OH MY GOSH!!!! Was reading an article in the Times, stopped immediately to see your video.. I’m making this for the grandkids tomorrow.. thank you SO MUCH!! You are amazing and a FAN FAVORITE… thanks so much Beth.. always waiting for more.. 🎉
That's a great but effortless and nowadays even more important inexpensive dessert. Reminds me a bit of the Austrian Kaiserschmarrn (= a thick but fluffy shredded pancake with raisins and lots of powered sugar). Over here in Germany we would traditionally soak the raisins in Rum.
A winner - I love having a way to use leftover croissants! I wanted to request any ideas for vegetarian show stoppers for Thanksgiving. Have enjoyed your Thai curry in acorn squash cups at past events❤
I thought of Orange Zest before you mentioned it. 😂 It is an underrated all year round ingredient in desserts and savory foods. I’ll add it to the sugar for palmiers, anything with warm spices, add to jerk seasoning even a bit of peel to liquor. It’s underused yet unexpected!
Another fine British invention, but we call it Bread & Butter Pudding.... because most Brits baking this would have buttered the croissants first! But as croissants are so much full of butter you probably don’t need it, so I’ll forgive you. Personally I like to add orange marmalade and a splash of fine Scotch whisky to mine. And it’s ALWAYS sultanas, never raisins. Apple works well too.
I am going to make this looks bomb!!!! Keep them cooking videos coming. Chicken fried steak, Enchiladas, spaghetti, lasagna, aguas frescas horchata, jamaica you name it make it then I will make it 😊
Beth you always make the best recipes ❤ I wonder do you have a recipe for overnight guests for brunch? Let’s say one is tiered from the evening before so a make ahead just pop in the oven type? 😅🙏🏻💞
Oh yes I have the BEST thing! Make this Puffy Egg Bake, basically, you just stir it up the night before and then pop it in the oven the next day! Serve with Salad, Fruit Salad and my yummy Orange Pecan Muffins and your done! Extra Credit for the home fries :) You can make those on the stovetop while egg bake is in the oven! Here are the recipes! entertainingwithbeth.com/beths-puffy-egg-bake-casserole/entertainingwithbeth.com/orange-pecan-crumb-muffins entertainingwithbeth.com/home-fries-recipe/
Heavy cream and milk is half-and-half, correct? I usually buy half-and-half, so I'll use that. :) Also, wouldn't the raisins taste delish soaked in a hard liquor like rum? Also, rum in the caramel sauce would be yum! :)
I make this yesterday, just wonderful!!! Thank you Beth, as always this is a perfect and I only had two hours to let it rest. Please keep the recipes coming.
I know it's strange but I like my bread pudding with only a thin layer of bread and a discernible layer of pudding. I love the idea of adding orange zest, but I would also add a touch of cinnamon because they're great friends. Thanks for sharing your recipe!
I have never tried bread pudding, I'ts simply not something we eat here in Scandinavia, as far as I know. But I heard croissants and rum, so I guess I'll have to give it a try 😂
Beth, your croissant bread pudding looks so beautiful and glamorous, my lovely friend. You're truly a perfectionist and a loving mother-big sister figure. I hope your turkey meal prep become a huge success.
Croissants are the best when fresh, but sometimes I’m greedy and buy more than I can finish in time 😂 This is perfect way to not waste croissants if a few days old. Thank you!! 👏🏽👏🏽💯
When I saw the picture and title of this video, I literally widened my eyes and said "Oooooooo" out loud. 😄This is just everything I want for a fall dessert. You always know, Beth!
Sure if you grease it well with butter, no prob! May just need to reduce baking time by 5-10 mins since cast iron is such a great heat conductor! Wouldn't want the custard to over bake and then curdle :)
Cant wait to make this soon for me can i use coconut cream / almond milk and for the sauce can i use vegan butter and coconut cream i never had croissant bread pudding with raisins and caramel sauce before perfect for my after office snacks
That is NOT bread pudding...has no consistency of pudding..its bread cake...my momma made bread pudding and it was creamy and custardy as pudding should be
no it is not ,I'm English it is a British wartime pudding used when we had wartime rations sparse ingredients it's made with stale bread ,raisins butter eggs and milk wartime way ,although I do add cream to my eggs and milk ,the pudding should be moist and creamy at the bottom ,and have a crisp butter top ,done in the oven oh and I forgot the sugar lol ,I made one last night ,perfect on a Autumn night ,I was also taught to make it with leftover jam which you spread on leftover bread pieces with the butter yummy ,Beth's is a totally altered version with a nice twist but a lot drier and crimping the croissants serve no purpose as the underneath of bread and butter pudding should be moist creamy buttery definately soft with the crisp topping of buttered bread ,my favourite wartime English pudding ,but the American twist looks nice too especially using croissants yum
Thank you for making REAL caramel sauce. So many recipes promise caramel but instead of melting and browning white sugar they just use packaged brown sugar which actually makes butterscotch. That’s okay I guess but if you’re gonna call it caramel then make it for real like you did! Brava!
