My experience cutting down an Emco 100 series storm door to fit a small opening. As long as you use a fine tooth blade, you should be ok. Do a test cut first...I did.
Good demo - I figured it could be done, but wanted verification! And there you are! I am going to attempt the same for both a front and back doors at my Aunt’s little old house. Thanks for the insights.
Tks for the comment! You can do it! Dont know why this is frowned upon by EMCO but I guess they gotta cover their legal marker or they would get a bunch of mangled doors back. If you didnt subscribe yet, please do if this works for you!
Thank you! Same stinking issue! Except I only need about 1/2 inch taken off. And I was told a custom emco is like an extra $200!! or so.. They of course say they can’t be cut! They say it will ruin the structure ect.. So I am glad I found your informative and humorous vid! The bottom is open so I have no clue why they can’t be cut! There’s no structural issues if it’s cut! adjustable sweep to hide any cosmetic stuff! Sorry I’m rambling, but, so excited I saw this! Thank you!
Glad it helped! Yes sounds like EMCO is covering their butt with all those warnings. ANd they dont even paint the chipboard filling on them. Hope it worked out for you!
Glad it was helpful! Its was EZ. Yes? These companys want you to buy custom stuff for big bucks. You can do better at home with only a little effort...Rock on My Friend!
Did that on my solid front door but now i need to replace my storm door got one off FB but need to cut 4" off on the width!! Any suggestions?? Door fram is a 32" but new storm door is a 36".. or should i just find a 32" storm door??
Wow DS that is a hot mess...Wish I was there to see. but maybe cut with a guide made from a piece of wood or a harbor freight thing,.. . what do you have to loose. GO FOR THE GLORY!!!
