For purpose of the video, the block heater was NOT plugged in. Truck is cold(outside temperature 8°F). Startup: 1:00 High Idle 1:50 3 cylinder idle: 2:35
The point of the video is to show the 3 cylinder idle feature(which occurs at 10 degrees farenheit or colder). But the cummins sure does impress with its cold start ability
+Wes D yeah I sold it last year. Now I have a duramax, which is unbearably loud if you straight pipe. Cummins sounds perfect straight piped. They also sound amazing with an MBRP XP Series muffler. Better than straight pipe IMO
I’m honestly not a big fan of the idea of only having half of the pistons igniting fuel to warm the engine up. I’d just rather have the engine idle on 6 cylinders. Probably doesn’t stress the engine as much despite taking longer to warm up.
It’s irrelevant and a warmer engine quicker is better than a cold engine sitting there idling, and fuel deactivation is proven. Simply not an issue and proven.
