Here's a power move I was lucky enough to catch being assembled in the Plant City Yard! They were taking locomotives to Winston Yard. However, when one blows a brake hose and locks the train up, it causes a major traffic jam on the S-line, blocking it up and backing up the Tropicana train, the Truck Eliminator, and a Bone Valley phosphate train. I will post the videos of the Eliminator and the Juice Train soon. #8096 is a SD40-2, #s 780 and 940 are both ES44AH models, #s 4677, 4686, and 4689 are all SD70M models, and #8595 is a SD50.

After cleaning a mess up when I worked on B&LE RR in my early 20s. I would give people some advice not to run through the gates when a train is approaching but I just get I am faster then the training moving not always the case they may be throttling up to go onto the main line. Anyway, you couldn't tell that there had been anybody in the car that got hit by a train pieces of the occupants and the car were scattered everywhere.

As an engineer myself, the best way here would had been to cut away from the train that he had just hooked into by a car or two, so that he could get to the air hose with that wrench. Otherwise you are just fighting yourself.

Do you know if all the units were on line,or if they were making a power move besides the freight?Most railroads,and I thought the CSX,has a 24 axle limit rule.You can have many units you want,but they are limited to 24 axles that can be "on-line" with power.
@BoneValleyFilms

@norbertdx
@norbertdx 7 лет назад
I'm just asking, what's the purpose of the 24 axle rule?
@wilber53
@wilber53 7 лет назад
Taking the slack out with too much power, could result of snapping a coupler. Also going down hill,and going into dynamic braking could cause a derailment due to quick hard braking.

Mike Day nope that wasnt hard at all, that was maybe 2-3 mph, the rule for maximum coupling speed for freight is 4 mph, I've seen it done at like 8-10 mph and its really not at big deal. these structures are made tough. As long as your not coupling to a large cut of cars at ''high speed'' there's no real danger for derailing.

Maybe it´s simpler to use an adjustable wrench.I work everyday with hydraulic hoses and it´s the same, there so much different sizes,just not possible to carry all spanners.So i guess he had to do with a newer hose from a different brand.They have smaller or wider fittings and than you are screwed.Bye the way when looking on old Chessie vids they used adjustable spanners for the hoses.
