Curt from Monster Transmission shows how to switch a manual linkage in a 4L60E transmission. This is a simple procedure, no need to take the valve body or the filter off. You only need to remove the pan and the neutral safety switch if you have one on the transmission. Curt shows how to get the Neutral Safety Switch off without damaging it and even explains why the housing usually gets broken taking the connectors out.

This was a pretty good video. Your cameraman should have zoomed in when you were actually disassembling/reassembling the part so we could have seen what was going on. It would also have been nice to see you fully install the short shaft into the transmission.

My shifter is off from the actual selected position. For instance, when the selector is in the park position, transmission is in reverse and shows in reverse on the dash. And goes past the manual position when the selector is all the way down.

Use A little heat from a heat gun to heat up connectors on the neutral safety switch.. they always unplug easily by hand for me... a little heat plugging them back in makes it easy and insures that you have it plugged in all the way...

I was wondering have you come across a linkage that had loosened off inside and the shifter would shift to 2nd before it started to move and reads on the scanner that it's in OD4. It seems like their is no detent knotches from Park to 2nd gear like the detent spring isn't their till it hits 2nd gear.

From they way it sounds it could be that the detent rooster is not aligned correctly or is twisted.

What position does the rooster comb need to be on when you put the oil pan back on i noticed that small detail was not mentioned it would make a difference, im working on the same trans. Please if anyone knows where the rolker spring has to be on the teeth of the rooster comb before installin the pan thanks,.... mark pino.

+Marcos Pino It really wouldn't matter, but for general purposes park is the typical location. If any more questions feel free to give us a call at 800-708-0087. Thanks

A little mini torch to barely heat connector and it comes right out.

is it normal, if replacing a shorter shaft for a longer shaft, for the fit to be very snug? I had to use a mallet to convince mine to go in.

+Bobby Augustine Usually when that happens that means there is a little burr causing it to bind up. You can take some very fine sand paper to smooth it out and should be okay. If all is moving freely now you are good to go. Thanks for commenting. If you need anything else feel free to give us a call at 800-708-0087
