Beloved Lora, you really ARE a wonderful teacher . . . Thank you, so very much! I’m a 75 year old lady who, when I am able to move back to my apartment in Miami, will be able to make a number of customized rugs for my apartment that aren’t made of air-polluting plastics and acrylics. Again, Dear One: Thank you, and God Bless you! 😘❤️🌹

I can't tell you how happy I was to see that you made this video. I totally love the pattern. I've already made one and working on a second one. I did have one question. To change color on the scalloped edge should the new color be on the chain on at the end? Your videos are so great. I can't tell you how many oval rugs I've made to donate to those in need. Thanks so much Lora. You are the best!

Good Morning, Carol! How happy this makes me that you are enjoying the pattern!! YAYAYAYAY!! And donating them warms my heart for sure! @RagstoRugsbyLora

GREAT question! Always make sure the # of stitches along your edge is divisible by 4! (+1 stitch to turn) If it doesn't work out to a # divisble by 4, use the previous row (before starting the scallop border) to make any necessary adjustments! EASY!!

Have you seen knitters and crocheters use a standing toilet paper holder to hold their yarn? I think this would be wonderful to sit next to your work space to place your fabric roll on! A similar holder for hand towels is what I put my yarn balls on and it helps me avoid stopping to adjust yarn

Hi Lora, Does it matter if it is bias fabric or broadcloth? Could it be with a jelly roll or any 2 1/2” strip?
@RagstoRugsbyLora
@RagstoRugsbyLora Год назад
Hello, Jessica! I'm so happy you reached out! You can use ANY fabric you would like. And the width is up to you! I normally use a 2" width strips but you are not limited to that. I've always said, the heavier the fabric (like denim) the narrower the strips (1 1/2"), the lighter the fabric the wider the strips (2 1/2 - 3"). With regard to bias or straightcut .. that's also entirely up to you! :) Bias cut fabrics (like our fabric rolls) won't have the threads but they WILL stretch so you'll need to keep in mind tension when working with bias cut fabric. Straightcut fabrics WILL generally have threads to deal with, but tension won't be as much of a concern. Many rug-makers use jelly rolls to create their rugs. They are beautiful but can get rather pricey. Consider incorporating some recycled bed sheets with the jelly rolls to keep your cost down. You can pick up a set of bed sheets at your local GoodWill or Salvation Army for a few dollars & will have nearly 12 yards of usable goods AND keep undo waste out of landfills! :) Hope this helps!! Thanks for asking!

@RagstoRugsbyLora
@RagstoRugsbyLora 2 года назад
Hello, Kathleen! I'm so happy you found us and THANK YOU for your kind words! Pricing your beautiful creations can sometimes be hard. Several things need to be taken into consideration: your labor, cost of goods, and the location you're selling them! Keeping your cost of goods down by using recyclable goods (bed sheets etc) is a good idea. I generally double my cost of goods & charge at least $10/hour for the time you invested in the rug. By keeping the cost of goods minimal, you can pay yourself more! The area you are selling the rugs comes into play too. Always have a display rug on hand to demonstrate the beauty of your work! Hope this helps some!!

@@RagstoRugsbyLora , well the owl rug is funny looking, lol! Not so pleased with the first flower rug. But my granddaughter likes it, the fox rug turned out beautifully but i had a pattern. Useing old sheets u dont get the elasticity near as much so i had to improvise some but as a whole its still sc/dc mostly. The current flower rug is much easier than i thought n now i find myself thinking up color pattern, ugg never satisfied syndrome i have, lol. I did forget to mention an oval bathroom rug was my first endeavor, took me 4 months as i really didnt know what i was doing. Made a round rug for my Aunt n it is so beautifull. Att, i couldnt master a scalloped edging but can now. I found i crochet tightly n have since learned to loosen up a bit. Width of fabric n size of hook really makes a diff. I did crochet with yarn, a turtle rug for my newest grandchild. Now thats cute but it was fustrating as i had to use a much larger hook to get the scallop on with the # of stitches as per required. SIMPLE IS SO MUCH BETTER! LLOL! I so want to make a half circle rug, ☺️❣

When making a larger crocheted half round rug, how many stitches should you have before beginning the scallop border ?
@RagstoRugsbyLora
@RagstoRugsbyLora Год назад
Hello, Elaine! Great question! Allow 2 1/2" for your scalloped border. If measuring the width of your rug 2 1/2 x 2 = 5". Subtract that from the overall size you would like your half-round rug to be. If your goal is 30" as an example - measure across. At 25" you will stop your rounds & start your scalloped border!

How many strips of yarn do you use
@RagstoRugsbyLora
@RagstoRugsbyLora 5 месяцев назад
Hello, Annette! Could you give me a bit more information to help me answer your question? The number of fabric strips depends on the length of those same strips & the size of the rug you are making! A better measurement of your fabric usage would be yardage or weight. Did you know we have a rug (fabric, jute, bonnie craft cord & cora craft cord) calculator on our website! It's along the left border of the website. Simply share with us the information requested and we will calculate FOR YOU the amount of fabric you will need for all sizes and shapes of rugs and all TYPES of rugs: Crocheted, Twine-Woven & Toothbrush, by way of weight or by yardage or by our fabric rolls! I know you said it was 36" wide, what is the height for this rug?
@RagstoRugsbyLora
@RagstoRugsbyLora Год назад
Hello Kim! So sorry for delayed response! The half round rug we crocheted in this video measures 16 1/2 (depth) x 36" (width). Allowing for the toe kick under most cabinetry, it's the perfect size to slip under a bathroom vanity or kitchen sink cabinet! Hope that helps!

Hello, Maria! Thank you for asking! For this Half Round Rug we used our "Rug on a Roll" Broadcloth Fabric. It's a continuous roll of 2" wide broadcloth! You can find them on our website! MANY colors to choose from! www.ragstorugs-bylora.com/ Click on "Fabric"!

I have tried this many times and every time my bottom is not flat. Any suggestions as to what I’m doing wrong?😢
@RagstoRugsbyLora
@RagstoRugsbyLora Год назад
Hello Rachel & thank you for reaching out! Quick question. When you are asking about the "bottom" of your rug not being flat, are you referring to the outer edge? Or are you referring to the way it lays on the floor? (i.e. Is it waffling or buckling?)

Do you sell the pattern?

Hello, Jo! Thanks for asking but unfortunately we don't have the written pattern. The only "Pattern" I have is this video. But thank you for suggesting it ... on the "ToDo" list it goes! Hope you'll stay in touch!

Hi Beauty♥️ sigh..i am so frustrated because i cant figure out why i only have 42 stitches at the end..before the border...instead of 45..its driving me crazy🤦‍♀️do you have any tips for me? I did everything with u step by step...and im not even a beginner

Ohhh ... I'm sorry Brittany! I can see you are a LOT like me! I am a definite "Type A" person! No worries though! Can you back it off one row & position (3) increases randomly? Spread them out so they won't be noticeable. These rugs are soooooo forgiving. You will never see the additional stitches in your rug.
