@@MarcoBoneMan Yeah, Snoop said it best, Michael always "apart" and "never one of us." Had he stayed with Cutty, it would have seen it as proof of disloyalty well before he'd be in a position to act. And instead of combatting just Snoop, he'd have faced all the Stanfield soldiers.
i'm rewatching the wire after a few years and I haven't even made it to season 4 yet and Cutty is already so unbelievably well written, this series just keeps getting better it's insane
I always kind of thought it was naive of Cutty to think he could front up to thugs like that. He is from that world. He should have known they would respond like that
He wasnt soft but he was smarter and not as paranoid. All marlo did was drop bodies, Avon had more finesse. That's why the Barksdale org lasted years, and marlo was a flash in the pan. @@DIFA300
@@DIFA300 Barksdale people were more human. They didn't kill randoms for talking to them wrong. For all they know Cutty was a civilian, and still were about to kill him over talking.
@@Wobakoffbird and weebay ain’t give AF lol Avon Barksdale had some goons ….Marlo just took advantage because Avon and String was divided and battling within
What's so ironic about this scene is Mike don't want Cuddy touching him monk notices that and say something to him and defend Michael and at the end mike try to stop Monk and monk pulled away from him like hey dont touch me either 😂😂😂
@@TheDoorspook11c I'd argue that he was barely given a shot. From his perspective Cutty looked like a nonce. He didn't trust anyone because of something terrible that weren't his fault, Cutty would sleep with people's mothers like Bugs daddy would've slept with Mike's mother, he couldn't trust him. Well, not until it was too late. Plus, he couldn't have just walked away anyways they would've went after him as he knows too much.
@@lingoringo2328 You can see how the sins of a single person can have catastrophic events on the lives of other unrelated people. Michaels father rapes him, leading him to be distrustful of Cutty, his only shot out of the game. Because of this, Mike leaves Dukie and Bug. Bug now has no family, torn away from anything hes ever known and was only taken in by his (aunt?) because Mike paid her. Dukie looses his best friend which leads him into a life of drugs and homelessness. Mike starts ripping off drug dealers, just like Omar. Omar ripping off Marlo lead to Chris shooting the innocent delivery lady to frame him. It also got Butchie tortured to death. In a better example, Omar ripping off Avon lead to Brandons torture and death, which lead to Wallaces drug habit, which lead to Stringer ordering Bodie to kill Wallace, which leads to Dee almost snitching, which leads to him developing a drug habit, which leads to Avon killing a bunch of inmates with hotshots and Stringer murdering Dee. Bodie killing Wallace also impacts his feelings about Lil Kevins death, which gets him killed. All sins effect everyone, even private sins.
If he knew who Monk was, he would have respectfully walked away. He's not as a ruthless killer as Chris and Snoop. But he's not far removed from them either. Cutty would have instantly reserved a room in a vacant had he said that to Chris or Snoop while trying to persuade Mike.
Shyt monk warned him calmly. You gott the resevred ones are most dangerous cuz they smart. Know when a nigga guard down then they inflict big damage when they get violent.
No gun and that young guy would've got his face CRACKED. Oh I forgot, without the gun and the other dudes standing there he would not have said a DAMN THING to Cutty at all. FACTS
It bothers me how little provocation this man needed to draw his gun and fire it. These gang banger animals have zero respect or regard for life. You know the phrase, "well that escalated quickly." This didn't even escalate, really.
Cutty: "If I was talking to you, you'd know I was..." It was the subtle threat from Cutty that got him shot. That statement can be taken as "You don't want my attention on you, because I can handle you easily. I'm not taking your seriously." Sometimes you need to be careful what words you use, you never know how reckless the other person listening could be, or how they will interpret what you said.
@@in_vas_por8810 yeah a street smart person like Cutty should have known that. You can't just walk up to someone's corner and disrespect them like that.
Favourote thing is cutty saying go with you people mike He knew if the police rolled up the light would be on him is he solid etc Cutty knew as soon as mike turned him down hes was about that life and he wanted the best for him in that life Cutty og but times have changed
Mans new who he was, heck cutty was the same. He new there wasnt any sens trying to keep him in a world he no longer believed in. I know in the comments people are siding with cutty. Tbh i side with neither. Their both just products of their enviorment. And at some point you gotta realize there isnt much you can do but roll with people like you
Bro has nothing to do with police, Cutty is schooling him on how to be a corner boy now that Michael made it clear hes gonna go that route. If he stays with Cutty that would have his crew doubting his loyalty towards them. Hes teaching Michael now that hes in it he has to go all the way.
