Cyclone Hidaya nearing the coast of Tanzania

Cyclone Hidaya peaked this morning as a strong Category 1 hurricane equivalent storm, and is still holding on to a lot of its strength as it draws nearer to the coast of Tanzania. Whilst it's still unclear exactly where landfall will occur, it's looking more likely that it will be near Mafia Island. The storm is expected to rapidly weaken as it reaches land, and some signs of weakening are already becoming apparent. However, strong winds of over 50 miles per hour (80kph) and torrential rainfall with accumulations of up to 12 inches (300mm) are possible, causing structural damage and flash flooding.
There remains the possibility, as suggested by Meteo France, that the storm will curve completely away from land, but not before producing storm conditions along coastal areas tonight and tomorrow.

I think on 11:23, Ewiniar(Aghon) peaked 100mph 976mbar And Cyclone Fani on 11:33 was a dangerous scary deadly cyclone on Bay of Bengal, many people won't forget everything that Fani caused

JTWC earlier says that Cyclone Hidaya could continue intensifying to 105mph, though they've since released their new cone getting rid of it since then... Also, I've also found out just now that NO cyclone near Tanzania has been more intense and stronger than Hidaya, in fact not even past 75mph!

2024 WPAC will be one of the seasons with a slow start just like 1969, 1983, 1998, 2010, 2016 and 2020. NATL will be one of the most active seasons like 2005, 2010, 2020, 2021 and 2023.

Yeah... so far, there's no WPAC activity yet... Even if there is potential WPAC activity within 10 days, anything can still change, and plus the Climate Prediction Center says no WPAC activity either even to 3 weeks out. Not to mention poor support from other model guidances for a probable WPAC TC for now....

There is one thing I find extremely interesting about Hidaya, actually. NO other cyclone near Tanzania has ever gotten as strong has Hidaya, let alone at C1 strength and stronger!

i would gladly welcome a bit of rain from that tropical storm near Luzon. April's heat was unbearable. just a weak tropical storm this May would be enough though
