CV axle replacement: 60 to 90 minutes ($30 / $170 / $280) In this video I replaced the CV axle on a 1998 Chevrolet Prizm. I'm pretty sure this is the same process on the Toyota Corolla.
When an axle pulls free of the transmission cv cup when you pull the outer axle from it, how do you pull out what it left in the side of the transmission side?>
Phill Saska Get a large screw driver or some kind of pry bar and tap it between the part left and the trans. Tap it in with a small sledge hammer and it should pop out.
I have noticed in past videos from other people that they give a light pull on the drive shaft to check for the end circlip being in the locking groove correctly. Please tell me to "Piss off" if i become annoying lol :-)
This guy is a dummy....you don't need to remove anything other than the two caliper pin bolts, and the two strut bolts...you do not need to remove control arm, tie rods etc. This is a twenty minute job, start to finish....remove those bolts I mentioned, tap shaft out with a deadblow hammer and then remove it from trans, to install , do the opposite.
Seems like removing the other bolts gives you more “wiggle” and “play room”, which is probably a good idea. It takes just a few moments to remove other bolts to save yourself a lot of headache of trying to get that joint out.
the Axel nut is supposed to be torqued to 200ft lbs!!! and that was not transmission fluid it was gear oil... just saying. you should give the correct info if your training sheep
sjodmgrp 200 Ft lbs, are you joking? Where did you get that info from? As for the transmission fluid, whatever the owners manual calls for, that's what people need to add back. Calm down.
