Liberation Theology and new "Christologies" are making their way through Christianity and to the doorstep of the Latter-day Saints. It's happening at the personal, family, and ward levels. Social Justice through its religious arm, changes the Doctrine of Christ to a political figure, an oppressed Jesus, and a "Liberator" Messiah of a group in place of a spiritual "Savior" for every individual. As CRT permeates our language and our society, we can better understand this pernicious ideology by looking at its Christian "doctrine", its Christology. This is how Critical Race Theory is spreading so quickly through Christianity and how it is beginning to show up at your chapel.

Now do not let this serve as an excuse for your own wrongdoing. The Lord is letting the wheat and the tares mature before he fully purges the Church. Wow, it always gets deeper. When George Floyd died I became a die-hard BLM activist. After a few months, I felt something was very wrong in my life. I hadn’t been reading the scriptures or praying, so I began. As I read the Book of Mormon, it became so clear to me that what I was doing and believing clearly wasn’t lining up with doctrine. I started getting curious about what exactly we were dealing with here. Why were soooo many people adopting this, even in the church? As I looked into it, it just kept going and going and going! It was like a rabbit hole. I learned about victimhood and socialism, communism and Marx, postmodernism and anti-racism, critical race theory and other critical theories and on and on. And now another underlying layer: liberation theory. I guess it makes sense that all along it was about Christ.

Your comment gives me hope that people who have supported BLM wholeheartedly are capable of abandoning it as much as they first supported it. I can't count people who are diehard BLM followers as a lost cause. Everyone can learn more and see the error of their ways. God bless.

Thanks for the comments and support, you guys! Yes, I believe a lot of people who support BLM aren't "lost causes". Some don't know what they're supporting exactly, some have "debris" in their lives as President Nelson talked about in his welcome address in April general conference. I find when there is bitterness, anger, unwillingness to forgive...then these people may be more likely to support the movement. I TRY really hard to remind myself that love, patience and my example will do more to bring people to Christ than anything else. And when someone is drawing closer and closer to Christ, "the philosophies of men" become easier to separate out from truth.

When I explain to my children modern philosophies such as CRT and other ideas being crammed down our collective throat, I remind them that, quite literally, the most sacred gift in existence is agency. All stop. Imagine what Heavenly Father was willing to do to ensure we had agency. He was willing to allow the most horrific and terrible things to occur on earth, without interceding, because agency trumps everything. And every bit of so-called social justice and post modern philosophy is anti-agency. We should absolutely give freely and help those in need. Vigorously. But when done at gun point it quite literally becomes simply an extension of Lucifer’s plan.

We had more harmony between races in America when we shared the culture of the country and focused on what we had in common instead of differences. If you mean the shared culture of the country to be American Indian then I agree with you. I don't believe though as colonials and today that we have done a good job with sharing culture. I appreciate how you break down the distinctions between Liberation Theology and Salvation Theology. There never was an "us vs them" thing occurring. That had more to do with a small fraction of a bigger movement (name the movement). The fraction that was controlled by the press, mainly. We miss a lot of the great things that were going on IN SPITE of said movements. It's actually amazing that we accomplished so much, as a people, (of all backgrounds) while these movements were occurring. We must understand that, if Christ was a "liberation theologian" then he HAD to be, by definition, a respecter of persons. Which he wasn't when he came the first time, nor is he now. We MUST learn to Hear Him AND to EXPERIENCE him. My own experiences help me understand why Joseph Smith was an anomaly within his own circle of friends. Some who even shared those experiences walked away for selfish reasons. Just yesterday, I mentioned in Sunday School that many members of the church don't think they have anything to repent of. The whole class laughed. Not in a mocking way, but in a way that said that they knew they needed repentance. But (in the same setting) someone had a bad relationship with a family member because they both wanted THEIR way to be RIGHT. There was no discussion of being in the wrong at all. Not that they were wrong on the point, but wrong on the intention and enforcement of their "right" position. I don't know if I am stating this correctly, but our relationships can be healed through repentance. It's these same relationships that are ripping our country apart right now. But the people don't seem to think it's an important thing to seek forgiveness for. smh. That was a bit long winded, but I hope someone reads this who needs it. I know you're broken hearts can be healed. That your love can be made manifest...as soon as you "make a way" to Christ. Thank you.

