Be careful, it's often illegal to upcycle designer items like this especially if the logo is still visible like with these shoes. I know you said this pair was a gift, but since you asked, "how much should I charge for a job like this" it sounds like you're at least entertaining the idea of selling similar items, which I definitely don't recommend .
Wow! Didn’t think I’d like the end product, but you made those shoes beautiful!! What a lucky girl your daughter is! Tell her to keep up the good grades!
Those look amazing! I'd say around $300-500. If its something super expensive like a LV then have them provide it or add expense of materials to it. But just the work and labor of it, I'd say $300 is fair unless excessive material cost.
I’m a disabled American combat veteran. I find your work fascinating, I would love to see you do a pair for the Army, maybe a Memorial Day pair. You know a pair that honored my brothers and sisters who didn’t make it home.
It depends how much are the materials. I read leftover LV leather is around $4 a meter. A pair of air force 1 are $115. With your time, between $250-$350 depending on the time and effort you put into them
Well this is not L.V leather, it is LV coated canvas and repurposing LV coated canvas is very popular. There is no way this material is $4 a meter! You would have to find 3-6 completely unrepairable bags to get a meter of the material. The main thing that LV looks at when deciding if they can repair a bag is the coated canvas. It can’t be ripped or anything like that. And you’re telling me that many many bags would only get four dollars? This isn’t even logical!
Just a little bit of a tip when making LV stuff, try not to cut off the LV logo and try to center them/match/line them up, it makes a difference! Congratulations to your smart daughter! May she continue to bring home excellent grades! 🥰
Amazing job and as a father I can say this what you did for her is priceless. However if you are going to charge someone for custom shoes ahhh I just don’t know I have never had a lot of money and I always try to keep things with in reason depending on the persons finances so I am the last person that should be running a business or giving advice. With all that said if the person is well off I would say custom jobs would start off at $500.00.
IF THE CUSTOMER COMES WITH THE GEAR, THEN JUST CHARGE FOR YOUR LABOR. HOW MUCH DO YOU THINK YOUR LABOR IS WORTH? 👩🏿⚖ BE HONES AND FAIR WITH YOUR CUSTOMERS, THEN YOU BOTH WIN. ☆♡~❤~♡☆
There's people that are paying up to (and I can't believe it) $850 for certain Nikes... The way I see it you have a gift, just because someone learns a craft doesn't always mean that they're gifted but you my friend are at the top of your profession, much respect
850 lolol there's collabs going for easily over 20k bro. If this was a clean brand new AF1 with the LV bag on it I'd say an easy 1 to 2k for sale is fair.
@@profligatepassages are you serious?, Jeeeesus Christmas, I know I'm old (53) but I just can't see spending that much on something like a pair of shoes, hell I didn't pay that much for my car 🤣🤣🤣
I have some Air Force ones that’s are worth around 10k right now and there are some that are way more than that now I would probably never even put most of them on my daily shoes are just stockish af1
They look sick but I would have left the Nike check and tongue all white and instead don't the small heel pull area with LV and some dope brown LV laces.
I see most people saying 200-300; but honestly I think you could ask more. That is a really niche talent you have. People will pay out the nose for your work.❤❤❤
I do think that there are some that might, but they definitely aren't the majority. It would be wise to start at that lower price point to start interest and after, if it becomes more in demand, raise prices. It will net more money up front as you create a demand.
If I were you daughter, I would never wear these! They would be too precious & priceless for me. I'd have them forever & pass them down the generations as heirlooms, that's how much I'd love a Dad who would do this for me! They look awesome,, great job ❣️
For custom sneaks, I'd figure around $150-500 max. Figuring the cost of the actual shoe someone has to either send or bring you. Materials aren't crazy unless someone wants something crazy then price it accordingly. But id say average $150-500 pending how much YOU like doing it.
Your daughter must be so happy & proud. You could easily ask 500 usd at least. You actually recycled Louis Vuitton stuff, and if you look at the prices of that brand you can ask so musch more... Would be a great way to put yourself outthere more and get recognized as an example of great craftmanship. Who knows what may happen... Goodluck 🍀
Doing this job, took the shoes to a (CUSTOM) level, and that comes with a premium. So, [time, material, cost of the shoes, and customization], make these shoes $399.00 look at it this way: Just time 8 hours (x) $20.00 per-hour = $160.00 in time alone. So, $399.00 should be the minimum price.
The materials alone would probably be 700-1000 unless you found a cheap used LV bag, id start off with MK, Chanel Coach, DG Hell I might even order the fake stuff from China and just be honest with clients but those would bring $2500-$3000 easy The actual Nike Air Force 1 Low Louis Vuitton Monogram Brown Damier Azur (sorry for the xopy/paste text) go from $4000-$325,000, soo Aside from the richest man in the world suiing you, the sky's the limit
If you using REAL LV material 500-1k if it’s just replica LV material like 150-200 depending on how much the customer wants it customized and that’s if you provide shoes
The bag was free … a gift from the universe. Totally up to you. Are you a capitalist, a crony capitalist, socialist? How much skill, labor and or experience did it take? What’s the demand? How much does one cost? …would the client be providing the materials? … Critical, need to know information What’s a fair price for a days work plus materials…? I’d say 350 to 650 with add ons
The moment I saw what you did to that Jordan 10's damn I knew you could do CUSTOMIZATION. In your industry CRAFTSMANSHIP IS PRICELESS SO ITS HARD TO TELL
$400.00 if they provide the material. If not 1-2K minimal if you offering genuine designer leather. However, if it’s knock off print, $200.00 seems reasonable.
