky and the good people see it saying you are like Rocky and then I smile 😄 but the people who only have greed lust and who take things for granted don't care they keep humiliating and always want to be on top and stand on other people.. Thanks Sylvester for representing us in the movie as the Rocky character 💪🏽