BYU, (all campuses), was established by the church under the direction of Jesus Christ. The motto and scripture that are set in stone at the entrance of (at least) BYU Provo, are, “ Enter To Learn, Go Forth To Serve”, and “ The Glory Of God Is Intelligence”. BYU is very heavily supported by the SACRED tithing dollars sacrificed by the Saints. It would not exist without these funds.The mission of BYU is to further the knowledge of, and increase testimonies of the truthfulness of the gospel of Jesus Christ. Secondly, it is to provide education and skills to our youth so that they can support themselves and their families and increase the talents that the Lord has given them.Thereby BYU furthers the Lord’s work by strengthening individuals, families, and wards. The brethren are above the school administration, and they take both the mission of BYU and the students entrusted to BYU very seriously. We must bring to their attention the faculty members who are teaching these Marxist, conspiratorial lies. Parents try so hard to help their children build testimonies of Jesus Christ. Many hope to send them to BYU where they can be apart from much of the wickedness that is rampant on other college campuses. These parents have every right to demand that their student is taught truth. How ironic it is that these kids are coming back home indoctrinated in Satan’s theology! There should be new classes developed and required for every student, one teaching the history of America’s wars. The Civil War, and how throughout the history of the world (and slavery has always been found in every civilization) America has been the ONLY nation to fight a war to free slaves. Other things, most young people know nothing about is Stalin and the 10’s of millions of Russian citizens he killed, or Mao, and his 100 million. They don’t know the history of slavery, or the origins of antifa (1932 Germany, and after WWII, they became Communist East Germany’s ruthless Stasi ). They don’t know critical race theory has bounced around since the 1960’s as a front to camouflage socialist ( Satanic) ideals aimed at destroying families and destabilizing democracy. This gaping hole in education is being filled at lightening speed with lies spread by the same types of anti-Christs that we read about in the Bible, and we are SPECIFICALLY warned about in the Book of Mormon. Every member, with or without a BYU student, will be affected by this, because these are, if they don’t fall away from the gospel, ( as nearly half of our young people are) are the future Bishops, teachers and leaders in our church. So we must all raise our voices and make sure the Brethren and BYU’s President(s) and administration take urgent and drastic action. This is a testing time for the survival of “The Title of Liberty”. It’s our turn, it all rests on our shoulders, we cannot fail!

I've enjoyed Jonathan Haidt, as he explores three great untruths that are prevalent on college campuses. 1-) What doesn't kill you makes you weaker; 2-) Always trust your feelings; and 3-) The world is made up of good people and bad people. Each of these untruths is instilled in the belief system of critical theory, intersectionality, and feminism. I don't fault anyone for believing in these untruths, as they sound empathetic and compassionate. Yet, they result in a truth that we often blind ourselves to--the best of intentions can lead to the greatest harm. I truly enjoy listening to these videos, as they provide my overly active brain a way to reflect on the gospel in relation to this world, and cause me to think on what I can do to further my understanding of the doctrine of Christ.

It's so very important and the Prophets and Apostels have continually encouraged and entreated us to study the Scriptures and the Gospel ourselves. We cannot expect to be spoon fed. We need to and are told to search out the truths of the Gospel through scripture study, reading past talks, studying history itself teaches us amazing thing. Study and read from all good books as Joseph Smith taught. Of course prayer is an essential part of studying. We need to know for ourselves whether something is true or not. With this last general conference we were again told to study things for ourselves and not expect the Prophets to (in my words) spoon fed us every step of the way. We are the ones who builds on our personal testimony or not. We decided if we are to be wheat or tares.

..victimhood and blame are traits that were typical of unenlightened Lamanite generations in the Book of Mormon. Australia and New Zealand are currently facing an indigenous backlash, which is gathering momentum as academia and perceived social injustices, provide answers to the ills faced in democracies, in a South Pacific Pacific context. It would be interesting to see whether the saints in the other Southern Pacific Islands would fall prey to the current narrative of decolonization and liberation theology. She seems to be a leader of a group of people who feel the need to correct and fix the Church, and recognize they can spread their "questions" and undermine the faith of those who aren't well equipped to recognize their strategy. The disbelieve virtuall all of the structure and organization of the Church and official doctrine, and yet keep their membership and regularly express their dissatisfaction.