1000$ for One Sneakers you have talent why gift way for cheap Maybe 1000is much more but A people will hire you for Custom desgin I promise you keep posting
~500$ minimum I’d say. The reasoning is pretty simple, including the cost of parts, your time, and the unique nature of the job, I’d say you definitely be worth a premium just for the relatively rare skill that you have here. Give or take ~100$ for the difficulty of the customization.
Honestly, the work would never be worth the outcome. They don't look great... not a slight, just honest outside-the-box insight. They look like someone's dad did them in the garage. Just keeping it real. As a sneaker head, I'd NEVER rock that $hìt.
I enjoy watching your videos because it brings nostalgia to me. My paternal grandfather owned Foot Culture Shoe Company in NYC. He, my uncle, my dad, and a couple of others made orthodpeic shoes. Each time I visited the shop, I enjoyed the fragrance of leather and Barge cement (before Toulene was removed). Thanks for the memories. And thanks for demonstrating your superb craftsmanship!
Those are looking crispy…. Wow, good freaking job. Those right there are nowhere else only on your daughter’s feet so of course there’s no price for them. A job like that should depend on the job description and what the customer wants on them. I would start at $200.00 just for starting and add let’s say $25.00-$50.00 for additional adding. There’s people who do this type of job that they learned in school and there’s others who was born with the talent, and you’re definitely born with it. Just wow, you have amazing skills and your job is awesome very fascinating. God bless your skills. Thank you for showing your skills.
What would be a fair price? It depends on the material of course and the time spent on making/customizing but I would say, for a job like this, nothing less then 300$. Customized jobs cost more than usual exactly because they are customized or 1/1 so a client should have no problem with paying a customized amount for a customized job. That's just my opinion. P.S. The stated amount is if the client brings all the necessary material and shoes or whatever they wish to customize. So, 300$ is for your impeccable work and your time making a piece of art the client can wear.
I’m thinking at least as much as store bought Jordan’s. So let’s say the best you can buy from a store are $200 dollar Jordan’s. Then I would charge 190 for custom Airforce 1 and 300-350 for custom Jordans
From your other videos you don't charge what other youtube cobblers charge, which is really cool for your customer but it's hard to choose a price bc you're able to keep prices low. Avg id say at least $200-$300. If they buy the AF themselves then $100-$150. You do great work
Hey, as an apprenticing cobbler, I LOVE your videos. Question: where did you find that hot tool you used? And what’s its name? I don’t even know what it’s called to try and look it up. 🤣 Thanks for showing all of us your expertise. Cheers!
I'd also expect around 500$. Don't underestimate: single pice. It's less the material, more the uniquness and the art ... and i hope also a little bit for craftmansship ...
Well I know the authentic Louis Vuitton tennis shoes cost $1,300 so so with those being Louis Vuitton and Air Force One I would say the car should be like 3 to 500
Amazing craftsmanship! If they provide the material, I'd say about $495 but you could likely get more if they can afford the LV. I just don't have money anymore😂
Wow your craftsmanship is amazing, I think if you had a small batch and had a “limit release” you could potentially sell them for $500 easily. Also an old worn pair of Jordan’s on eBay with something like this could make a lucrative profit.
If you can find LV scrap leather for cheap/free it can drive down the actual price you have to charge. But realistically thats a $350-400 (US) job, minimum!
You shouldn't charge coz as you said they're a gift for your Daughter....aren't they and if they're made from old scrap materials $150-$200, that way you'll undercut your competition and in the long run you'll make more money coz common sense would tell you to get the best deal just as long as its the same if not better quality
$125-$300 depending on the details and if they supply their own materials like LV purse. $325-$500+ if you have to source your own material regardless of it’s in the scrap bin or not. I owned a custom leather goods shop (we didn’t do boot or shoe repair but we did belts, accessories and custom with any leather from cow to stingray and some leathers people didn’t know existed, were legal or a better choice for specific applications or cost effective without losing quality). Custom work is finicky and if I have to not just rip stitches, pattern work and restitch there’s going to be a premium price to paid. Why? Because not everyone try one or just anyone can do that work and it takes up real time. Or if they try it ends up looking half assed and the $ they put into doing it themselves and then replacing everything to try again will cost more than having it down by a professional who has the tools and knowledge to do it.
I feel like that's not something you charge for "the job" you need to charge for the shoe as a whole. IE the pair you just did, you just cut up. $4000 purse. So that's now a $1200 shoe
Looking at all prices, I think people were talking if you made the entire shoe. Granted, you had the LV material already. I would say, whole day's work, 175.
Back ina day air forces used to be 90-100 now with more than just the black community buying them they jacked the prices ,just like timberland, champion, ect. So I would keep that in mind with pricing 190 ish sounds fair
If it took you almost a day, I'd assuming that means about 6 hours of work. Assuming you got the material from the client or free and you're only charging time, you should be looking at $300 minimum. $50 a hour, is reasonable for a quality craftsman and someone asking for that level of detail would be willing to pay.
