Finally in Honduras! The tower of the Cathedral in Comayagua is not the oldest, what they probably meant to say was that the clock is the oldest working mechanical clock in the Americas. It was working at the Alhambra in Granada Spain before it was brought over to the new continent. There usually is someone that can take you up to the tower, you probably went in at siesta time, lol. I know is not closed because a youtuber was just recently there. Im glad you crossed the border without any issues, the border and government offices are always intentionally vague to make people use the local "fixers", we call them "Tramitadores". Sometimes it is better to pay one of them, it makes things go so much faster. I avoid them, but some people prefer to use them to accelerate the process.
@paulfiguer6313

Sorry. You dont know much about Honduras's history. The clock in Comayagua is not the oldst in America, IS THE OLDEST IN THE WORLD, WITH ABOUT 1000 YEARS OLD., AND STILL GIVEN THE EXACT TIME. You need to get more informed about Honduras. Anybody that want to see the clock, need to make an appointment with the person in charge of the care of the Church. The clock was a gift to Comayagua from one the Spain king Felipe over 300 years ago.

The Howler Monkeys go nut’s when the trucks do that. I’ve found that they often hang out where the trucks make the most noise along the roads. You can hear them getting excited long before the truck comes along.
@Brrrap743
@Brrrap743 2 года назад
So how engine braking works is basically closing off the exhaust valves which is causing that noise. Now the pressure has to build up to a certain level before the valve will momentarily pop open allowing exhaust gases to vacate the pipe opening and closing opening and closing causing the pop pop pop sound. Semi tractors usually have six cylinders and engine brakes AKA jake brakes usually have a selection to choose either two four or six cylinders being closed off by the sound of it I would say he had all six closed. So every time he lets off the gas pedal it immediately closes those valves and soon as he steps on the gas again it allows them to open. There are no laws on engine braking through residential areas in South America, however when you get up here to North America you will only ever hear that sound in mountainous areas in non-populated areas as it is normally illegal within city limits as a nuisance noise disturbance.

Thanks Noraly, great show as usual. The strange sound from the truck is a "Jake Brake", named after the guys the invented it, Jacobs, It is a compression brake, to go down long, steep hills while saving the mechanical brakes they basically open a valve that makes the truck engine work harder slowing down the engine and slowing the truck. The loud sound is the compression of the cylinders leaking to atmosphere (pop pop pop), this is in frequency with the engine speed. And the driver is using it correctly by keeping the RPM or motor speed down, it doesn't work as well at higher engine speeds due to increased inertia. Stay safe and happy travels!

Hi Noraly even though Im from NJ I’m actually from Progreso Honduras and I got to say you are a Rockstar. I wouldn’t recommend riding alone. Overall thank you so much for reminding me how beautiful my country is. The sky as beautiful as your eyes and the mountains as majestic as your heart. Thank you hun

So weird, the concept of a "Fixer". That one guy definitely looked predatory. Your well developed gut feelings and command of the language are good survival tools
@lusa3002
@lusa3002 2 года назад
Most of the fixers who are at the border post of Honduras are drug addicts and scammers, be careful and do not trust anyone who offers you help in exchange for money, when you arrive at the border post always ask for the immigration office, there they will give all the necessary instructions to carry out the entry and exit process and NEVER give your personal documents or passports.

Noraly, it is always so satisfying to hear your "Welcome to" exclamations with the accompanying sweep of your arm. I wait with anticipation for you to say this every time you cross a border, and am afraid you will forget....but like with everything else, you never let us down. Awesome! Happy riding in Honduras!

I’m curious as to why all those trucks are just parked on the road even after the border crossing. But it was another exciting adventure with Itchy Boots. Ride safe.

@@timpellett9701 At Central American borders the truckers are lined up before the roadside for several reasons related to bureaucracy : they may be waiting for their brokers to send the bills of lading to the customs offices at the border , to tax inspectors , and payments have to be made from the buyers /sellers of the goods, they may be waiting to transfer all or parts of their loads to other trucks which have to show up yet. A Lot of this stuff could have been done by computer links and with well organized offices but a lot of those truckers are working for themselves .The border workers are lackadaisical in their approach to work , it will,get done someday .Maybe a bribe is expected and when not received they take extra time . The same sort of thing goes on for the Canada- USA border and the USA-Mexico border but there it is less obvious because the truckers do it at the big consolidation yards outside the border towns and a lot of it is efficiently completed well before a truck arrives . . In Europe there can be long lines at some of the border crossings out of the EU zone .

The amount of commerce hung up at all the South American borders must cost the shippers and producers billions of dollar due to insufficient personnel, systems and bureaucracy.

So strange. And why would you open the the cargo and remove some before a border crossing. Very sketchy.
@lusa3002
@lusa3002 2 года назад
Well, one part is due to the lack of staff at customs and the other part is that some of the truckers stop to rest at each border crossing.

It looks like there's not much time to think with some of that two way traffic. The one guy that buzzed by, against traffic, on the right, on the bike was asking for it. It would be hard to focus on directions from the GPS with all this nonsensical traffic. Happy the crossing went smoothly for you, Noraly! My guess is you're probably already in Guatemala or Belize now if you're going on Caribbean side. Safe riding, Noraly!

that is normal here in honduras, motorcycles are sold like hot cakes here and most motorcyclists have no respect for traffic laws, many people die almost daily in motorcycle accidents.

Central America needs to form a common market so that so much wealth won't be wasted on truck driver's salary and diesel fuel at the border.
@lusa3002
@lusa3002 2 года назад
we have a common market, those trucks parked on the side of the street are usually in transit, they park on the side of the road so as not to pay for parking in the designated lots and if they arrive on the day some truck drivers stop at the border to rest to go out at night again. those who go from guatemala to panama stay on the border of guasaule or el espino which borders nicaragua and those who come from panama to guatemala stay on the border of el amatillo which borders el salvador.

I don't think I am alone in thinking that some of the expenses of crossing borders are imaginary in the minds of officials who see an opportunity to make a bit of cash at the expense of the unaware. It is sad but even sadder is that it is human nature to rip each other off.
@trevorjameson3213
@trevorjameson3213 2 года назад
Oh that's just how it is in countries like that. Not really a big deal, just part of the expense. They never want more than a few bucks anyway.