Opens up the teachings to all so as women or men they can discuss what was taught and be able to share ones thoughts or ask questions from others in the family. We are teaching more in the family because I believe it's going to be more home based because of the times we are living in.

the part about critical race theory being all about the needs and benefits of the group collectively, reminds me about the gospel teaching of how salvation is an individual matter, but exaltation is a family (collective) matter. Is it possible that those who are pushing CRT are doing so believing that it is the exaltation level ideology of human culture? obviously even if that was their belief it would be putting the cart before the horse, because those to whom they are attributing the most holy of virtues and most innocent of intentions, are most often those whom are furthest from salvation, spiritually. However, is it possible that this is the justifying perspective that those pushing CRT have, and that is why they believe it to be a good and beneficial ideology/movement? If this is the case it seems it is an entitlement issue, where they believe they are due the glory and reward without going through the necessary prerequisite steps of repentance unto salvation. and because they are skipping a step they are unable to seek after the exaltation level unity with the proper perspective and love and harmony which it is meant to be viewed. In a way it is a move to steal the throne/glory of God. and is in perfect alignment with the plan of the adversary even from the foundations of creation, in that it takes a generally good or worthwhile idea, and turns it into something damaging and detrimental to all it touches, because of the improper manner it's implemented and unholy attitude towards it.

I really enjoyed this segment. However, something you stated near the end reminded me of something that has been bothering me for some time now. You stated, "We need to focus on more of an outreach…That’s part of the problem. We are asked to gather Israel… This is about doing what we should have been doing but not acquiesce in any way to this pernicious doctrine. We need to gather Israel. We need to love our brothers and sisters of all races and all backgrounds and all cultures.” What has really been driving me up the wall lately is “gathering Israel” isn’t all of a sudden, a new concept and Commandment when President Nelson became our Prophet. We’ve been “gathering Israel” since the beginning with the Prophet Joseph. Families, individuals and the Church as a whole have sacrificed so much to take the Gospel to the islands of the sea, to the Asian, African, and Latin countries and to so many more. Everyone is acting like this is something new and that we all of a sudden have, among the rank-and-file members, some kind of massive racist tendency and hatred for other races and cultures. For the last couple of General Conferences, members have been “called out” for this supposed racism. Why now? Wouldn’t this have been apparent for a few decades? Where’s the bona fide proof of racism within the Church? In my 40+ years since being cognizant of racism, I have NEVER witnessed any disgusting acts of racism against my non-white brothers and sisters. I can only conclude alternate possibilities - 1. Racism has begun to permeate among the younger generations. 2. Racism has been redefined and everyone is falling for this redefinition (including Church leaders). 3. Racism is the new buzzword (which it really isn’t) and everyone is anxious to get on the bandwagon to “appear” like they really care. Whatever the case, to equate some apparent lack of Gathering Israel with racism simply isn't right.

It is the Black Live Matter movement. For all its flaws, it heightens awareness. In addition, like the talk from Pres Benson on the Book of Mormon in the 80's, we are to focus on this more than before. It's not like the B of M wasn't there since 1830, it is another layer for a now more prepared church. I see it the same way. Fair Mormon can produce as many videos addressing this as they like and start tomorrow, but it's like shadow boxing. I do disagree with you about white Latter Day Saints not "doing their parts or not taking care of business" (I'm paraphrasing), and contributing to the problem, ie racism and white supremacy in the Church. I think the fertile soil that grows this kind of philosophy is in the self-loathing and self flagellating Western European societies that seeks redemption, but instead gets more distain heaped upon them. "Seek this Jesus" is a phrase unique to Moroni's writing in the Book of Mormon, so it baffles me that you characterize the Maxwell Institute's choice of language as "not what you would usually hear in Latter-day Saint vernacular." There's no need to choose between the two, as they are not incompatible.