You always do a great job. I'm personally a little bummed to see dessert recipes though. These days, people are lucky to serve their loved ones "real food". Thanks for what you do though. You are one of a kind and greatly appreciated.
Aww thanks for that :). I try to alternate 1-2 savory recipes with 1-2 recipes sweet recipes each time I upload to create a little something for everybody :) Here's a really great cost-effective dinner Idea I think you will enjoy! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-to6ixJqhwpQ.html
so glad you are back posting. I missed you and your ideas. Although no one else commented on your absence, so I'm wondering if I have just not been seeing the posts. In any event, glad to see you again. Great recipe and hope to make it tomorrow for all the family.
It's true! I was traveling a lot this summer and then got hit with the flu! But I'm back and excited about all the holiday recipes/videos I'm working on sharing! Stay tuned! :)
I found your light tomato soup recipe 9 months ago. I loved it and i keep making it a big batches. I started looking back at all your videos this past weekend. 10 years!!! I didn’t realized that, I love all your recipes and the simple style you have about teaching. I have many more videos to watch, but I am loving them!
My husband loves bread pudding and am so glad I came across your video. I’ll make this for him! Thank you for your straight forward and simple recipe, it looks absolutely yummy and mouth watering.
you are hands down the best cooking channel on youtube i’ve watched your channel for the past 10ish years (and kin community) and i hope you never stop making videos!! thank you for all that you do!
Wow, thank you! That is so sweet of you to say :).Just this month the channel turned 10, I cannot believe it! And I could have NEVER come this far had it not been for all of you cheering me on! So THANK YOU! It means so much :)
Yes you can! In fact I have a recipe for Pannettone Bread pudding too. Here's the recipe! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-LcoSefs8A1I.html
Been making these for 25 years ever since I had bread pudding the first time at a restaurant called cool river. I thought a croissant would be a better alternative to bread and it was
Unfortunately, this wouldn't work without the eggs :( But here's a great dessert idea that doesn't use eggs! Or dairy! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-G9mIBVBXhcY.html
I have enjoyed your videos so much….this recipe will definitely be one that I make very soon! Do you have a good recipe for Carmel apples? It’s the season🍂🍁🍂🍁🍂🍁🍂
Oh sure I would use 2 Tbsp of dark Rum and pour it over the raisins and let them soak for about 15 minutes, and then drain it like the orange juice. Hope you enjoy! And so glad you enjoy the videos!
Hi Beth, I tried this recipe and it was a big hit with my family! So delicious. I did reduce the liquids slightly though as I didnt want it so wet..and added cinnamon. Thank u for sharing this with us!
I am so going to ketofy this! I’m wondering… Since I’m baking my own croissants, if I bake small pinches of the dough (rather than making whole croissants) and break them in half when nearly done and then let them get crispy, if that would work as a one-step process. I’d have to sub the raisins - I’m thinking blueberries, maybe? Either just fresh or unsweetened, freeze dried soaked in a little orange juice or Cointreau? This seems like a great dessert for the holidays that’s just a little different. Even if I just decide to make it the regular way for others to enjoy! PS Love the souvenir shirt!
Oh yes the Cointreau would be SO good! Especially for the holidays :) You could also do dried cherries and almond extract, that would be great too! But what really got me was the "baking my own croissants?!" You are super woman Lucinda!! I tried that once, and never again! LOL!
@@EntertainingWithBeth Same! LOL But I’ve never tried Keto ones and my expectations are drastically lowered! 🤣 And I love the idea of cherries and almond!
I've never been a bread pudding fan but this recipe looks so good! Must be the buttery croissants. Lol. My one and only favorite bread. The orange flavored raisins, yum! Could you maybe add chopped pecans also! Would jarred caramel work? Looks amazing!!!
Yes of course pecans would be great! Sure You could use jarred sauce but I find it's always too sweet for me. Maybe served on the side just in case! :)
So I wouldn’t use the condensed milk that’ll be a little bit to gooey but it looks like you could use evaporated milk here’s an article I found that shows you how to make that adjustment it looks like you need to add a little bit of water to it www.unlockfood.ca/en/Articles/Cooking-And-Food/Milk,-Yogurt-and-Cheese/All-About-Evaporated-Milk.aspx
Yes of course it would be great that way! The longer it sits in the fridge soaking in the egg mixture for softer and creamier. The pudding is no problem. One day ahead is great.
