WOW! I've had crazy bitateral achilles tendonitis for a few months. When I get up in the morning I'm hobbling. I bought a much more affordable stainless steel banana shaped instrument on amazon but was just going to use it with clients. I just tried it on both achilles and can't believe how much more range of motion and total pain relief I have now walking! I'm going to tell my clients to buy it to use in between sessions. Really remarkable!

Great video 💯 In guasha technique as well as cupping, it is ok for us to have redness and petichiae. If there's not it is ok, and of there is it is ok too. (I summarize it a lot by saying that btw) Why don't you find it useful? Thanks for your time
@BrookbushInstitute

I find IASTM useful. I just don't think results are related to petichaie.

Can we expect the bumpiness under the skin to disappear/smooth out after treatment? I’ve applied this technique to myself and found the bumpiness persists.

Question 1: if you’re not a professional but just want to do this or even do it on a relative, how to determine if it’s safe for them to go through it ? Follow-up question: What type of health conditions prevent from this this ? Couple examples: are spider veins or benign varicose veins a problem to do this ? Question 2: Can this be done for a normal soft tissue recovery process after a workout routine that targets legs ? Question 3: how many times a week can this be done ? Question 4: Where can I find the name of these tools to order them ?

Hi sir! Tom Myers usted to say something like "if you want to work on fascia... don't put any cream!". Any thoughts?

Great question, I am pushing just past the superficial layers of fascia, so that I can feel that first "push-back" from the muscle. In short, not hard, but hard enough that I am going to drag some tissue with me as I move the edge with each stroke. Dr. B2

Questions: we can have the same results with foam rolling and. stretch? you don't have to do create an hematoma in the muscles right?
@capablebody1164
@capablebody1164 6 лет назад
1) you can't 2) don't have to
@capablebody1164

It's about create a controlled pro-inflammatory response to activate collagen proliferation/realignment, in short. Foam rolling and stretching are not the proper tools for that.
@BrookbushInstitute
@BrookbushInstitute 6 лет назад
Hey AIPAC, I agree with capable bodies. We could also look at foam rolling as stretching as predominately muscular techniques, and this far more specific to fascia. The idea is to improve fascial mobility and that requires some shear to improve gliding between layers. If you notice in the video I am not one of those butchers who tries to make everything as red as possible. It just enough work to get better motion, and the redness is a secondary response that may or may not help via acute inflammatory processes. Dr. B2

I really like Smart Tools. I think there quality is better than anything else out on the market, and at $899 for a full set of tools the price is very reasonable - www.smarttoolsplus.com/detail.cfm/id/2/name/Professional-Set Check it out. These are the tools I am using in the video. The shark fin tool alone is really versatile if you wanted to start with just one tool. Dr. B2

Thank you for covering such an important and generally under discussed/overlooked topic. I absolutely agree tools help therapists in the long run save time, energy and money for patients/clients. It's nice that you're promoting "Smart Tools," however, for those who can not afford those, then any gua sha type tool (even a lid from a mason jar can do in a pinch) or the modestly priced Fascia Blaster by Ashley Black is comparable. Also, the percussion vibrator (Hypervolt) is a terrific asset if you're able to drop 5 Cs...The Jeanie Rub is just as worthy and you'd save 3 Cs.
@shawnhennity1769
@shawnhennity1769 6 лет назад
Not really. There are 5 tools in SMART Tools, and each of them serves a specific techniques. gua sha type tool are not designed for the same techniques. Of course, even spoon can do something.
@BrookbushInstitute
@BrookbushInstitute 6 лет назад
I support smart tools because they are the most affordable premium quality tool ($899 for a full set) - www.smarttoolsplus.com/detail.cfm/id/2/name/Professional-Set. There quality is comparable if not better than the Graston, Hawkgrips or other premium lines I see. We have to be a little careful in recommending Gua Sha and other tools with very different edges because that may change the technique. Obviously, I am all about access and affordability and agree that even a mason jar lid and spoons will do something, I think picking up just one of the smart tools (for example the "shark tooth" STM1 - $250) would be the best way to get started if you do not want to invest in a full set up front. As far as percussive therapy and the Hypervolt. We are huge fans, have already created a whole tutorial series of videos for there device, and have CEC courses in the works, but two points: I do not think that IASTM and Percussive Therapy result in the same adaptation... in essence, they are different modalities working on different systems for additional benefit. Second, the Hypervolt is only $350 - hyperice.com/hypervolt

I use this one on clients and myself, high quality, stainless steel at $16 it's a tiny fraction of the cost of those others: www.amazon.com/Medical-Stainless-Massage-Therapy-Shoulder/dp/B076P9CQMD/ref=sr_1_2_sspa?crid=20R26KVP7H5JH&dchild=1&keywords=stainless+steel+gua+sha+scraping+massage+tool&qid=1591737384&sprefix=stainless+steel+gua%2Caps%2C183&sr=8-2-spons&psc=1&spLa=ZW5jcnlwdGVkUXVhbGlmaWVyPUExUzNLMEFZNDg0UkdOJmVuY3J5cHRlZElkPUEwMzAwNTI1M1M0NVBKSE9ZTDZaViZlbmNyeXB0ZWRBZElkPUEwODcxMDc0MlA1VDZCRFNZNlBNSyZ3aWRnZXROYW1lPXNwX2F0ZiZhY3Rpb249Y2xpY2tSZWRpcmVjdCZkb05vdExvZ0NsaWNrPXRydWU=

Should there be swelling after doing this?
@brentbrookbush9505
@brentbrookbush9505 4 года назад
I think a small amount of swelling is inevitable, but this should be hardly perceptible. Although more swelling can happen, even following normal implementation, it should not be the normal response you see. If someone does get a large amount of swelling this is a good sign to reduce the intensity or dose, and if the swelling is too serious or will not subside I would refer out to a physician. Dr. B2

This my be a stupid question but i've been using metal utensils (Spoon or fork) because I don't have that instrument. Does it have the same effect or am I just doing nothing?
@brentbrookbush9505
@brentbrookbush9505 4 года назад
Hard to tell without knowing how you are using the spoon and what type of edge it has, but assuming a similar edge, you will likely get similar results. The tools make the job easier, but I have seen therapists effectively use all sorts of kitchen utensils from spoons like you are using to plastic spatulas. Dr. B2