I disagree. Though Moroni certainly states this, his words are sparingly repeated in the Church. "Though Moroni certainly states this, his words are sparingly repeated in the Church." Granting this premise, the phrase was used in two separate talks just in April General Conference. In light of this, again it baffles me that you suggest this is somehow not "Latter-day Saint vernacular" and that the Maxwell Institute is being influenced more by academia than by our own unique scripture and the recent use of this phrase by an apostle in conference. It feels like you're looking for evidence to back up your claims and so ignoring the more likely explanation. "it is undeniable that one outweighs the other depending on your doctrine." I mean, you can emphasize different aspects of Christ's saving role, certainly. But again, there's no need to insist that they're mutually exclusive, since in scriptural language salvation is liberation and liberation is salvation. You can believe in both; millions of Christians do.
@CwicShow
@CwicShow 3 года назад
@@nathanphair2054 I think it was pretty clear that I support the Maxwell Institute. If you study the expansion of Liberation Theology in mainstream Christianity, I do not see how you can come to your conclusion. Entire movements and religions are based on the difference of these two "aspects". Doctrine is not only a "truth" to follow, but a value placed in a hierarchal structure that changes entire belief systems. Just as Jesus gave us the two great commandments, one must reign over the other. If not, everything falls apart. And that is what is happening to many Christian sects. I have friends high up in a couple of these denominations and they are in a battle for exactly this. Let's revisit this in five years and see where things stand. Let's see if the rivalry between these "mutually exclusive" doctrines has not been an issue in Christianity or if they have begun to tear it apart.

"I think it was pretty clear that I support the Maxwell Institute." Sort of? You say that, and then say "but I do find it interesting that that language is starting to be used." Let's see if the rivalry between these 'mutually exclusive' doctrines has not been an issue in Christianity or if they have begun to tear it apart." Wanting restitution for those who are oppressed doesn't mean you are dissenting from the doctrine of Christ. In fact I would say wanting restitution/reparations is by no means political but a spiritual principle as taught by the Gosple of Christ. Faith Repentance and baptism. Key to Repentance is restitution. Becacause we can't step out of the laws of the land it is these very laws that bring about reparations. Liberation theology is the culmination of individuals seeking the Spirit of the Lord to bring a Zion people. If you only leave it at the individual level... not a lot gets achieved with out the combined efforts working within the frame work of the law. @@JanicasJourney Thanks for your question. A key ingredient to repentance is restitution / reparations. If all we do is confess our sins (trials, shortcomings) and do no more than feel sorry for our cause of trials; then we have fallen short to act to make amends. The key ingredient is restore (restitution/reparations) what was lost. Restitution embraces the person(s) who has suffered the injustice. What's really interesting is that restitution doesn't necessarily have to come from the perpetrator(s), restitution can come from anyone (group) that regognised the need This is what happened with the The Good Samaritan, while not committing the crime against the Samaritan. The passing Jew also didn't want to fall guilty to the sin of omission. This Jew restituted to the Samaritan his health as well as made reparations to those charged with the care for the Samaritan to ensure he was made whole again. Ultimately it is us who is changed through repentance. I don't think it is our responsibility or even capability to repent for the sins of others. You kind of make it sound like the good Samaritan was repenting for the sins of the others. In my eyes and understanding of the scriptures, he was not giving restitution or reparations. He was giving charity, which is the love of Christ. He was giving service, giving of his time and money. That is beyond restitution or reparations.

@Apbt-rv7zw 3 года назад
@@FromG2eminor Hi Lisa and I guess that's the issue for many that coming to understand the need for restitution. If we say we are not culpable for past events then we also have to say that present circumstances are all good that people of today are united and we are achieving or have achieved a Zion like people. If hand on heart we can say we have achieved Zion, then All is Well in Zion. If we can't then it's obvious we have a lot of work to do. Just like we do with genealogy we act in proxy for our dead. Repentance is the same in that we Act or take action for wrongs that have occurred in the past so that our present and future trend toward Zion. The 2nd part of your question is who will control all these reparations. In other countries where this has happened and happening; at a National and provincial level or a Federal and State/County level. The Federal gov't along with the concerned party draw up a framework on how reparations / restitution will be enacted. Once agreed too these agreements become law and reparations begin. This form of restoration goes as shown in other countries a long way to healing past wounds. To deny that wounds exist just means the problem gets shuffled to the next generation. We can always cover our ears and eyes and sing Kumbaya but that tactic isn't working as you can tell.

God is racist if you look deep into Christianity. But God is perfect in declaring who is who and we are not so hence the problem and the allure of CRT. Not to mention that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints at one time taught the blacks where of the seed of Cain and the seed of Cain were implied to be the seed of the Serpent (Satan), Cain having been marked by God (Genesis 4:15) so that no one would slay him. (Allowing Cain to have seed.) It is traditionally viewed that the mark was a ‘dark skin’. Whether this mark is indeed a dark skin and is truth I cannot say but it is what has been taught and used by CRT to further support their claims. Having said all that, I don’t believe God is racist over the color of one’s skin but the color of one’s heart. Which is what I believe is the true message in scripture.
