This is the greatest tutorial about Custom NPC i've ever seen. For me the biggest problem was making dialogues and quests. Now i finally will be able to make mini rpg game in minecraft. Thank You Yellow768.

If you want to make an npc attack you after quest or you want them to have a bertayal characteristics. Make a new tab on the factions and then on quest click on factoon options and click the faction you just made and decrease it to how much is your defaault faction point. for example my factions are 1000/1500 decreasing it tp 1000 after quest will make the npc attack you. Make sure the faction u used is only available to the npc you want to betray you unless every npc has to do that.

I added the quest but it seems like it doesnt work, it just shows that i completed the quest.. It seems like he doesnt want to accept the quest. I made a quest about a horse wanting a carrot then I tried giving him the carrot but its not working anyways, he keeps saying the dialogue I put when you dont have the item(No carrots, no rewards) even though I already completed the quest😭 I also make sure that the objectives are the carrot. Short term: After having the quest item and the quest is completed. The dialogue I put on when quest is not complete yet keeps showing up. what do i do? what version of custom npc are you using too?

hi! how i can in the same NPC a second quest?, im trying select all the options like the first quest but the second quest doesnt said the dialog of the quest, only the tittle and the text of the complete quest. if u can help me ill be very grateful

Try setting the "first quest completed" Dialog to be only available before itself is read. (3:50)

Sort of. There is a quest type called manual, which has three objectives. The objectives can be named whatever, and how many points the player needs in that objective to consider it fulfilled. The only way to increase or set points in an objective is through a command, /noppes quest objective www.kodevelopment.nl/minecraft/customnpcs/commands So you'd have to make a manual quest and name the objective "Plant ten flowers", and set it to need 10 points. And then you'd need to figure out a way to run a command whenever the player plants a flower that adds to the quest objective. It'll need some command block magic, or scripting to make it work.

If I am correct, the quest kill target just needs a name, and will count as completed when an entity with that name is killed. So, just using the NPC name will work.

I know how old this tutorial is, but I have a question. Is there a way to give a custom written book through a dialog?

You'll need to use a command to create a book that has your writing in it. I would use a site like this minecraft.tools/en/book.php And then use the generated command in the Command property of the dialog.

ignore damage on custom items dont seem to work, for example i gave myself an unbreaking 5 iron hoe for a quest, and if i dont use it, it accepts the item and completes the quest, but if i damage it by one point it doesnt accept it, do you have any idea why this might be?

That's hard, I wish there was an "on death" option. You could do it through scripting. The only way I can think of without scripts is to also have a kill quest for the NPC, so when that npc is killed the quest is finished and has a command for the manual point

Is it possible to get npcs to attack eachother as soon as I start a quest? I want to make a war system were a ruler can speak with their advisor to declare war on another player, until they declare peace afterwards. I also want to make a system were you can ally with other factions on the start of a quest, and if one faction declares war, then my faction would also attack as well (I can also stratch that too, as I can just declare war along with my ally).

Hmmm, I dont know if I entirely understand your system, but you could have it so that it's a dialog that starts a quest, and the dialog has faction options that changes the players standing. You can also take a look at the Advanced Tab video, and look at scenes. You can make a dialog that has a command that activates a scene that changes the factions of npcs, you can set them to one that's hostile with another. Other than that, you'll probably have to get into scripting.

@@Yellow768 My goal is to get players armies to fight eachother once they accept the war quest, you're probably right about scripting though, because factions are hostile or they aren't if I choose global settings. What I haven't tried though is getting the enemies to attack you first, then your soldiers will come to your defense. Like you said we cannot join them in your faction video, so I was wondering if there was a way for factions to become hostile as you standing drops and become friendly if it increases. I think I'll try the scene suggestion though as it seems like it's exactly what I need which brings me to another question. Does attitude change from scenes affect every single unit or only a set amount of units on the map wo scripting?.

@@youcansave15ormoreoncarins75 The scene will affect each npc you write the scene on. However, if they are linked it *might* change it for all, idk though, I've never tested that.

Is there anyway for the NPC to attack you after triggering a certain dialogue?

Yes, dialogs have an option to alter faction points when it's read, so you can remove a ton of points from the player to trigger hostility. Another way (and my preffered way) is to set up a scene on the NPC (gone over in my advanced tab video) that changes the npc to be part of an unfriendly faction, and then have a dialog option that is a command to start the scene

The possibilities are: You didn't set the dialog in the Advanced tab. Or, the dialog has some availability conflict. I reccomend watching the episode 8.5 instead, it's more concise.

So I have it set so the quest is repeatable after 24 Real Life hours. But when 24 hours pass the quest is still on the "Greetings After" Dialogue. I can't figure out how to fix this!

If the first dialog is set to be available on "can start" then im not sure. This is a really hard one to test and I'm not actually sure how the mod knows if 24 hours passed. I dont know if it tracks the computer date or just counts the ticks (which would only be counted if the world is running)

The dialogue option to make a dialogue appear only once. I'm trying to make an NPC do it the first time you ever interact with them as an introduction to their character. Alas, whenever I set the dialogue to be only available before itself the dialogue does not show up period. All it gives me is the stray unimportant text of the NPC in the speech bubbles. Is there something I am doing wrong that anyone knows about? I've tried it multiple times with other new NPCs using the same dialogue tree, I've attempted putting the same settings on the replies in the dialogue tree

Have you deleted your playerdata in the global tab? If you've already read the dialog it isn't going to show up again. The mod will save what dialogs you've read, status of quests, and factions in global>playerdata

Hmm, that's weird. Sorry for taking so long to get back to you. I tested it out in the latest version on 1.16.5 and it worked as expected. Anything weird with the availability? Maybe the dialog was set to only be available before the quest? I'd check availability options on both the dialog that starts the quest and the quest itself, if you have any more details that'd be helpful :).

Either your availability on the dialog is messed up and the player can't access it (maybe need to delete the playerdata if you have like "before dialog b is read") Or, you forgot to assign the dialogs in advanced-> dialog

You may have to delete your playerdata in global > playerdata. If the quest is not repeatable it won't give it to you again if you've already done it

Well, this series is about the mod called CustomNPCs. For without mods, I dont knownof any tutorials. You'll probably have to look into command blocks, and for dialog, it'll be limited to command blocks doing /tellraw's with dialog written in them, and clickable links that run more tellraw commands. You can look at the Land of Edraria, I know that's how they did it. Look into command blocks and tellraw generators. That's the best advice I can give

So you have two diapog trees. The dialog that starts Tree 1 should have its availability set to be before the quest. Then the dialog for tree 2 is set to be after the quest. Then list both in advanced>dialogs

Wait so the "after completing a quest" option is actually the same as "the quest is in completed state" ??? Isn't that redundant?

No. "After" is for when the player has already turned in the quest. No longer in their quest log. "Completed" is when the quest is complete, but the player hasn't turned it in yet. As in, they have acquired all the items for the quest, but haven't actually gone to the NPC to get their reward. Still in their quest log.

Quests you've done are in the playerdata part when you go into global tab on an npc. You can delete individual quests, or just delete all of your playerdata to give you a clean slate. Same with dialogs you've read, faction status, and banks

25:04 (you've probably read the dialog before and need to remove it from your player data, all the quests checks is if the dialog had been read at any point)

You link quests to dialogs, in the dialog editor there is a thing that sums "Select quest". Whatever quest you select there will be given to the player when they read that dialog

are you clearing your playerdata? The mod is going to remember if you've read dialogs already if you're messing with availability. I also made an updated version of this video, episode 8.5, that's shorter
