We took in these ‪@BrianTheBootmaker‬ Custom Role Club Underdogs in for a repair. The Customer wanted to switch from the original rubber half sole to a leather sole. Once we took the soles off we made a leather half sole filler piece to keep the heel balanced so we could keep the original heel height. The Customer went with black forest leather soles, we also recreated Brian's Riveted shank. After, we built a new heel stack to match the oak bark pit tanned leather since the customer wanted a natural finished edge. We finished up with ‪@DrSole‬ Half heels.

At least the real work is still there, the original boot. Those new soles are fine for any other pair of boots except those role clubs. Definitely brought down the quality of the boot with that resole.

Interesting that someone would pay this much for these boots And not be happy with the original sole

those are bespoke boots, just order them with the leather soles. To each their own, but i like the before version better

Hmm...Doesn't look like a repair to me, the Underdogs were perfectly fine to begin with.

Like watching your high school art teacher paint over a Picasso, somehow thinking that doing so puts him in Picasso's league.

I like the new soles better . It matches the leather nicer and it’s a cleaner look.

Unbelievable! I'm assuming these were not bought directly from Brian because, why not ask for the light natural shoe at purchase? Besides, I like the rubber half soles better. These are meant to be a stylish rugged military boot. Plus, you take away better traction. It's a nice resole, it just seems pointless.

The taste is different to any person ... but why havent the customer ask Brian/RoleClub at first ? Ok his/her/they decions 🤷‍♀️

Video is perfect! I liked the original shoes more :-) But if the soles were already worn, why not?

The soles weren’t worn at all. Maybe he just wanted a different style of sole which is what I did with my pair of new Iron Rangers.

This was a great video! Those boots look awesome. What do you guys think about the role club's construction?

I really like the way they are made. They inspire the way I resole and make boots :)

The uppers are assembled masterfully, stitching is pretty much perfect. Brian uses a different type of footbed setup than most handwelt construction boots, sort of a mix between a Goodyear welt and handwelt style footbed where the holdfast is a folded up portion of the edge of the leather footbed, rather than a channeled holdfast like you usually see with a handwelt

If ain’t broke, why fix it?

Primitive PR. The original sole is much better than the remade one. When I read that the shoes of the owner of the workshop, everything was clear to me. This is very stupid and deceiving the viewer.

Was that leather filling instead of cork? Any pros or cons using one of the other?
@grahamhardin8
@grahamhardin8 Год назад
He says it doesn’t crumble like cork does :) no need to replace when resoling either
@UnsungHouse
@UnsungHouse Год назад
Yes, it doesn't break down like cork does. I'm not anti cork myself, I feel like it's a suitable filler for most applications. It will certainly break down and crumble after long periods of time, like decades, but if the boot owner is maintaining the boots and resoling when necessary it won't ever get to that point of deterioration

Resole was not necessary yet🤔
