Today's Video we've got custom fabricated integrated 911R LED lights. I have a few problems to solve, as I usually do on this custom Porsche build, but what else is new? Nick at lauernteile.com/ used Fusion 360 to design these car parts, and the result is a one off, 3D Printed part that I can use on the build! It's awesome.

This is a Porsche 911 restoration that was abandoned in 1994 after being converted to a race car. My plan is a twin turbo Subaru EZ30 porsche engine swap with 400+ HP to the wheels. Stay tuned.

Fantastic work! Gonna look great when it's all welded and finished. Instead of mucking about with the brake line, rotor and your vise, I think I might have taken a piece of cardboard and traced out the bottom of the tail light housing curve and used that as a template to jigsaw the shape out of a piece of 2 x 10 lumber or similar to create a shaping buck around which to bend your rod. It would make a nice tool (and who doesn't like more tools...) to provide consistency and repeatability as compared to your malleable hard brake line. Instead of the dimensional lumber, you could use some 3/4 and 1/4 inch thick plywood. Cut one 1/4" and two 3/4" pieces with the same curve profile, and then stack them together with the 1/4" piece in the middle and set back a bit to make sort of a trough to hold the rod a bit more steady when bending it. Just a couple ideas if you need to make any more of those filler rod pieces. Looking forward to how this all works out. Cheers.

Chapau ( hats off! ) to these projects: how you dive in, modify , improve, personalize and teach all at the same time. Everything is looking quite cool. Be wary of the tail lights the first time I removed mine after 130,000 miles there was a lot of big debris ON TOP of the tail-lamp-housing rocks and pebbles the rear tires will toss crap at them all day long, I don't want to see lovely 3-D printed parts getting thrashed by road debris,. just sayin'.

those 3D printed brackets are interesting, sort of a deconstructed version of lauernteile's modern R taillights.

What a wonderful time we are in where we have our own concept for our car that will make it stand out from ALL those other cars AND have places where the part can be made -and in the end you are part of that finished product on your car!! The tail lights that your design guy thought up are not just on paper, there are now plastic parts on your car. As Jerry Garcia of the Grateful Dead said, "What long strange trip this has been (or something like that) "A garage without a Porsche is like a dark hole - Walter Rohrl - Porsche Development

Been watching since the beginning, I can’t wait to see this finished. Its all coming together now, my biggest wonder was how you were going to do the lights, similar to the render. Great job it looks amazing you deserve way more views and subs for this build.

Ha ha the literal German-English translation of 'Lauern teile' is "parts lurk" (credit: Google Translate, but with the words transposed 'Teile lauern')! I'm sure the intent for the name was something closer to a cool German name for 'parts store' ('teile' can be interpreted as parts, although Google Translate will also tell you it means 'share'). Anyway the lights look cool :)

Second comment! Love the content. I think the company name is a German pun; Teile (pronounced 'taileh') is German for parts. Lauern is German for lurking/spying.

High Five from London Ontario Canada. I have been watching this build since the beginning, VERY intrigued!! Found you by watching Home Built By Jeff. I think it's very cool how you builders support each other by wearing swag..."Make The Noise". I love what you're doing, bringing in some modern technology to a car that really could use it! Just a though with your tail lights, do you need the flimsy brackets? If you are welding the tail light panel to the car, why not attach the light sto that new metal? Maybe the housing and lens could be oversized and "sandwich" the body panel by screwing together? Anyway, keep up the amazing work, your channel helps me wind down and dream of doing a project like this myself...someday...LOL!!
@GarageItYourself
@GarageItYourself 2 года назад
Certainly a different look. 😊 Maybe whilst you're doing this make the frames attach from the rear so it makes the lights more serviceable cos once the steel is welded in place you won't be able to get to the mounting points if teh frames or lights ever get damaged 😉

yea, I've got that all worked out. Stay tuned.

Nice work so high five from the Netherlands! One question: can the lights be screwed in sufficiently tight to prevent them to vibrate loose during driving?

Not sure if I'm a fan of Your lights yet ¿ Now that you got that metal tacked on there flush. How are you gonna get the lights out? Looks like with your permanent body work you're gonna have to go through the back to service the lights now? Definitely picked my interest with the build.

Its german, guess to fit being for Porsche. Lauern is to lurk or lie in wait. Teile is parts or sections.. So i guess a translation could be Lurking Parts