@@jstick9980 I hear what you're saying and I agree but if the police roll up and he's been shot and michael Is there that leaves him in an awkward place with his new crew. They're not just gonna be like oh thanks for staying with him naaah you were there what happened pressuring him then the stanfield organisation thinks he's getting weak, like they did when Chris mashed up his step dad. Yeah for sure cutty was like you've made your choice go with your people but also as in don't wait for me be solid go now
Something I notice about The Wire and The Sopranos clips, so many people In the comments talk like they're one of the characters in the show. Most people in these comments are using American hood slang, I wonder how many of them are nerdy white men like myself lol
About 80 percent are brainwashed and talking like the show lol just like sopranos fans do accept there only playing about the lines wire fans actually try to be like them
@@caseymckenzie3951 It's not that unusual, tbf. People mirror the kinds of people they like irl. Like when you make new friends, your sense of humor and vocabulary starts to copy theirs. Pretty normal actually.
Mike wanted nothing else to do with Cutty after being unfairly ejected from the gym just because he protected Dukie from Namond’s bullying. Even if Mike is justifiably angry at Cutty and lost whatever respect and trust he had for him, he didn’t want to see him hurt or killed by Marlo’s crew.
I'd argue that it was more of Mike not trusting Cutty because of Mike's past. Such as how he didn't like Cutty being too friendly and sleeping with people's mother's like bug's dad had with his mother. That's why when he got shot I believe it dawned on him that Cutty weren't so bad, especially when he said to go with his people. I think he felt bad because he realized Cutty genuinely cared and weren't a molester.
Everybody defends mikes behaviour. The guy was a moody dckhead, brought murderers and dealers into his little brothers own house and fks over guys who trying to help him over and over again.
It wasn't so much that Cutty threw him out. He followed up by saying that he didn't want him there to begin with. Shouldn't say something like that to a kid like Mike.
Avons squad had actually humans. Guerrillas of the field. Marlos squad had Demons. Even compare and contrast. Avons era still had crime but it was colorful, vibrant people were like humans. Marlo’s era was dark, void like. Even Monk here looked like a demon from Berserk the way the shade partially covered his face
Mike was working for Marlo but he was still invested in the Dennis' gym, when he berated Michael he basically drove him away like he did Spider although this time he did it consciously.
@@beecasssoutherngal8974 yea that’s how we did it in Chi Heights then but remember when dude tried to sit and talk to Marlo, Chris told him to move around. So in Baltimore, I take it they speak up for their man’s
Probably how he got the name Monk. Cool as a cucumber and professional asf for the career field he was in. No emotion, just straight to the point. Cutty was warned and given ample opportunity to walk away before deadly force was used. That’s how the game should be played. Chris and Snoop operated the same way. Their coldness and lack of empathy are no different then a corporate environment.
Reminds me of the world series of dice game getting robbed, and Leonard Washington getting shot by Rodney "Quills". "Notice he shot Leonard below the waist so it's not attempted murder".
Cutty knew Mike was too deep to be "saved" by someone else. He knew Mike would have lost face with the crew. They would have accused him of being soft or snitching. Also, the cops would have hounded Mike or at least put him on their radar. He was pretty much making it easier on Mike, telling him that he respects his choices.
@@ironroad18 exactly. As risky as it was to go and apologize to Mike while he's at work, that's all he wanted to do. Appeal to whatever goodness was left in Michael and tell him he (Cutty) was wrong for putting him out. Beyond that, Mike's is his own. Too bad he became the new Omar because we all know where that will lead.
I wouldn’t even say he’s scared of them there just at the top an he works for them Marlo could have been killed just like any one else and Chris was always walking people to vacant suprised Omar didn’t pop up
Cutty had shit to loose at this point owning a boxing gym is a big deal especially to a ex gangster he now had too much to loose and nobody to back him up in a war
I don’t think it was that as far he could easily go back to that same corner an unload on all 3 he just didn’t want to no more he was legit going straight
